seinen_no: Hmm, I forgot that the last chapter is so short. It's more like an epilogue and still I love it. It kinda closes this story and rounds it up, you know. And I just love imagening Die and Kao as a middle-aged happy couple who still love each other from the bottom of their hearts. So, have fun reading our ending and be sure that we have another story waiting already x)
I'm glad that so many of you liked this story, because it is precious for both,
fonulyn and me. We simply were in the need for something without huge drama and with many every-day life moments, with normal moments every parent and lover has to face sometimes. In the beginning, I was a bit afraid that people would only think it's boring and such, but now I'm glad that we posted it anyways and that so many of you followed it along till the end. Thank you guys, you are awesome! *hugs*
fonulyn: I don’t really know what to say here. It’s always sad for me to let go of a story, but the fact that it’s been already some time since we wrote this makes it kinda easier. I really hope that you like the ending too, and thanks to you all for your awesome support during this! haha, and we already have new stuff coming, so keep tuned for new stories!
And feel free to add our journal if you like the stories!
Plus, the archive.

First Love, Last Love
Chapter 14
Mika recovered soon from the labour, being back on her feet in record time. They seemed to deal well with their new routines with the child, although during the first weeks, every time Mika called, she sounded completely exhausted, because the child didn't let them sleep properly, waking up often during the nights. When the child was a few months old, Mika began to visit them with him regularly, and the baby soon leaned to recognize both of the guitarists.
She and Sho had spent a good amount of thinking for a fitting name for the boy and had finally decided to call him Kenji like Sho's grandfather and Mick since the girl was a total Rolling Stones fan. Besides, she was convinced that the boy's lips were looking exactly like those of the famous vocalist. The name earned Kaoru a lot of mocking since everybody thought he was responsible for that, but he denied everything.
Soon, the two guitarists had to go on tour again, although everybody, including their bandmates, would've preferred to stay. Just like when Mika had been a baby, they now adored her child and Toshiya was determined to make him a bassplayer since he had already lost Mika to Shinya and his drums.
A bit after the baby-boy's one year birthday Mika and Sho got engaged, planning to get married the next summer. Mika had gone back to school once the child was old enough to be left for someone else to take care of during the days, and she even managed to combine the studies with motherhood, because she was determined to make things work. Soon, the wedding plans were filling everyone's lives, although Nozomi took it to herself to help Mika arrange everything.
In the midst of everything, Mika still found time to visit the guitarists, either alone or with the baby. Two weeks before the actual wedding, she appeared at their doorstep again, Kenji dozing in the buggy. She was smiling, but if one looked closer one could see that she was a bit stressed. After being asked, she ensured though that it was a good kind of stress and told them how happy she was to finally marry the man she loved. Sho, who was one year older than her, had decided against studying since, with Kaoru's and Die's help, his band was developing quite well and had just signed a good record deal. Despite that, it was clear that his family came first.
Kaoru was laughing to himself, because his daughter was marrying somebody just like Die. The longer the older guitarist knew her fiancé, the more similarities to his own lover he found. After getting them something to drink, they all sat down on the couch. "I have something to inform you about," Mika began in her own determined way, looking to and fro between the two guitarists.
"Inform us about?" Die arched an eyebrow, grinning freely at the girl. "Please don't tell us you're going to have another child already, we haven't gotten over the first one yet." He laughed, and it was obvious that he meant it as a joke. They all simply loved Kenji to no end, and if she wanted to have a big family then they wouldn't mind.
"No, the next five are planned for after the marriage," the girl winked and when her father frowned at her, hit him playfully with her fist on his upper arm. "No, but actually it is about the wedding and the ceremony. See," she became more serious, "I always felt like having two dads and-" Kaoru interrupted. "What's with Hiroki?" Mika made a dismissive handgesture. "Hiroki doesn't count. I meant Die. And that's why I want you both to give me away to Sho," she ended her explanations, smiling again and curiously peeking at the redhead.
At first Die only stared at her in disbelief, not really comprehending the words because he hadn't expected that in the slightest. "You mean? Us both? As in Kao AND me?" He stuttered finally, still somewhat stunned.
"Yeah. That is," Mika chuckled, "if you want to. Hey, I'm mentioned in your last will, you ARE my father, if not related by blood."
"I would love to." Slowly a smile spread over the redhead's face, and one could both see and hear that he was touched by the gesture. "That'd be an honour." Kaoru simply sat there and couldn't express how proud he was at that moment, knowing that his daughter not only approved of his partner but loved him as much as her own father was precious. Subconsciously, he reached for Die's hand, squeezing it gently.
