[livejournal.com profile] seinen_no: Heya dears! So now this is the last chap and I dearly, dearly hope you'll still like us after reading it XD Nah, I won't tell more, only that there's an extra chap coming up^^ I wish you all a very nice Christmas-time and thank you all!

[livejournal.com profile] fonulyn: When I re-read this I had the feeling that the end might’ve been a bit rushed, but that’s the way we originally wrote it and I didn’t want to start changing it. Well, but here you’ll get the final knowledge of what is actually going on between all three of them ;) And keep tuned for the extra chapter! It’s a take-out from in between of the story. Enjoy ;)

And feel free to add our journal if you like the stories!
Plus, the archive.

Descendants of Darkness
Chapter 5

Die kept his word and the next night, Shinya's body was brought to his own apartment where the police found it the following morning. It was clear what had killed the young man, and the death was written into the books as 'unexplainable'.

Although Toshiya wasn't able to forget the picture of his friend lying in the pool of blood on the cold floor, he still didn't stop his daily visits at the house, simply craving for the redhead's presence. He began to spend even more time there, and to his surprise - a pleasant one - Die didn't seem to mind.

He was even allowed to spend days there when he had the time, simply sleeping beside the redheaded vampire, sometimes even daring to embrace him. It caused this certain kind of contentment to well up inside him and he held on to those moments with all his might.

After some time, Die even took him along when he went out. Not on the hunt of course, but when he was amusing himself amongst humans, be it a pub or a funfair, watching a movie even, he allowed his "pet" - how Kaoru called the human - to come along. The other vampire watched them suspiciously whenever they left together without him, but never said a single word. At least not that Toshiya knew about it.

One couldn't tell what a vampire thought and Kaoru made no exception as his features, his eyes and everything in him was simply unreadable for anybody.

It went on for some time like that, and at one point, Die even allowed Toshiya to drag him out to some places the human desperately wanted to visit. Toshiya was getting slightly more relaxed with the passing days, the memory of his dead friend fading slowly, being pushed to the background.

It wasn't long until Toshiya even stayed in the house till after dark without them going anywhere. Nothing had changed though, as Die had never promised he could protect him against his fellow vampires, but for some reason the human trusted that the others would respect Die's relationship to him and would leave him alone.

He was right with that, because at least the vampires who were occupying the house at times didn't harm him. Some scared the wits out of him, yes, but they never lay hands on him.

Nightfall had been a few hours ago already, when Kaoru quietly opened the door to the bedroom with the red walls and silently slid inside, arching an eyebrow at the sight that was presented to him. Die was lying on his back, gazing straight into his eyes, one arm wrapped loosely around the young human's naked form. Toshiya was fast asleep, probably exhausted, and still clung to the redhead as if he was his anchor to life.

There were no words exchanged, nothing else but a long knowing glance. Die didn't move a muscle, didn't blink and neither did the other vampire as they were staring each other in the eye. Then, Kaoru turned on his heels only to leave the room again and close the door behind him.

He went on the hunt alone that night, not having the needed patience to wait for the redhead, and not wanting to take anyone else with him either. It wasn't as if they didn't hunt alone at times, but it had happened more often lately.

It had become winter and the air smelled like snow. An easy season for the undead creatures as the days were short and the humans wrapped in thick coats, hoods on their heads which prevented them from hearing or seeing anything that was going on around them. Maybe that had been the reason why Kaoru had become careless.

Casually, he approached his victim, but before he could lay his hands on him, the young man turned around, a dagger in one hand and a small bottle in his other. Instantly, Kaoru dodged and the sharp weapon missed his neck only by inches, but drew a long deep wound across his chest. If that had been a perfect hit, he certainly would've lost his head.

Before he really noticed what was going on, there was a bunch of humans surrounding him. "Finally we got one of you bastards!"

For a short moment, the vampire looked into the distance as if he was waiting for something… or somebody. Yet, nothing happened and he barely managed to dodge another aim from his first opponent who now threw the small bottle at him.

"Shit! Gasoline," the vampire growled annoyed, the substance hurting the wound on his chest. He knew that one spark would be sufficient to light him like a torch and kill him. Shaking his head, he tried to gather a clear thought and acted only on instinct when he grabbed the dagger with one hand while the man tried to stab him again.

