[fic] Kyuhyun/Zhou Mi – SJM – Into Something Good – Oneshot

Title: Into Something Good
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fonulyn
Rating: PG
Pairing: Kyuhyun/Zhou Mi
Disclaimer: I own no one, only my dirty imagination.
Summary: There are some things in life worth holding on to.
Comments: I don’t know what this is XD I like the first two scenes. So I figured I could share it *laughs* There are other works in progress, I promise.

The soft rustling of sheets is almost too loud in the darkness. Zhou Mi doesn’t even need to look to know that Kyuhyun is struggling to get up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, stretching his shoulders. Wordlessly he slides closer, sneaking his arms around Kyuhyun’s waist. He is all warm skin and relaxed muscles, something Zhou Mi has grown addicted to months ago.

With a soft sigh, Zhou Mi presses his face right between Kyuhyun’s shoulder blades. He inhales the familiar scent, fills his lungs with it and secretly wishes this would never end. “Don’t go yet,” he whispers into the soft skin. His fingers trace a line right below Kyuhyun’s ribs, and he isn’t sure if it’s the touch or his damp breath that makes the man in his arms shiver lightly.

They both know that Kyuhyun needs to go, he has a musical to attend and he can’t just roll over and sleep, even if he wants to. Still, Zhou Mi can’t help but ask.

Kyuhyun releases the breath he has been holding and slowly, very slowly leans back until they’re both tangled in the sheets and each other again, all long limbs and skin on skin. He turns, slides his palm over Zhou Mi’s side and buries his face in the crook of his neck. “Five minutes,” he murmurs lowly, the sound barely audible.

Yet it’s more than enough to make Zhou Mi smile.

Of course it has to be raining. Kyuhyun grumbles to himself as he tries to shelter his hair from the raindrops with one hand, pulls his jacket close with another. His luck has never been good to begin with. At least not when it comes to weather. He doesn’t even bother to take a look in the rearview mirror when he slams the car door shut behind himself, he knows his hair is already wet and curly, and it’s going to be a nightmare for the stylists to fix.

He is grinning to himself nevertheless. Ruined hair or not, late for his schedules or not, he is smiling. He thinks back at the soft smiles and endless legs, tousled bed-hair and sleepy chuckles. And he wonders when he stopped thinking that morning breath was disgusting enough to delay good morning kisses after the brushing of teeth.

Kyuhyun finally catches a glimpse of himself in the rearview mirror and the second he sees the dumb lovestruck expression he tries to wipe it off, pursing his lips determinedly. Not that it helps when a few seconds later he is humming lowly to himself. His fingers tap against the steering wheel, along to the rhythm in his head and he steers the car out of the parking lot, easily sliding into the traffic.

One glance at the clock is enough to tell him he’s going to be late and he speeds up, careful not to exceed the limit too much. He doesn’t want to cause a full-blown scandal, after all. The rain, combined with the speed and the darkness, makes him miss the right intersection and all too late he realizes he needs to switch lanes. Crap, he curses inwardly and makes a quick turn to the right.

And the next thing he notices is a loud crash.

The next hours go by in a blur. Ambulances, police, managers and staff, hazy calls to people who need to know. Kyuhyun doesn’t even have the time to panic, things happen like in fast forward and somehow he has a feeling of déjà vu, like he has been through this before. No wonder.

He gets worried phone calls and messages from his friends, from his parents and from total strangers. He only answers a few of them, trusting for the word to get out. They will all know he is fine, and that is what matters. A few bruises on his legs and shoulders don’t count as anything in his books. They’re minor annoyances.

Besides, there is one phone call he is still waiting for. The most important one. But it never comes.

Finally Leeteuk comes to him and tells him he’s free to go home. Out of the hospital. That has to be the best news he’s had the whole day. He already had the time to beat himself mentally for being so stupid, tweeted an apology and dwelled in misery for a good hour. He didn’t only make his friends and his parents worry, but probably caused a minor heart attack to thousands of fans all over, and he is sorry about that.

Kyuhyun offers Leeteuk a soft smile, almost tentative. Yet Leeteuk only nods when he asks if he could drop him off at Zhou Mi’s place instead of taking him back to their dorm. The drive is silent and only when they already stop in front of the building, Leeteuk pulls him close for a tight hug. “I’m glad you’re alright.” He obviously means it straight from his heart. Kyuhyun hugs him back tight.

The whole apartment is silent when Kyuhyun steps inside, carefully closes the door after him and toes off his shoes. Zhou Mi is sitting on the couch, worry written all over his face. The way he is twisting his fingers shows clearly how wrung tight he is, how nervous. There is an almost wounded look in his eyes when he finally looks up at Kyuhyun.