"Thank you." Mika beamed, truly meaning it. "It means a lot to me. After all," there was an impish sparkle in her eyes, "you've been the first to know about Sho and the first to know about Kenji too."
"And the one to sweat with the information until you gave the permission to get it out." Die chuckled, got off his seat and went to give the girl a hug. "It means a lot to me too. Thanks." His voice was a bit choked and inwardly he cursed himself for being such a crybaby, but he couldn't help it right now.
"You must forgive him," Kaoru joked lovingly, rubbing the younger man's back, "but he's getting old. And that makes him overly emotional."
Mika peeked at her father and then looked straight at the redhead. "So there's no screwing on the couch for you anymore, now that nobody can walk in on you?" she asked, referring to the incident a few years ago.
"Well," Die blushed, scratching his neck in a nervous gesture. "I wouldn't exactly say that. We're not THAT old yet. We still have years and years ahead of us."
"Don't you give away our secrets. You're talking to our daughter, not to one of the guys," Kaoru admonished playfully.
Mika was laughing, shaking her head. "Dad, I know how babies are made, you should take a look into the buggy."
"And technically it's almost the same," the redhead whispered to his lover with a grin, leaning a bit closer to him. "Although there's no danger one of us gets pregnant."
"You would be too old anyways," the girl stated convinced. "Although I'm sure a child of you two would be adorable. That is, if it has Die's lips and dad's nose."
The older guitarist smiled. "Yeah, you're right." He placed his hand on his lover's knee and pecked his cheek.
"Well, at least you have your father's nose so it's half right then." Die winked at her merrily, subconsciously shifting even a bit closer to the older man.
"A boy’s nose!" Mika remarked snorting. "You have no idea how often they called me names for it. But then, I was mocked because of dad often."
Kaoru smiled. "Yes, and what did I always tell you?"
"What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger," the girl shot back instantly.
"And you are a tough weed."
"It's a good-looking nose." Die was still at the previous topic, even frowning slightly. "Besides, what's the difference between a boy's and girl's nose anyway?"
"Girls should have small, straight noses, but mine is bent like dad's and kinda dominant in my face." The girl pointed out and playfully kicked Die's leg. "Maybe a potato-shaped one like yours would've been better."
"It's too big." The redhead chuckled, his smile instantly back. "Just be happy with what you got."
"I am." Mika nodded and got back to the initial topic. "So you will both lead me to the altar?" She didn't wait for a reply before she went on. "That's good, you know. So I have somebody at either side of me just in case if I faint."
"Just beware that one of us won't faint." Die warned her, trying to look as serious as possible. "It's a big day, and I wouldn't count on your father's nerves."
"Yeah, and you should have a pocket for tissues in your dress for Die will surely need them," Kaoru said and poked his tongue out at his lover.
"I can't even deny that." The younger man laughed freely, simply leaning to peck the older guitarist's cheek quickly.
They kept on talking and joking for a while still before Kaoru ordered them something to eat. Sho was having a gig somewhere in Tokyo and thus Mika had no hurry to return home. The two guitarists simply enjoyed having her there, liked the way how she involved them in her life still. It made Kaoru feel less misplaced and slowly he could accept that she had her own goals now, different motives driving her than him.
It was already late when she left that night, leaving the two guitarists alone. They still remained sitting on the couch for a moment, Die lying down and resting his head on Kaoru's lap. He still couldn't fully believe that Mika wanted them both to give her away, and it was just such a big honour that it left him speechless. Kaoru knew what was going on inside his lover right at that moment and just stroke his hair absent-mindedly while his thoughts were wandering towards the upcoming wedding. To him, it was a big deal to give his daughter away, even bigger now that his lover would be there with him. He wanted it to be the best day of her life and turn out just as she had imagined it.
Mika had been quite precise about certain things already, for example that the involved males would wear black suits but sneakers in them. She wanted a conventional and traditional wedding, but still refused to make it old-fashioned. And, what she had just told the guitarists, she had asked the other three members of Dir en grey to play a few songs since she loved their music, had grown up with it.
They all just wanted it to be perfect, and tried to give her everything she wished for this occasion. After all, it was a special day, and it should be memorable, so they were willing to work for it. Still, the news that they'd both be playing the father's role at the wedding was such a big deal to Die that he didn't seem to get over it in the first evening. They staid together on the couch for long, in complete silence, and when Die spoke up again the first thing he uttered was how much it really meant to him that she had asked it.