That action surprised his opponent so much that he didn't remember to light the Zippo in his hand and only stared Kaoru in the eyes for a moment, shocked. The next second, he was lying on the floor, his neck broken, and the vampire was already attacking the next one. But as the man lit a match, Kaoru rather fled and vanished in the darkness of the city streets.

He ran until he was sure that the humans had no chance to find him anymore, finally stopping in a dark alley to calm down and sort his thoughts. He was just about to get going when a voice cut through the darkness, carrying an amused undertone. "I told you, you won't be always there for each other."

As Kaoru turned his head, he spotted a small blonde figure sitting on a pile of boxes, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "How does it feel to be alone for once?"

"Oh shut up, Kyo!" Kaoru wasn't in the mood for something like that and glared at the other vampire. "That was just tough luck and it could've happened to all of us. Besides," he tilted his head a bit, grinning confidently, "I got the situation under control."

"You did, but it was a close call," Kyo shrugged a bit, obviously not really impressed in any way. "It would've been so much easier with someone covering for you. And now you are left without your prey." His eyes snapped up, looking straight into Kaoru's. "Where's Die? With the human again?"

There was nothing in Kaoru's eyes that gave away his thoughts when he nodded. "He's having his fun probably. Enjoying it while he still can." He stepped closer to the small one, bending down to look him straight in the face. "It's not like I'm dependant on him."

"And apparently he's not dependant on you." Came the carefree reply along with a crooked smile from the small vampire. "And a while ago, I thought you were inseparable. Everyone thought so."

"Just allow him his pet. That doesn't mean anything." Kaoru sounded a bit too casual to appear as if he didn't care at all. Yet, only a vampire might have noticed the slight change in his voice. "One word from me and the boy's history, so why worry?"

"You sound pretty confident." Kyo chuckled, jumped up to stand on his feet and winked at the taller vampire. "Just be sure that you won't be history before that. It wouldn't be cool to lose to a human, would it?"

"You better make sure that nobody slashes your throat in your sleep. I heard you were fooling around with some chicks that are somebody else's property," Kaoru replied with a wink.

"Don't worry; I'm used to being alone." The smaller vampire was already making his way further, had turned his back on the other one. Still, his words were clearly audible as he spoke up. "Unlike some others..."

The words made Kaoru think though and from that day on, he eyed the relationship between the redheaded vampire and the human more carefully. When Die asked him about the huge wound on his chest, he waved aside, telling him it was nothing and that he was glad Die hadn't been there as it would have only brought more troubles.

Toshiya on the other hand was glad that the redheaded vampire seemed to slowly grow apart from his companion or at least spend less time with him. He used the opportunity to find out if Die would be willing to leave with him and start a new life somewhere, a life where he would feed on humans without killing them, maybe even only live on blood donations from a blood bank. Who knew what was possible?

Still, it took a few weeks before he openly suggested things like that for the first time. It had been after making love and he was cuddling close to the vampire although he didn't provide warmth, drawing random patterns on his chest with his index-finger. That day, Die hadn't reacted at all, hadn't abandoned the idea nor agreed upon it.

That had caused Toshiya to grow more determined though, since at least the other man hadn't told him straight out to shut up about it. He began to mention it on different occasions, first carefully and then more straight, trying to convince the redhead it'd be the best choice.

He was convinced that now that Die had protected him against the other vampires, he would be able to protect Die against people in return, and they would be able to start all over somewhere together.

Even the lack of enthusiasm from the vampire didn't make him falter, and he persistently went on asking every time he sensed his chances; when Die was in a good mood, during mellow, silent moments together... He never got an answer though and was growing impatient slowly.

***

Toshiya sighed deeply and looked straight at the redheaded vampire who was leaning against the wall beside him. "Don't you think it would be so much better if it were just the two of us? Nobody to threaten my life and nobody to disturb you or drag you out to hunt. It would make stopping that easier."

"Hunting together makes things easier," Die answered shortly, almost disinterested, his eyes directed somewhere into the distance as he took a drag of his cigarette. He had developed a habit to smoke. After all, it wouldn't be able to kill him so he had no reason to drop it.

