seinen_no: Okay, now I have to write three comments for the three different endings... I can't even remember anymore why we came up with three endings initially. I know we wanted some drama and such, so it came almost by itself.
Anyhow, although this always makes me cry when I read it, I really like this ending a lot. It's totally cliché, I know, but it just fits the story, don't you think? And hey, I think it's common knowledge that I'm (we are) a sucker for huge love-stories!
fonulyn: Well, this turned out to be harder than we imagined XD It was easy to just write three endings and decide ‘oh we post them all’ but then when we started to think how we should post them we faced some serious troubles XD So thank you so much for everyone who answered to the poll! It really helped us to make the decision and I hope we came to the conclusion that satisfies you all^^ Do enjoy the last chapters, and let us know what you think ;)
This one is one that I read when I’m in a certain mood XD I like it, but that might just be me, so decide for yourselves ;D
And feel free to add our journal if you like the stories!
Plus, the archive .

Worlds Collide
Chapter 6a
"So you deny everything?" The lord asked, not sure how many times he had asked it already. Somehow he felt betrayed, because his own son didn't stand up for the order his father represented, and was now suspected of breaking one of the most important rules. Besides, his younger son had been quite convincing, had told him things that made him think that maybe his firstborn had changed too much during the years he had been away.
On the floor Die was silently praying that the lord would believe them, afraid that they would hurt his lover, do something to him. And he simply couldn't take much more of the pain either, his back bleeding from several cuts.
"Kill him!" The lord's words echoed in the otherwise totally silent room and Kaoru's heart stopped beating. Even the guards and his younger son looked at him questioningly. "Once he's gone, there won't be a problem anymore. No mistrust," the man stated nodding.
One of the guards already drew his sword and took a step towards the redhead, but before he could make his final strike, the young heir leaped himself at his lover, shielding him with his own body. "No, please don't. Father, don't kill him." Tears were running over his cheeks as he looked into the unforgiving face of the older man while he held his love in his arms.
Die turned to look at the man beside him, his eyes wide in shock, the lump in his throat threatening to suffocate him. "No..." he whispered, shaking his head slowly, since he knew this meant serious troubles for Kaoru. He almost wished they would've killed him already, so that he could've spared the one he loved although it meant losing his own life.
Everyone was like frozen after the words, the lord staring at his son. He was about to deny, but suddenly a voice sounded through the silence. "Yes, father, don't kill the slave." Tanaka stepped forward, looking at his father. Die's heart skipped a beat as he couldn't believe someone stood up for them. The hopes went down as quickly as they had risen though, as Tanaka went on. "Give him to me."
Kaoru looked at his brother, unable to process everything completely. Giving his love to this man would equal eternal torture and he would never allow that. "You want a filthy slave like that? He even infiltrated your brother's mind," the lord asked, looking at his younger son. But then, a smile ghosted across his lips and he nodded. "So shall it be. The slave is from now on yours. Do as you wish with him."
Before the guards could drag him away, Kaoru leaned forward, whispering into his lover's ear. "Don't give up. I'll find a way." But before he could kiss him too, he was yanked away, thrown to the ground by his younger brother. He didn't care what happened to him, didn't mind that he was dragged into his room, his father yelling at him that he would receive his punishment later.
Die didn't mind that he was crying openly, hunched on the floor as the other man was dragged away from him. It was all too much, everything crushing down on him. He barely noticed when the guards lifted him up from the ground and dragged him along with Tanaka following straight behind. The lord's younger son was smiling contently, as this had turned out better than he could've ever expected, he really got his revenge now. And he enjoyed it to no end.
Kaoru was locked up in his chambers and left alone. Two guards were waiting outside the door though to make sure he wouldn't try to get to the redhead. First, he only cowered on the floor, suffering from a nervous breakdown. How could everything have tuned out so bad? Why didn't people see that their love was something beautiful, pure and pristine? But slowly, he realized that he would have to think of a way out for them soon. Tanaka surely wouldn't want to keep Die forever and would only take utter delight in torturing him, abusing him until he would finally get rid of him one way or another, making sure that Kaoru had to witness it. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind and think like the leader of an army instead of a weak woman.