Patiently, Kaoru listened to him as even during the following days, his lover mentioned it over and over again. Luckily, Hiroki didn't take that fact as a personal offence since he had never been as close to Mika as the redheaded guitarist. It was important to Kaoru that Die knew everybody approved of him, he himself the most of course.
A couple of days before the wedding, it was a free weekday, the older guitarist showed his lover a magazine. There was a tiny picture of them inside, showing them holding hands and the next picture how they were exchanging a small kiss. He didn't have any problems with the press now knowing about their relationship, but feared that it could affect the wedding, was afraid that Mika and Nozomi could be bugged endlessly by reporters, let alone Die's family. It was just the wrong moment for something like that.
There was nothing much they could do about it though, but to hope that things would turn out well in the end. It still somehow affected them subconsciously, made them more reserved in public, and simply avoid small loving gestures if there was a slightest chance that a reporter could see them. It was nothing conscious though, but the stress the weddings caused was seeping into their minds, and they didn't want to cause any troubles. Even if they had given it a conscious thought, they would've been sure that it'd pass as soon as the wedding was over.
Luckily, there were only a few calls Mika received since Kaoru had made sure she was shielded very well from everybody. He tried not to read certain magazines anymore and just lived as if nothing had happened, ignoring the couple of emails they were receiving about this topic. Their management had known about them for some time already as had the people working with them and thus they had prepared for that occasion.
Ami, who of course had forgiven her best friend that she had taken the guy she had liked as well, especially now since they were having a family together and were getting married, had gone dress-shopping with Mika, accompanied by Nozomi. When Kaoru and Die had seen the result, they both had to admit that it would look stunning on the girl, although neither of them would've thought otherwise.
Slowly, it was about time that the planning came to an end, because the wedding was almost there. Mika had chosen a nice temple outside of Tokyo for the ceremony and a traditionally furnished hotel for the party afterwards. She knew it would become loud and people would be drunk in the end, so this had been the best choice. This way, everybody could just stay at the hotel without having the need to think about how to get away from the party.
They were lucky, and the wedding day turned out to be a bright and sunny one. It had been raining in the early morning hours, but when the time for the actual ceremony came, the sun was shining brightly down on them, as if she wanted to perfect the day. Naturally, both, Die and Kaoru, were dead nervous, and the only thing that made them keep their cool even somewhat was that they were there for each other, both in the same situation, just trying to survive it with honour and dignity.
Mika looked completely stunning in the dress, with her hair and make up done, and above all, she looked as happy as a person can get, practically glowing with happiness. Sho was already standing at the altar, nervously waiting for his future wife to appear. He hadn't seen the dress before and that fact made his heart pound even quicker than it already was. Before both guitarists took Mika between them, they ensured her how good she looked and how glad her husband was to get such a beautiful wife.
When the music was beginning to play, Kaoru took a deep breath and asked. "Ready?" Although Mika nodded, the question hadn't been meant for her but for his lover as much as for himself. The redhead took a deep breath as well, giving the older man a quick smile before they took the girl between them and guided her inside through those doors.
Every single pair of eyes was directed at them, and it was obvious that Mika was the star today, shining and smiling, taking everyone's breath away. Even both the guitarists managed to keep their calm, despite the nervousness and the frantic beating of their hearts. They were walking in slow motion and to Kaoru it seemed that the was living his life again in those few moments, as if everything he had done so far, every decision he had taken, had just been aiming at this moment where he would give his daughter away to the young man at the altar whose eyes were sparkling with love as he spotted the girl he was about to spend the rest of his life with.
The mere walk to the altar seemed to take on forever, but when they finally were there, the guitarists stepped back a bit, giving the girl away to her future husband. It looked like Sho only had eyes for Mika; he didn't seem to notice anything else around them at that moment. Knowing their duty was done, Die hooked his arm in Kaoru's, pulling him to the side.
For a short moment, the older guitarist looked up at him, love and gratefulness laced in his gaze. But then he directed his attention towards the ceremony again where Mika and Sho were just giving each other their vows. Witnessing this stirred a dozen emotions inside Kaoru and caused a few tears to well in his eyes.
It was an emotional moment for all of them, and probably everyone who was really close to the newly wedded couple was close to tears at one point. Die had to blink a few tears away from his eyes during the ceremony, but he was smiling all along, soon sneaking an arm around his lover's waist and simply pulling him closer, grateful to have him there for so long already, despite that they had never exchanged wows like these.
Still they both knew they were just meant to be.

Danke!

Immer wieder gerne. ^^