"But that's the point," Toshiya smiled triumphantly and even snatched the cig from the redhead to take a drag. "This is about stopping. No more senseless killing people but more like finding a way to live together. Don't you think this would be wonderful? Your conscience would be clean and mine too. You just have to take the step and leave this shithole and the others behind."

"What makes you so sure that I would be willing to stop it?" the redhead asked curiously, arching one of his delicate eyebrows. He didn't make a move to snatch the cigarette back though, patiently waiting until it was handed to him. "I've led this life for years, I think I know what I want."

"You didn't have me before," the black-haired man smiled widely. All those weeks he had spent together with the vampire had given Toshiya the needed certainty that the other one felt something for him, returned his feelings and that made him incredibly happy. It also enabled him to act around Die like he would act around a human lover. "It would be far less dangerous for either of us to live together elsewhere, without Kaoru or the others watching us all the time."

"Would be less dangerous for YOU." Die pointed out and suddenly turned to stare the human straight in the eye. "And easier for your human friends to get rid of me." Nothing had changed in his casual appearance, if one didn't count in the dangerous glimmer in his eyes.

"Nono, you got it all wrong." Toshiya shook his head and placed his hand on the vampire's forearm soothingly. "Of course it would be less dangerous for me, but you wouldn't need to worry. Nobody knows what you are and we can just keep it a secret. Here in big cities people don't care for you that much. They don't wonder when you're only seen at night. Besides," he was smiling softly, took the cigarette, he had given Die back, away from his mouth and gave him a short kiss, "we would be together. Just the two of us."

The expression on the vampire's face was again completely unreadable as he looked somewhere into the distance. Despite the time they had spent together, Toshiya hadn't learned to read the expressions at all, and it was always a total mystery for him what was going on in that pretty head of his. Finally, Die turned to look at him though, shrugging slightly. "You say you've thought it all through?"

"Yes," Toshiya nodded, the smile on his face widening as he was hoping Die was about to agree to his suggestion. He really had thought this through well, had counted his money and if he would work during daytime, he could afford a small apartment somewhere far away from here for both of them.

The good thing was that Die didn't need to eat normal food, which would save them some money. There was only one thing that worried him and that was the small dark haired vampire. Kaoru gave him the creeps. Whenever he stared at him, Toshiya felt his hackles curl. It was as if the other one was only waiting for the right moment to drain him.

So he averted his gaze and spoke tentatively. "We should make sure though that Kaoru can't follow us. I'm afraid he's after me."

Laughter sounded from a dark recess and said vampire stepped into the light, mirroring Die's position by folding his arms across his chest and leaning against the opposite wall casually. "Did I just hear my name? Are you already plotting plans to get rid of me?"

Toshiya flinched, nervously glancing first at the smaller vampire and then at the taller one. Die didn't make a single move, his expression staying motionless like it had been throughout the whole conversation.

Finally, he turned to look at the human though, arching an eyebrow. "Don't you think it would've been easier to just cut off his head when he was sleeping? You should know better than to plot against a vampire."

Toshiya turned pale and he took a step closer to the redhead, bringing him between Kaoru and himself. "I- I didn't mean to kill him," he finally got out, his eyes fixed on the smaller vampire to make sure he stayed where he was.

"Not? It sounded like that to me." Kaoru chuckled amused. "You should at least have the guts to admit it. It's too late now anyways. You will have to come and get my head if you want it." Teasingly, he stretched his neck and bared his throat for a moment.

"See," Toshiya whispered to Die, "he's dangerous. We should get rid of him, we have to."

"We do?" There was an amused sparkle in Die's eyes as he tilted his head to take a look at the human, a small grin forming on his lips. "Why is that?"

"Because if we don't kill him, he will kill me sooner or later." Seeing the redhead so amused startled Toshiya a bit, but after all, he was used to the vampire's mood-swings and that he often laughed about things which didn't appear funny.

"He wouldn't do anything like that." The redhead pursed his lips a bit, arching an eyebrow and threw a questioning glance at the smaller vampire. "Would you?"

A short moment of silence followed throughout which both vampires were just staring at each other. Finally, Kaoru shook his head, pursing his lips. "Not if you ask me to spare him."