It seemed that Tanaka was so high on his unexpected victory that he wanted to celebrate it instantly, because Die was being dragged to his room straight, thrown onto the floor. He cried out as his abused back hit the hard ground, the searing pain shooting through his form. But he knew it wasn't everything, that the other man was far from being done with him. Somehow he managed to numb himself, shutting everything out of his mind and just escaped to the happy memories he shared with his lover while Tanaka made sure there wasn't a part in him that wouldn't be bloody, bruised or burned after he was done.
Kaoru tried to repress the knowledge about what his lover was going through at that moment and instead carefully searched his rooms for a way out. Although the windows were high above the ground, he considered trying to escape through them. Sadly, his father had known that his son was skilled and desperate enough to try it and had doubled the guards in the yard. The young man had almost given up hope, when a slave entered his chamber, clad in the usual robe, to serve some food.
One look at him and Kaoru knew that this would be his only chance. Using a heavy goblet, he knocked the man out, whispering a faint "I'm sorry", when he hastily undressed him and then got rid of his own clothes. Their hair had a matching colour and even their form was almost equal. Who took a closer look at a serving slave anyways? So he took the empty tray in his hands, lowered his gaze and knocked at the door for the guards to let him out. He was ready to fight the men in case they happened to suspect something.
They just cast a shallow glance at him though, opened the door and allowed him to him pass before locking it again securely. First step had succeeded, as now Kaoru was at least out of his own room. He still would need to get into Tanaka's chambers though, and after that out from the whole palace to succeed with his plan.
Meanwhile Tanaka was having the time of his life, as he had never even guessed that torturing a slave would be this much to his liking. After he had made sure that the guards wouldn't let the slave away from the room in any case, he retreated for a while, leaving the almost passed out redhead behind.
Kaoru needed long to cover the distance from his wing of the place to the wing where Tanaka had his chambers. Whenever he heard steps, he pressed himself against the wall, sneaking into the shadows or recesses. Somewhere on his way, he thought that this was crazy, trying to face his brother and possible guards unarmed, but the thought of his lover being tortured urged him on, didn't allow him to stop by anywhere to retrieve a sword.
When he had reached the long corridor that led to Tanaka's chamber, he again heard steps and quickly hid in one of the recesses before the windows, cowering down in the shadow there. His heart stopped beating a moment when he saw his brother pass by. This was his chance. For some stupid reason, he still held the empty tray in his hand and now grabbed a vase, hoping again for his luck that the guards wouldn't notice.
And indeed, when he explained the men that he was sent to clean the redheaded slave for the next round, his eyes cast down submissively, the men let him pass and slip into the room. "Oh god!" The words had slipped him before he had even thought them when he spotted his lover's abused form on the cold marble floor. For a few beats of his racing heart, he even thought that he was too late, that Die was dead.
The younger man heard the familiar voice somewhere in the distance. He was too lost in the pain and his own head that he didn't recognize the other man straight, but thought that Tanaka had just returned. Collecting his strength he managed to turn to his side, sheltering his head with his arms, a broken sob shaking him.
Tears were running down Kaoru's cheeks when he knelt down beside his lover, touching his shoulder ever so softly. "Die, it's me. Please, you must get up. Please." His voice was so silent that he feared the other man wouldn't hear him. Die's whole body was covered with bruises, vales and streams, blood seeping out of countless cuts. Not daring to touch him in order not to hurt him more, Kaoru again begged. "Please, love. We have to flee."
Die turned his head, something between relief and love instantly flashing in his teary eyes as he recognized his lover. He forced himself to sit up a bit, collecting himself. "What do you want me to do?" He was so confused, not able to gather a clear thought right at the moment. Even his voice showed how shaken he was, as he was unable to keep it over a whisper.
Knowing that the other man was only acting on instinct, Kaoru took on a commanding tone, addressing his lover's learned habits as a slave. "You need to get up on your feet." He took Die's hand, pulling him up to stand. Suddenly, he remembered that his brother probably would have a weapon there, his sword most likely. Quickly, he went to the next room, searching for it and finally found what he had been looking for. He took a coat and wrapped it around his lover's naked form.
