seinen_no: Hey dears! Gods, it took some time eh? Let me apologize, but there was a lot of stress lately with planning the summer and arranging things. I'm still not done yet, but it's better now (hopefully) and at least there are a couple of national holiday following where I am off from work^^ Some time to relax XD Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this. Gods, isn't it frustrating? I think though that everybody knows a situation like that^^
fonulyn: The whole chapter actually only consists of one scene really, but it’s pretty long so it deserved its own chapter this time XD They’re making progress! Or at least trying really hard 8D So how far do they get with their plans this time..? *mysterious pause* … read to find out!

Chapter 6: Tough luck
Summer holidays came and put their relationship to a tough test as there really wasn't much time to see each other. The first week was hard because Kaoru had to get an overview over his lessons and when they would end, being dead beat once he came home. Still, he was determined to make it and see Die at least for a few hours one day, but the redhead had been ordered to visit his grandmother together with his siblings and was gone for three days in a row.
The second week, the older teen already got annoyed with how things went as he heard from friends that Die had been seen at a party here and the movies there. Of course Die was supposed to have fun too, but it was annoying when they didn't see each other while the longing to be close to his boyfriend grew with every passing second, and he had to admit that he was slightly jealous. The reason why Die was spending so much time going out with friends was that he was trying to distract himself from missing the older teenager too much, but although Kaoru could have guessed it, it simply wasn't that easy.
Die tried to keep himself busy and maybe have fun by the way, because he knew that those evenings they wouldn't have been able to meet anyways. He hung out with Kyo a lot, at times annoying his friend by babbling about Kaoru endlessly. Eventually there were some chances for them to meet too though, and Die was looking forward to it more than anything in a long time. His parents would take Erika to see a play in another city and they would stay there overnight. His younger sister, Aino, was supposed to be taken to a babysitter and that would leave the perfect opportunity to spend some time with his boyfriend.
Kaoru ran almost all the way to Die's house as he couldn't wait to see him, to hug him again and since the other teen had told him they would be alone, he was even more looking forward to it. He had told his mother he would be out that night and stay with a friend directly after summer school. As always, his mother had only nodded and admonished him not to slack off with his studies. But that, he almost hadn't heard anymore, being with Die in his mind already.
Huffing like an old steam-engine, he rang the doorbell and when the redhead opened, he gave him one of his brightest smiles. "Are we really alone?" he asked suspiciously before stepping inside, not daring to hug the other one yet when he wasn't sure if his parents were still there or not.
"Not yet," Die shook his head quickly, but one could tell by his smile how much he was looking forward to the evening and night. The fact that they were going to be alone for the whole night too already made his heart beat faster and his mind provided several images of what could happen. His mother had been a bit suspicious to leave him alone although he was old enough already, but she had calmed down once she had heard Kaoru would come to keep him company. Now she appeared from the kitchen, instantly flashing a smile at the older teen. "Oh, Kaoru, nice to see you! You've been busy with school, right?"
"Yes, very busy." Politely, the older teen nodded and gave Mrs Andou a smile. He liked the woman a lot since she was so different from his own mother. Mrs Andou was warm and lively, always wore a smile and had round cheeks which seemed to be permanently flushed. The fact that she head a few pounds too much didn't make her less attractive. "But luckily I got off a bit earlier today and Die and I are planning to spend the whole evening just watching movies and playing games," he lied without blushing. Probably, they wouldn't even touch the TV.
At that moment, the phone rang and Mrs Andou excused herself, getting it. While she was talking, Kaoru turned to smile at the redhead, unable to get his eyes off him. "We could go to my room?" Die suggested instantly. "Mom already gave me a lecture about all the things I need to remember and she trusts you." He chuckled, gesturing for the older teen to follow.
They had just reached the stairs though when Die's mother called for her son. "Die, don't go up yet, something happened." Both boys froze in the movement and turned around. Die's mom wore an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry dear, but the babysitter fell ill and now we need you to take care of Aino. Your dad and I are practically gone already, so there's no time to get another one."