Toshiya saw that this went all the wrong way and he again addressed Die, grabbing his sleeve to get his attention. "Don't believe him. I've seen his glares. If he had had the chance to do it without raising your suspicion, he would've killed me already. WE must get rid of him. YOU must decide." The last sentence was spoken louder, pleading and Toshiya was hoping that the tall vampire would finally show his obvious affection for him even before his friend.

"Decide?" The word had barely left the redhead's lips when he had already pinned the human against the wall, using his bodyweight to keep him still. Almost admiringly he ran his index finger along Toshiya's throat, following the trail with his gaze. "I don't even have to think about that."

His voice was thick, coated with lust and the next thing Toshiya felt was the sharp pain on his throat. Blood splashed from the fresh wound and when Die pulled back he had changed, his sharp fangs glistening with the bright red liquid. The human tried to scream, but all that came out was a gargling noise as he fell down on his knees, his wide, desperate eyes still directed at the redhead.

Shock and disbelief were clearly written in the gaze as he pressed his hand against his neck, trying to keep the blood from seeping out of the wounds. Suddenly, something caught his attention though and he moved his eyes away from the redhead, watching Kaoru step closer.

There was an eternal grin plastered to the smaller vampire's lips when he stepped beside the redhead and wrapped an arm around his waist. "I warned you," he purred, pulling his companion closer in a possessive manner.

There was something in the way that Die leaned closer into the embrace that broke Toshiya's heart, and even the blood that was flowing from the wound, the pain and the fear of death became irrelevant for the moment. Tears were glistening in his eyes but he could still see the two vampires clearly, unable to look away.

"I told you it wouldn't work out," Die stated in a mock compassionate voice, staring straight at the dying man. "You honestly thought I loved you? Let me tell you a secret; there's only one for me." The words were accompanied with a smirk, and it was painfully clear of whom the redhead was talking about.

In a gentle gesture, Kaoru brought his hand up to the taller vampire's cheek, turning his head towards himself. For a short moment, one could see a deep sparkle in his eyes, something that gave away he had never feared Die could betray him. The next moment, their lips met in a passionate kiss.

okay i know this sounds terribly evil and mean from me, but i'm having a smile plastered on my face...cause Die and Kao are together(and that SHOULD bother me i guess XD)
i mean ofcourse it's sad Toshiya died and all, but hey he was human, and Die a vampire, that just CAN'T work out (except for Buffy the vampire slayer and spike, but that's another fandom XD).
i loved this chapter AND this story^^ it was great to read another vampire story again, cause i love vampires and the rough smex that comes with it x) *perv like woah*
the last time i read one it ended with Kao being killed by vampire!Die and getting turned into a vampire as well( that was a bit sad really but yeah)

anyway, i'm off to study for the 4564564654-th time -___-
at least i have you guys to cheer me up :333

[identity profile] obey-the-fluff.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you summed up everything I was going to say. Totchi got annoying in the end lol.

hey im off to study too *high five*!!!!!!

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I looooove Spike from Buffy x)

Okay, but well, Die could've turned Totchi at one point if he had wanted to be with him, but of course his loyalty belongs to Kaoru.
We both, [livejournal.com profile] fonulyn and I, love Toshiya, but in this story, he just had to be killed.

Aw, We always try to cheer you^^ But hey, maybe our bonus-chap will do the trick again x)

[identity profile] dragon-sun.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Usually I hate when main characters die, but here... It's perfect. I really enjoyed reading this, you should write more vampire stories!

Btw, for a second I was really scared that Kao might be the one to die there... Wasn't funny, nono!

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa, thanks a lot. It's nice to hear that you liked it although somebody dies. Heh, you know, we both (fonulyn and I) hate it too when somebody dies, but like this, it's kinda bearable.

I think there's no need to encourage us. We love vampire stories and I bet this hasn't been our last one.

Beware, we might once write a fic where Kao or Die have to die! (althought it will make me cry seriously)

[identity profile] k-liope.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
again I feel so cruel cause I laughed a lot with the end xD
No, Im not crazy ( not that much) but it reminds me a lot the tale of the frog and the scorpion xDD
But it`s truth, love makes a person get blind U_U
Poor toshiya ;_;
he was really a petlove xDDD

so there will be an extra chap?
*waits for it*

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You laughed? Did we do something wrong? Haha, it's a good thing though, 'cause I laugh too sometimes when it's seemingly not appropriate. THat's healthy.