It hurts, the distance between them. A part of Kyuhyun expected something different, a hug and reassuring words. Another part of him knows exactly where this is coming from. Slowly he steps closer until he is standing right next to the couch, close enough that they could touch if they tried. “Why didn’t you call?” He asks lowly, trying to keep the accusation out of his voice.

Zhou Mi swallows hard, tension in the set of his jaw. “I wasn’t sure if you wanted to hear from me.”

That is enough to break Kyuhyun’s already thin patience. “Why on earth wouldn’t I?” Already before asking he knows what the matter is. Zhou Mi is blaming himself for what happened. If he hadn’t asked for Kyuhyun to stay a bit longer in the morning, if he had offered to drive him, if he had acted different… the accident would’ve been avoided.

Kyuhyun knows it’s ridiculous and he wants to smack some sense into Zhou Mi. He doesn’t. He simply waits for an answer, trying to will himself relax.

“If I hadn’t… I’m selfish.” Zhou Mi begins quietly. There is dampness in his eyes and he looks away, tries his best to hide it. “I’m so selfish. If I just had – ”

“Stop it!” Kyuhyun snaps, unable to control the flash of frustration. “It is not your fault. It was me who didn’t pay enough attention in traffic. It could’ve happened anyway. It’s not like you placed that truck on my way and forced me to bump into it.”

Zhou Mi’s lips are pressed to a thin line, his jaw tense, and although he doesn’t say anything Kyuhyun knows he is not convinced. That stubborn bastard. With a soft sigh Kyuhyun sits down on the couch, trying not to growl as Zhou Mi flinches away from him. Ignoring that completely he sneaks an arm around Zhou Mi’s waist and leans against him, rests his head on a bony shoulder.

“Trust me. It’s not your fault.” He begins almost tentatively, searching for the words he wants to say. In the end they come easily. Long ago he gave up on trying to censor himself in Zhou Mi’s presence. “I’m not mad at you. Except that you’re a complete jerk for not calling me.”

That is actually enough to make Zhou Mi harrumph softly and without looking up Kyuhyun knows he is fighting a smile. He is certainly not holding back his own when he feels an arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer. “I’m sorry.” Zhou Mi whispers into his hair, his voice faint but honest.

“You’re forgiven.” Kyuhyun answers promptly, not making a single move to pull further from the warm embrace. He knows that although they haven’t exchanged I love yous or mushy confessions they have something good here, something worth holding on to.

And he knows he is not far from saying the words out loud, either. Not now. But one of these days.

Maybe that would be the last reassurance needed to chase away the insecurities.

---
1405 words.

It was supposed to be a part of a longer story, maybe that explains Zhou Mi’s reaction better. But I don’t see anything coming of the longer thing so I figured I’d just share this.

Kyubb? who's that now? Haha, I only know QMi hun XD

Oh hun, you'll like even the 2nd part, but I am sure you won't like the 2nd couple either. Heh, but it's easy not to like them 'cause they don't like Sunshine & Precious either. But there's enough scenes with our friendly eco terrorist and the Meth-lab redneck *laughs*
I was just thinking they are a bit like our kinky two sometimes. So horny always and not ashamed to do the naughty while driving with their hostages in the back-seat. It's fun, trust me. I shouldn't tell too much. I haven't read the 3rd one yet though... I know it's going to end with a cliffhanger and I have the 4th one too but man, I need happy end.

You do a lot dealing through writing. I like that. And your characterizations are always great.

haha I'm so sorry XD It's just Kyuhyun, another nickname for him x)

Oh if they don't like Sunshine and Precious then there's one more reason not to like them XD haha but those two are awesome together. Maybe I should really read the second book x) I hate cliffhangers D:

I think it's a good way to deal with things in general. (Which reminds me, I should probably now try to direct some energy into writing a couple of reports for school XD) Thank you :3 Though they could still get better XD

Ah, I should've known that XD Well, I don't know how he is but after all you told me, you get him quite well. At least after what I can say.

Well, gotta love how Sunshine flirts with one of the two though just to get Precious into a funk and then fuck like rabbits. They are so off the hook, but I think that's what I like so much, getting off on weird things which we like our two to get off on too XD
To save the plot, I have to admit that one of the others has a nice feature that gets some trouble into the story (and throws Precious off and makes him wanna strangle the man, rip out his guts and stamp on the remains). I think you would like reading that part too. Can't say much about the 3rd but since it's ending with a cliffhanger, I rather see the 3rd and 4th as one book which HAS to end with a happy end. I like though that you get to know more about MJ in the 2nd already and you want to know more about his past. Luckily, the serious story is interrupted by lots and lots and lots of smut. I wonder if the author wrote it like we write our story. "Hell, one more can't harm. We can still cut it out"

Hah, do schoolwork but don't you dare to be too tired. I am a bit, though, have to admit. And have an early day tomorrow, but I am determined to write a bit of our two new hotties. Gotta make Tosh tougher *laughs*