"Take care of her?" Die's eyes widened instantly and he sounded a tiny bit desperate even. "But mo-om! We had - I had plans and she'll ruin them..." He knew he'd give in, of course, but he couldn't hold back the protests.
"C'mon, don't make a scene. She'll go to bed at six thirty and then you only have to make sure to see if she needs something." His mother smiled. Aino, Die's youngest sister, was four years old and usually a good sleeper. Lately though she had been crankier and had been screaming a lot at nights, which would totally ruin the mood.
"But..." Die sighed and hung his head in defeat. "Alright, of course. But there is enough food for her in the fridge so I don't have to cook?"
"There's enough." His mother eyed him with pity and then ruffled his hair. "Be glad you have to babysit so few times only. Your dad and I are out now!" She turned and yelled for Erika and her husband. Mr Andou greeted the two boys, wished them fun, but then they were gone already.
"Don't worry," Kaoru tried to see the positive side. "At least she won't just barge into the room once she's in bed."
"Yeah, but she'll scream and that's not a nice thing either." Die didn't bother to cover his pout and how much he simply didn't like this. "Let's at least find that brat now..."
Nodding, Kaoru followed him upstairs to see if the baby-girl was in her room. She was sitting in one of these grit-squares which kept babies from sneaking away and one look was enough to know she was at the verge of screaming already, knowing her mother was gone now. "Shhhtt..." Kaoru tried, smiling at her. "Don't cry. Die and I will play with you now."
The girl made a disagreeing sound and stretched out her arms to show she wanted to get away from the limiting cage. With a huge sigh Die lifted her up, placing her on the floor and sitting beside her. "I would love to give you some sleeping pills now, you know." He looked at the girl, keeping a serious face.
She stared at him from huge eyes, not understanding what he had meant. But she did know what she wanted and babbled something about cookies and milk and chocolate. Kaoru grinned. "Maybe we can bribe her?" Then, he turned to face Aino. "Will you be a good girl and sleep quietly when we allow you to eat some cookies now?" She nodded hastily and Kaoru asked his friend. "Is she trustworthy?"
"No." Die grinned, ruffling her hair instantly. He got up from the floor, grabbing her hand in his. "Let's see about the cookies, shall we? But first you'll be a good girl and eat the food mom left for you." The girl pulled a face, but didn't protest further at least.
It took ages until they had finally descended the stairs since the girl wanted to do it alone, but wasn't very skilled yet and had to cling to Die's hand. In the kitchen, she was happily sitting in her chair though and obediently munched her food. Kaoru had stepped behind the redhead, his hands resting on his hips as he thought the girl couldn't see them. "This is bad, you know. I've been looking forward to seeing you all day. Ah, scratch that, all week!" he whispered into his boyfriend's ear, not knowing what kind of effect his tone of voice could have.
It was enough to make the redhead shiver though and he closed his eyes, swallowing hard. "You think I wasn't looking forward to this so much?" He confessed in a low voice. Aino was more interested in the food right now than the conversation, not seeming to notice anything.
"No. I more think you were eagerly preparing everything so that it would be all set and done once I come here. I bet you even tidied your room a bit," the older teen replied, chuckling lowly. Then, he whispered straight to the redhead's ear. "I want to kiss you so much."
"Kaoru..." Die sighed, shivering a bit again as the mere thought made him yearn for that kiss even more. "Don't make it harder for me than it already is..."
"I'm sorry. I only thought we could make her watch some cartoons after she ate, give her a cookie and then we prepare her for bed so that we get a moment alone."
"NOW you're talking!" The redhead chuckled, turning to look at the other teen with a bright grin on his face. "Maybe she'll be content with the cartoons by herself."
"Aino?" Kaoru addressed the little girl, a sweet smile on his lips. "What do you say, you wanna watch a bit TV when you're done eating? Die and I have to study, so we'd stay here in the kitchen in case you need something. Is that good?"