The extra chap will follow asap (maybe today, if we manage) x)

YES! Take that bitchy whiny Toshiya! *evil laugh*
Ahem...
xD

I would have loved to see this story with a different plot, where Die and Kaoru would have shared Toshiya and then maybe turned him into a vampire in the end. But then again I know how [livejournal.com profile] fonulyn feels about Kaoru with other people so I guess that was a false hope...

Anyway, can't wait for your next story!
Edited 2007-12-15 15:05 (UTC)

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, at least you liked the point when they slashed his throat then? XD

Hm, maybe, but that kind of things never work. Three people can't live together like that since there's always going to be two who are closer to each other and the third is doomed to be left a bit more distant. heh, and dear, I CAN deal with Kaoru with other people as long as Die is present all the time as well, 'cause HE is the number one for Kaoru XD Having Kaoru alone with anyone else than Die is simply disgusting!

Thanks! :D I think the next will be [after the extra chapter] the Christmas fics though, unless we have something really short to post beforehand.

I loved it. ^_____^ DIExKAO FOREVER! Oh yeah

I kinda knew die was playing him, I guess I know you guys too well now ne? :P

*huggles* Sorry sugar, no threesome for you this time. C'mon, wouldn't really have fitted, would it?

You know us too well, I think. Maybe once we'll surprise you by doing something nobody would have ever thought x) and then everybody starts to hate us

Why would I not like you for this? Pft, killing Tosh?! Well, I pity his idiocy but other than that, nobody should come between Die & Kaoru. Now pass the screwing chapter! I'm finally in happy mood! ^______^ You've made me high.

Thumbs up for Die doing his job. XDDD
Nobody needs a whiny Toshiya, seriously. He was so annoying. >_<
He should have seen that Die belongs to Kao, such an idiot.
Everbody knows that they belong together. XD

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Was Toshiya really that annoying? I wonder, 'cause I didn't think that XD But you're, of course, right. He had to die since Die belongs to Kao and not him :D
Thank you for your comment!

you are so cruel. I didn't expect this ending. Poor Toshiya

I know we are mean. Sorry, dear. I hope you didn't get traumatized. Well, if it helps, [livejournal.com profile] fonulyn and I both love Totchi. Only hin this story, he had to make way for Kao. He was the human side and there's no room for humanity between vampires ne?

[identity profile] aya-3003.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the ending ^^

great work

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks dear. We're glad you liked it^^

[identity profile] nightelf-moriel.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the moment it looked like Kaoru would die because Die wasn't there to protect him...all my sympathy for Toshiya mysteriously vanished XD shouldn't have come between them, no no no. *hits herself for ever thinking differently*

Yeah...perfect ending, I really liked that Die didn't even have to think about whom to chose; seems like he and Kao have real feelings for each other after all.

Somehow I think that I'll be spending a lot of my christmas time on the internet, lurking for your fics 8D

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, really? You mean when Kao was waiting for somebody to save him and stand by him while the humans tried to burn him? You should've been at Kao's side right from the beginning *helps you hitting yourself* x)

Dear, we're glad you liked the turn of things and the fic. I have to admit, that I love it as I wanted a pure and evil Kaoru and Die from the beginning. I like vampires x)

*lol. Do that. How else should one escape horrible relatives than fleeing into the world of fiction?

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I now just generously assume that "x_x" means you're positively stunned and liked the fic XD

[identity profile] violet-midnight.livejournal.com 2007-12-15 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Man....I feel kinda bad for Toshiya. I was rooting for him. But, you know, he did cross Kaoru and that is a bad idea. *Shrugs.* Poor Totchi. XD

I have to say this is the darkest thing you two of written, in my opinion. XD Killing two of the guys, man. But the fact that it showed that Kaoru and Die had feelings for one another makes up for it. And Kyo's little apperance there in the middle.

But still....i'm kind walking away feeling mixed up about this one. XD Hopefully the next one I wont feel so weird. Great though though, gals. *Huggls.*

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew you'd feel bad for Toshi. But believe me, we both, fonulyn and I, we honestly like Toshiya a lot. It's just that he can't win against Kao, can he?

