[livejournal.com profile] fonulyn: This is one of those domestic drabbles I seem to be so fond of, and I have to admit that I quite like the thought of moments like this XD I could write tons of snippets from life like this, these short glimpses to everyday life. So if you have some random ideas you want to be turned into drabbles, just hit me. And a huge thanks for my better half, [livejournal.com profile] seinen_no, for proofreading this for me ♥

And feel free to add our journal if you like the stories!
Plus, the archive.

Welcome Home

It was already dark when Kaoru finally reached the familiar apartment complex, stopping in front of it only for long enough to punch in the code that would allow him to get inside. He hardly even noticed that anymore, was too used to it and did it without thinking. His mind was still circling around the interview he had attended earlier that day, as well as the meeting afterwards, endless discussions about how the next tour would be handled in detail.

He was still thinking about the sudden problems that had occurred as they had tried to get a bus big enough to fit the whole band plus a few staff members in it during the tour when he stepped into the elevator, absent-mindedly pressing the right button so that the thing started moving. His hand slid into his pocket, fumbling for the keys that were lying hidden amongst all the papers and notes, somewhere behind the pack of cigarettes.

Only when Kaoru reached the door of their apartment, he was pulled back from his contemplations, a soft smile appearing on his lips as his thoughts drifted towards the younger guitarist. He was pretty certain that he would find his lover sitting on the couch, maybe a book on his lap because he had tried to stay awake for long enough and still sleep had overcome him eventually. He already could see that peacefully sleeping face in his mind’s eye, the thought making his smile widen even further.

The door clicked open and silently he sneaked inside, trying to close the door so that it wouldn’t make a huge bang when the lock closed again. He wanted to see if he had been right, and if he would now wake the younger man up it would be no fun. When he finally stepped into the living room he had to notice that he had only been half right with his assumptions.

Die was sleeping alright, lying on the couch with his face turned towards the television, his legs pulled up on the seat as he had curled up comfortably. There even was an empty tea mug on the small table in front of the couch, a dark red blanket half on top of the rhythm guitarist and half dropped on the floor. The whole sight was so heart-warming that Kaoru simply stopped on his tracks, trying to imprint everything of the scenery in front of him into his memory.

Then he noticed that the TV was still on, and curiously moved to the side to see what was running. Obviously Die had just inserted a DVD before falling asleep, because otherwise whatever he had been watching would be over already. A low chuckle escaped Kaoru as he noticed it was one of their old holiday videos, the day when they had all gone out to the beach that wasn’t much further from where their vocalist was living. It had been a sunny day filled with laughter and happy people, and he still remembered it as clearly as if it had been yesterday.

This part of the video was something he had filmed himself, and when the camera turned straight towards the red headed guitarist it instantly resulted in Die smiling brightly and blowing him a kiss. Even now Kaoru raised his hand as if to catch the kiss from mid-air, closed it into his palm and pressed it over his heart. For a moment he got caught watching the happenings on the screen, but then slowly shook his head as if to return back to the present moment.

He reached out for the remote control and switched off the television and the DVD-player, turning his gaze towards the sleeping man on the couch. That sight was something he never got enough of, and silently he crouched down in front of the couch, reaching out his hand to touch that soft cheek gently. He allowed his fingertips to brush over Die’s cheek, up to his temple where he moved aside a dark strand of hair that had fallen on the sleeping man’s face.

It still didn’t seem to be enough to wake Die up so Kaoru leaned closer, allowing his breath to wash over his lover’s lips for a few seconds before he closed the last distance between them and kissed that inviting mouth chastely. It was merely lips on lips, soft like the touch of a feather, and still it slowly made the younger man’s eyelids flutter until he opened them fully.

They had been together for so long that they didn’t need a single word. Die only smiled softly, Kaoru mirrored the gesture, and after exchanging one soft kiss the older man already pulled back and straightened again. His palm came to rest on the younger man’s shoulder gently as he sat upright on the couch, finally getting on his feet.

Every single gesture, every movement and every glance spoke worlds. More than any words ever could have.

Thank you! I love drabbles like that too, these glimpses to their everyday life and to the normal, slow moments that actually make life worth living. Glad to hear that someone else likes them too ;)

Most of my SugizoxKaoru ones are like that, just drabble snapshots. I have one or two of Die and Kao but I can't remember where in my journal they are lol.

They're just good to write, therapeutic especially if you're in a bad place because they tend to bring a smile to your face.

Exactly :) They always have the tendency to make me smile a lot, so it's really good for some cheering up!