"I wanna watch the Super Teddy!" The girl announced instantly, nodding several times with a bright grin on her lips. "And I want cookies!"
"You get cookies. But not too many." Kaoru nodded, took Aino out of her chair and played aeroplane with her on their way to the living-room. "Die, which channel?" he asked grinning, seating the girl down on the floor. "And if you need us, you only have to yell. We're right next doors."
The redhead hurried to switch on the TV, picking the right channel and instantly Aino squealed happily. She was munching on a cookie and held another one in her hand, her eyes fixed on the screen. That allowed the teenagers to sneak away into the kitchen.
Once the door was shut behind them, Kaoru pulled the other teen close into his arms. Although there were so many things on his mind he would have wanted to say, he settled for simply bringing their lips together in a long, deep kiss. After all, they didn't know when Aino would need their attention again and he certainly didn't want to leave this night without even getting a single kiss.
Instantly Die's hands shot up and he tangled his fingers in the other teen's hair to deepen the kiss even further. They took their time with it, enjoying the contact and simply getting lost in it. Finally they parted, just smiling at each other for a long moment. After some time Die opened his mouth, breaking the silence. "Kao, I -"
At that same moment a voice sounded from the living room though, Aino calling for her brother. "Diiiee! Dii-eeeeh!" That caused the redhead to roll his eyes and he released a huge sigh. "I'll go check on her." Reluctantly he detached from the embrace, heading to the living room instantly. It took a while but when he came back, he looked clearly annoyed. "There were commercials and she wanted to know when the cartoon would be back..."
"Don't be angry at her. She doesn't know better." Kaoru smiled and stretched out his arms, waiting for the other teen to come close again. After a short moment, he raised his eyebrows, looking Die deep into the eyes. "You? What was it you wanted to say?"
"Nevermind." The redhead blushed a bit, averting his gaze down. He leaned closer sneaking his arms around the other one's neck and planted a kiss on his lips.
"Nevermind?" Kaoru didn't seem to be content with the answer and one could see it by the small wrinkle that appeared between his eyes.
"I was just about to say how much I was looking forward to seeing you tonight..." Die admitted, a shy smile dancing on his lips.
The answer made Kaoru smile as well and he rewarded the redhead with a small kiss. "I am thinking about you all day," he admitted in a soft voice and it wasn't a lie as he truly had problems to focus at school sometimes, wishing he hadn't applied for summer school.
"So you find me more fascinating than equations?" The redhead chuckled, looking straight at the other teen with sparkling eyes.
"My equations are logical. YOU are unpredictable," the older teen remarked grinning. "Only too bad that we don't have much time for ourselves tonight. I was hoping for some... You know... Cuddling." The smirk on his face showing that he meant much more.
"Oh, well, didn't you say you might be able to stay overnight?" Die tilted his head, ghosting his lips over Kaoru's. He couldn't resist the temptation though and it evolved into a real kiss. When they parted, he went on with a grin. "She'll go to bed early and we'll have time... for cuddling."
"I can stay over night," Kaoru nodded. "Tomorrow, school starts later and I can go there straight from here. My mom won't even notice it." He smiled widely, but then Aino called for them again and he couldn't say anything further. It appeared that the girl enjoyed the attention of her brother and his friend a lot and thus demanded them to be around her a lot.
They ended up sitting in the living room, on the couch with the little girl between them, watching cartoons together. Aino seemed to enjoy the moment, and not even her brother's slight frowning made her less happy. Die couldn't deny that it was nice in its own way and he would've enjoyed the evening like this too if it hadn't been for the fact that he only saw his boyfriend so rarely these days.
He had been hoping for so much more, for cuddling and... well, maybe even something more since they were supposed to spend the night all alone the two of them. But instead of enjoying his time with his boyfriend between the sheets on his bed he found himself watching stupid cartoon characters for hours.