I hope we didn't confuse you too much!

Hey, you didn't answer my mail. So I have to tell you again here to give me your address (and your full real name) x) Don't worry, it's nothing bad, but I wanted to send you a Christmas card (which now will reach you too late anyways, but that doesn't matter). You know my email-address ne? It's in my user-info too if you forgot it :D

OOH I'm so bad! I was so happy that Die choose Kaoru..and that he killed Toshiya. good god I hate myself now XD well what can I say, don't mess with my OTP =^___^=

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, don't hate yourself. Dear, it's fiction ne? Haha, and hey, it had to be like that^^ Evil Die and Kao just belong together and we love them like that (just like I always love to look at your icon x)

[identity profile] ghoul304.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
mixed emotions. xD
yay for Kaoru and Die. and omfg poor Toshiya o:
i dont even know what to think anymore...this was to confusing XD
cause like you center this fic more around toshiya and die. and yet its Kaoru and Die.
it was interesting to read =]

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope we didn't traumatize you too much. You know, I personally don't like death-fics, but like this, it's just fantasy and I think it had to happen. I mean, it was either Toshi or Kaoru and since we had this ready idea that Die and Kaoru are attached to each other by something like affection and loyalty.
So yeah, although the reader thinks (and I'm glad you did, because that means we did our job well) it's DiexToshi, the real pairing is DiexKao.
Thank you so much for reading and for your comment!

[identity profile] otonashi-alice.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! Die and Kaoru are together!^^

Toshiya was kind of getting on my nerves, just a little. He seemed a little naive and arrogant. And he wanted to kill Kaoru! That's definitely a no-no.

KaoruxDie! ^-^ -claps hands-

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you dear; for reading and for your comment.

Sure Totchi really was a bit naive, but hey, he was the human in this fic, he's allowed to have flaws. And he paid a high price ne? But you're right, Die and Kaoru belong together!

[identity profile] fatal-complexes.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
awwww!!!I love when toshiya broken heart!!! XD *run away from toshiya fans*

it's so vampirish manner to keep their companion,aw!die and kaoru for eternal!!!

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*pssst* I like the scene where Toshi's heart breaks and he dies too. It's so tragic and bittersweet in a way.

Thanks for reading and commenting. And of course it's kaoxDie forever x)

[identity profile] charlesfilth.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I admit I had to laugh somewhat. Eh.... I'll change the language, sorry.

Also.

*coughs* Vampires need blood 8D

hehe, we like Toshiya too, honestly! But in this story he just had to go since Die is meant for Kaoru ;)

Thank you! We're glad that you liked the fic^^

*coughs*

Okays... I've read this in one go just now, just because you've said it'll be dark, and I needed that today. (death to those moodswings, seriously.. -_-)

First of all, Who the hell wrote this and where are fonulyn and seinen_no???
This is so diffrent... absolutely not what I've expected from you.
But I enjoyed reading it, cause it felt so real.. (I'm talking about the kind of relationship Die and Kao have in this story)
It was nice to imagine an easy going Kao that doesn't make a fit about Die having a bit fun with someone else because he knows where he stands for a change. THAT is what I call trust, not the 'I'll be faithfull to you forever and ever' bullshit (No offense, you know I love your stories that go like that too).
And it was kind of amusing to see how naive Toshiya could be. I was thinking the whole time about how much will it take for him to realise the big mistake he's making? Apparently he never realised, nooo, you needed to kill him XD (I thought Shinya could've done a better job, actually..)
But well, I guess it's more fun this way for a vampire, manipulating your victime untill the end.
And,.. (please don't shoot me)I absolutely LOVED the last part. Toshiya felt véry crushed after he realised I guess. There you could feel the love between Die an Kao. Die was grinning for god's sake! If someone only had 1, unreadable expression around me, and I see that person laughing and grinning with another, I'd know it already..

Anyways, you did a great job on this one. You've plesantly surprised me.
And I forgive you the death of Toshiya and Shinya, it fit the story too well. Like you said, it was nessecary.

*opens archive to choose the next fic she'll read tomorrow*

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad that you read it anyways. Heh, see, there are fics for every mood ne? I can so understand you though. Usually, I like fluff and romance and happy endings and everything, but sometimes, I do need something dark (although it happens rarely). Still, I think this isn't THAT dark ne?