"Die, I want you to stay behind me. If anything happens to me, you run to the stables, get a horse and get as far away as you can. Do you understand?" He looked him deep in the eye, determination clearly written all over his face. Although they didn't have time, he still leaned in and gave the younger man a short, gentle kiss.
The kiss broke some kind of barrier in the redheaded slave, and he quickly swung his arms around his lover, hugging him as tight as he was able to for a short moment. "I understand." He nodded at the words, determined to do everything he could. He knew how much Kaoru risked by coming here, and it alone caused the emotions inside of him to raise a lump in his throat. "Thank you."
"It's been all my fault." As Kaoru spoke those words, he knocked on the door for the two guards to let him out. There had only been one sword and all Die held in his hand as a weapon was a small knife. Anyways, Kaoru was capable to take on two men and as soon as the door opened, he used the moment of surprise, cutting the first guard's throat before swinging around to attack the second one, intending to ram his knee into his stomach before stabbing him to death.
They were lucky, and the guards were taken by surprise, not able to even draw their swords before they were already lying dead on the floor. Kaoru grabbed Die's hand in his, dragging him forward along the corridor. The redhead's heart was beating nervously in his chest as he clung to the other man's hand and tried to follow him as fast and silently as possible. It was hard for him to even walk though, but he forced the pain to the background, making his abused body do as he wanted.
While they were rushing along the empty corridors, Kaoru's mind was racing. Where should they run? Once they were out in the yard, they should have a plan ready. As Die wouldn't be able to hang on much longer, they would need a horse. So the stables would be the first way to go.
In his mind, Kaoru tried to remember the routes the guards were walking on their round and at first, the two refugees managed to dodge them, almost easily reaching the stables in the dark of the night. Their luck didn't last long enough though. Just when they reached the stables, Kaoru trying to get them two horses, a few guards spotted them and yelled an alarm.
Instantly the yard was filling with people, soldiers drawing their weapons and running towards them. Frightened, Die took a few running steps towards his lover, but suddenly stopped on his tracks, releasing a small surprised outcry. The archers had raised their bows, one long arrow now digging deep into the redhead's back.
"Die!!!" Kaoru flung around, released the reins of the horses and stumbled towards his lover, catching him in his fall. One look into the younger man's face told him that it was too late, that there was nothing he could do for him anymore. "Daisuke... Don't die. Please stay with me. We will make it," he babbled helplessly, his tear-blurred eyes blind towards the nearing guards.
The younger man leaned heavily against his lover, fighting for his life although the battle was already lost. He managed to raise his hand enough to touch Kaoru's cheek softly, whispering a choked 'love you' along with one of his last breaths.
"I love you too." Gently, Kaoru kissed the other man's lips one last time, tears dripping on his face. Carefully, he rested his lover's dead body on the cold ground and stood up, feeling as if he was caught in a bad dream. The first guard was already there, but Kaoru had killed him before the man even had a chance to attack. It was suicide, and he knew it, but he just ran towards the attackers, determined to take as many with him as possible.
It was one man against more than hundred, a battle as desperate as possible. Kaoru didn't go down instantly and instead painted the ground red with blood before he suddenly faced his own brother. There was a malicious grin on Tanaka's lips as he saw Kaoru freeze for a split second, and instantly he slammed the sword he was holding through his older brother's chest.
Kaoru's mouth opened in a silent scream, disbelief mirrored in his wide eyes when he broke down and fell on his knees, dropping his own sword. The wound was lethal and yet didn't kill him instantly, the two men staring at each other full of hatred. With another grin, Tanaka twisted the weapon, eliciting a bloodcurdling scream of pain from Kaoru before he finally fell to the side and closed his eyes forever.

I must say though. That even when I do prefer realistic endings sometimes... this wasn't up to the quality of writing you guys demonstrated through out the series. It lacked a lot of things and everything just moved so fast. It was over before I could realize it and it has nothing to do with the length of the text.
I hope that made sense.
PS: Took me a while to read this huh? xD

haha, I think I'm the only one who actually likes this ending more than the second one XD Well but I'm just weird like that.