It was already way past Aino's time when Kaoru finally turned to look at the girl. "So, we gave you cookies and watched with you cartoons for hours. Now you have to be a good girl and go to bed." He smiled, but the girl began to pull a face, shaking her head. Only when he reminded her of her promise, she allowed them to take her upstairs and into the bathroom where she made the boys pull off a huge show until she was willing to brush her teeth and get dressed for bed. But when Die had spread the blanket over her finally, sighing in deep relief that he would now be allowed to get some alone-time with his boyfriend, she demanded a good-night story, insisting on it.
Die almost told her to forget it and shut the fuck up but he knew that it would probably be faster if he just complied. So he spent the next half an hour sitting beside her bed and reading random stories to her. Thankfully she was beginning to drift off eventually, and when it looked like she was asleep he carefully got up and sneaked out, switching the light off.
Sadly, Kaoru's eyes were heavy too and when he was falling on his boyfriend's bed, he felt like drifting off as well. Sitting a child was far more exhausting than tutoring them when they were older. Still, he managed to give the other teen a smile. "I hope she stays silent now..."
"Well, you at least will." Die tried to frown but Kaoru simply looked too adorable sleepy like that and his attempt failed somewhat. "I thought your bedtime was hours later still," he winked.
"It is." Kaoru smirked and when Die carefully put his knees on the bed, suddenly grabbed him and pulled him down. "But hearing all these bedtime stories made me kinda tired." Despite his words, he sounded far more awake than just a moment before and he instantly let his hands slide down the other teen's back until he could give his butt a slight squeeze.
That made Die chuckle and he leaned a bit closer, rewarding his boyfriend with a soft kiss. "So does that mean you want to sleep now then? I can tell you a bedtime story too."
"Okay." The older teen grinned maliciously while his fingers were searching for the hem of the redhead's shirt as he desperately wanted to feel his skin. Just having Die lying on top of him was blissful though and he didn't want him to leave this position soon. "You could give it a try..."
"But I don't know if you wanna hear about the little red riding hood who's going to visit her granny..." Die had closed his eyes and rested his head against Kaoru's chest, enjoying the soft touches and the closeness, the first moment they really had for themselves all day.
"No, but if you alter the story a bit, it might be interesting." Kaoru chuckled a bit and after a moment went on. "What if we replace little Red Riding Hood with this incredibly handsome prince and in reality, 'visiting granny' means he's seeing his secret lover of whom nobody knows."
At that very moment the sound of Aino's voice carried into the room from next doors. It made Die roll his eyes and he reluctantly got on his feet. "Yeah, and when he gets to the palace where his secret lover lives, he finds out they have to take care of the little princess and won't have a single moment together."
The older teen let out an agreeing snort, but then heaved himself up to help his friend with the little brat. It was as if Aino knew how to play them and constantly managed to break the moments. In reality, she was only enjoying that the two always came running whenever she called for them. By the time they were sure she was fast asleep, it was way past midnight and both teens were exhausted. Above everything, they feared that they would be interrupted again whenever they dared to relax and just enjoy being with each other.
Die was frustrated enough to almost start crying but they were too tired to do anything anymore. Once they hit the mattress the redhead was drifting off instantly no matter how much he tried to fight it, unable to stay awake to steal even a few moments of togetherness. Kaoru followed him into the land of dreams, only able to cuddle close to his boyfriend's warm body before he fell asleep. At least that was something new; that they slept in the same bed, spending the whole night together. Of course it had been planned a bit differently as the two had been too tired to even get rid of their clothes properly, but it still was a new experience.

You know, I just read this one story you posted some days ago, I had it opened in a tab ever since, but when I updated the page to drop a comment it said the entry was deleted x) Did you come to second thoughts about posting it or? Just curious!

ah yeah, I had second thoughts about it, that's why I deleted it. xD I didn't think that anyone had read it yet, so I thought I was safe lol! oops? xD

haha, just wondered XD Mozilla saves the open tabs so it opens them even if they got deleted afterwards, so that's how I got to still read it x) Sorry, hopefully it doesn't bother you! But I thought it was sweet, made me smile really much actually :D