Haha, is it really so different from what we write usually? I think we both totally fell in love with the idea that the two, Die and Kaoru, are totally at ease with each other and that there is this deep trust that the other wouldn't cheat (I don't mean physically here, but more like mentally). And I'm (we're) glad that you liked that fact too^^

I personally pitied Toshiya a lot. He's the human side of this story and although he's a bit exaggerated, he is the real vicitim if one thinks about it. Although I do like it that everybody seems to be on the vampires' side (since that was kinda the intention). It's easy to make one fall for the bad guys, huh?

I won't shoot you, dear, because I personally (and I think fonulyn too) loved the last scene. We wanted Toshiya to Die with the knowledge that he never really had a chance. And I personally like the fact that Kaoru never lied to him, even warned him that he's only the pet and still Toshiya's naive side didn't want him to believe.

You know, instantly we wanted to include in the end that Die bends down to dying Toshiya and kinda admits that it has been him who has killed Shinya, but we couldn't make it fit anymore (since we forgot about that while writing that scene) and so left it to the reader's imagination.

Thank you for your nice comment, dear. Since I know you're critical, it means a lot to us that you liked it and that it indeed was a good surprise! *hugs & hands cookies*

[identity profile] daidetre.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I will avoid the huge rant and simply say that it broke my heart that you killed Toshiya.
Well that DIE killed Toshiya. *glowers at Kaoru*
Eeeeeeeh... I wanna rant so much...
But I don't wanna be the cause of some sort of fandom war xD Considering I don't mind DxK at all.

Moving swiftly on from dangerous waters, this was awesome. So unlike the other stuff you guys have written and it was really interesting to see you do a darker fantasy piece. And I like vampires xD so Vampire Die = yesyesyes
Poor Shinya though .__. And Kyo was awesome. Vampire Kyo -drools-
And it's awesome that Toshiya couldn't see what was right in front of him. I liked it because it's so realistic. We often alter reality in our own minds to what we want to happen, what we want to be real. And Tosh wanted to believe that Die loved him which of course, was the biggest mistake of his life.
Oh Tosh, I'll have you if Die doesn't want you. ;___;

And I decided to comment now because I just did some fanart :3
Well... kinda fanart. I've had a real block in the art department for about a month xD So the fact that this is fairly decent made me happy enough to post it. Since I've recently resorted to drawing Kyo as a chibi ballerina. -____-

http://daidetre.deviantart.com/art/Vampire-Die-133008171

I don't even know if you guys wanna look but whatever. You killed Toshiya so now I will force my crappy art on you. It's only fair. xD

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-08-12 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, first of all, I'm glad you liked it even though we killed poor Toshiya!

Second, your picture isn't crappy, it's cool and we are always eager to see nice fanart, so keep it coming, baby!

And well, you know, we wanted real bad-ass vampires there. Not one of these tame pat-like vamps you tend to see on TV all the time. I like 'em mean and dark and unpredictable. So yeah, poor Tosh had to die and trust me, it wasn't easy on us. Usually, I don't like to kill characters at all (meaning characters who are made after a real person), but this is AU and so it's okay, I think.
Like you said, we wanted to show that Tosh rather believed what he wanted than relying on his good common-sense or listening to his friend. It is indeed a side humans show very often, eh? And then we wanted to show the deep connection between Die and Kaoru. They don't need to be jealous of some human. Hell, they have all eternity together if they are smart enough.

Again, you're right. It's not a typical thing for us to write something so dark, but I, being a huge vampire- and horrormovie-fan, want to do it more. Only that we always have to come up with a good plot for these and that's not easy.

Would it console you if we said that we will definitely write a dark vampire-whatever-fic with Die and Tosh once? We already talked about it, but we need to wait for the right inspiration. I dunno, these dark things need much more thinking from us, AU in general. But I personally love it or then, WE love it. Gives you so many possibilities.

Damn, there are so many unwritten stories in our minds x) We need more time and more energy!

So thank you dear, for commenting and for not slashing us beause we killed poor Tosh (well, and Shin too *lol Nobody whines about Shin).
