fonulyn: It’s been ages since I posted some D/K (or pretty much anything) so I decided that I could throw this out there :) I somehow seem to always have problems actually posting the things I write, and they end up waiting weeks in my folders. I try to get better, promised. And feel free to kick my butt for it! Seriously XD Just make me move. I hope you like this snippet though! It’s more autumn-y than fitting the current (freezing) weather but who cares ;) This was inspired by the lovely prompt here.

Worth Waiting For

Sometimes, Die thinks that he has made a real career out of waiting Kaoru. The older man is always late, he is always fixing some last-minute things that simply can not wait, and he’s always insisting on doing those personally. Die has waited for him at the studio, at their shared apartment, at the venues, at bus stops, at shops and restaurants. Even now he is waiting, standing in the middle of pouring rain, the canopy of the cafeteria only enough to shelter him from the worst. The wind is blowing so hard that the rain isn’t really falling down, it’s hitting him almost horizontally. It only takes less than two minutes and his jeans are completely soaked, dripping wet.

Still, he stands there, hugging his jacket closer to himself to gain at least some shelter from the ruthless wind. Patiently, he stands there and waits, since he knows that it will all be worth it in the end. Actually, he doesn’t even mind waiting. His life is hectic enough as it is, so having these moments to focus merely on existing, to think, has become essential to him. He is longing for a cigarette but knows that in a wind like this it’s impossible to light one, so he doesn’t even try. Instead he shifts a little, shoves his hands into his pockets to keep them warm now that his joints begin to ache.

It’s not a moment too early when he finally can see a familiar figure approaching him in quick steps, the older man’s shoulders hunched a little as he tries to hide underneath the black umbrella in a futile attempt to keep himself dry. He only notices Die when he is a few steps away, and instantly a smile spreads on his lips. The street is empty, Kaoru has very well noticed it already, so he doesn’t even hesitate when he wraps his arms around the taller man’s form, the umbrella falling down on the wet ground, discarded. Instantly water starts to pool in it, making the item look abandoned forever. Automatically, Die brings his arms around the smaller man in turn, returning the embrace.

”Your shampoo smells nice,” Kaoru remarks in a gentle voice as he buries his nose into Die’s dark brown, slightly damp hair. It’s not like him to share compliments, usually he’s more the kind of man who lets deeds speak for themselves. He believes that one gesture speaks more than a thousand words. Yet, there are moments when he can’t hold back, when these soft words spill from his lips on their own. They are always spoken the same way, in this certain tone that allows Die to catch a glimpse at the very core of the other man, the essence of him.

When Kaoru tells Die he wants to go home, Die knows that those words go deeper than the mundane meaning.

By saying “let’s go home”, Kaoru actually says “I love you”.

And Die loves him too.

Aaaawww! I really love this. It's been some time since you showed it to me and I almost forgot about it. But I like the mood, Die waiting like a good puppy and still he has a good reason to do so because Kaoru always comes.

Thank you hunney :) I had almost forgotten it too. Damn I still have half a dozen finished ficcies I didn't post XD They're all shortshort though. But I suppose I should post them anyway. And hey, of course Die has a good reason to wait ;D Plus he kinda enjoys it too, secretly x)

You know what!? XIN BOUGHT US FLOWERS! It's the Women's Day and we saw commercials the whole weekend how people should buy flowers to celebrate it, and I was whining that no one ever buys me flowers and now Xin got both Tuire and me a small bunch of tulips! I got pink tulips! ;__; No one ever got me flowers, ever! I'm almost crying here!

Haha, I always have to get me flowers myself too hun, trust me. But Xin is the sweetest thing on earth! Tell him that. I know it's women's day, but does any of my colleagues recognize it? No!

That was nice. And yes, you should post the others. It's probably just me and things going like ugh generally for me, but it seems the deg fanfic fandom is rather quiet, and even if i didn't always read what you wrote, the constant posting kept a sort of balance which i miss. I know it's entirely selfish but it's true. Lately it feels all the ships are leaving the bay or something like that and for once, this made me happy.

Thank you :) I noticed too that it's been quiet lately in the fandom. I mean, it's always quiet, but now it's like... extra quiet. In a total standstill. I'll try to get the rest of the ficlets up too instead of waiting for ages with them. It's just that whenever I don't write new things, I kind of subconsciously begin to store the old things so I'd always have something new to post. Stupid, yeah, but it happens automatically. But yeah I'll try to get them posted.

yes exactly. it feels that way doesn't it? total standstill. i wonder why. i wish we got some new blood too, fresh writers etc. but oh well. i really wonder what is up with this. them becoming older, or taking a break for the studio, or something... i dunno

Yeah it does feel like it. I don't know why, it never used to make things stop when they took a break for studio or something. Maybe they're just not fashionable anymore? People write of different bands and things. Which is, for me, sad since this is pretty much the only one of my fandoms :/

I have missed your DiexKaoru so this has made me happy in such a stupid way. :) Thank you, as always, you've made it lovely through its light heartedness. Does that make sense? I mean, it's light AND yet LOVELY. Because it's light. Err...alright, I need to go to sleep. And dream of Kaoru smelling Die's hair. ^________^.
