Chapter 3
The next time Die woke up, the vampire was fast asleep though and he thought it must be somewhere in the middle of the day then. For a moment, he staid still and looked at the elegant features, trying to imagine how the man had been once he had been still alive so long ago. But finally, he made himself land back from his thoughts, carefully getting up from the bed and heading to the deck.
Judging by the sun it was afternoon already, and the day was bright, not even a cloud on the sky. He walked around for some time, enjoying the sunlight and the breeze, not noticing that the sailors were again staring at him more or less hungrily.
The men knew that they would be on open sea for some time and that thought alone caused them to become less controlled, to forget any manners they might've ever had. The redhead with his fine, smooth white skin, the huge deep brown eyes and slender body would be a good company, his lush lips probably able to provide perfect pleasure otherwise.
Die was standing at the stern of the ship, watching the sun mirrored in the black sea underneath. He didn't notice the two huge sailors who approached him, until one hand was placed on his shoulder. "Without your master?" The man was grinning, bearing rotten teeth.
Die flinched and turned around reflexively to look at the two men. "He's resting in the cabin." He shrugged at the question, seemingly casual. But in reality he was keeping an eye on both the sailors, ready to react if one of them tried anything.
"I bet he's exhausted." The smaller of the two, a dark-skinned guy with broad shoulders and a black full beard, grunted and the other nodded. "Yes, probably this boy is quite tiring."
Snickering, he grabbed a strand of the redhead's hair and buried his nose in there, sniffing it. "He smells delicious like a girl. I bet he has other qualities as well."
"And that you'll never find out." The redhead looked disgusted, and tugged his hair free from the other's grasp, already taking a step away from them.
"Don't run, lad. We'd be good to you, feed you and take care of you." The taller one said smirking. "You'd have your fun as well," the other added and they both were closing the distance between them. "C'mon, give us the chance to see your qualities, little princess."
Quickly Die cast a glance around, trying to see which way he could run to have a decent chance. He didn't even think about staying and fighting, knowing that two guys who were bigger than him would easily beat him. Besides they were sailors, used to hard work. Not replying anything he took his chances, slipping away from beside the reeling, heading towards the cabin.
When he closed the door behind him noisily, the vampire sat up, staring at him as if he had never been asleep. He saw the small droplets of sweat on the redhead's upper lip, saw his haunted expression. "What happened?" The question was calm and steady, not giving away if Kaoru was worried or just curious.
Die forced himself to calm down even slightly, although it was hard since his heart was racing. "A couple of sailors wanted to have a piece of me." He shrugged, pretending he wasn't as terrified as he actually was.
"Who could damn them for that?" The vampire grinned smugly. "After all, you're the only one around who doesn't have chest hair." When the other glared at him fiercely, Kaoru burst out laughing. "I told you to be careful at day. Now come and let's sleep a bit still. Here, nobody will dare to harm you."
"Does that mean I won't be going outside at day anymore?" The redhead arched an eyebrow, frowning slightly at the other's reaction. He didn't know what exactly he'd expected, but he definitely didn't like being laughed at.
"You can go out whenever you want." Kaoru shrugged, the smug smile back. "But I can't guarantee for your safety then. Tonight, you'll tell me which sailors those were and I will have a talk with them." He stressed the verb exaggeratedly, changing his voice to almost only a purr.
Die couldn't help that a small grin formed on his lips and took a few steps forward to sit on the edge of the bed. "They don't know what you are, do they?"
The vampire blinked surprised, frowning. "No, and I prefer to keep it that way."
"They think you sleep all day because you're too busy by night." The redhead grinned, noticing that this was actually quite handy. The sailors would be satisfied with their own explanation and not even think what could be the real reason for their passenger avoiding days.
"Oh." Kaoru grinned as well and leaned his back against the bed-head, folding his arms across his chest. "Too bad that they are wrong." He too thought it would be better to leave it at that. If the sailors believed Die was his lover, he could easily make clear that they better should keep their hands off of him.
"Too bad?" Die shook his head slightly, looking a bit suspicious. He knew Kaoru probably lusted after his blood already, being forced to be so close to him without being allowed to feed on him. But he had never really thought that there might be anything else to it as well.
"Well," the vampire pursed his lips, his eyes piercing the redhead, "thanks to you, I haven't had the time to enjoy somebody's company lately." A smirk broke free again, his tone teasing. "And you never even thanked me for releasing your pressure."
The words caused Die to blush fiercely, and avert his gaze instantly. "Believe me, I'd beat you up if I'd think I'd have even a slight chance."
"You humans are funny." Kaoru chuckled, shaking his head. "On the one hand, you try to live as fast as possible without having regrets and on the other hand you're embarrassed because you felt pleasure, being touched by a man."
Purposefully, he had avoided to address himself as 'vampire', because he was sure that the main thing that bothered Die was that he had reacted to him as a man, had reacted although he was his capturer and enemy. "But don't worry. You're not that irresistible." With having said that, the purple-haired lay down again and turned his back on the other, a wide grin on his lips.
Die was at the loss of words for a while, just staring at the Kaoru's back with wide eyes. The thought of the moment back in that cheap tavern still made his face burn red, but he wasn't sure anymore what in it bothered him the most. He still felt somewhat humiliated, having reacted like that against his own will, but there were also more pleasant feelings attached to the memory and it made him nervous.
But he decided to pretend it didn't bother him anymore. "Not that irresistible?" He shook his head a bit chuckling at the words. "You just have no taste."
Without the other seeing it, the smile on Kaoru's lips widened. "No, I just have more self-control than a simpleton like you." He spoke slowly. For some reason, he even enjoyed this talk, although it tested just that self-control he had mentioned.
Of course he could take the redhead, could force him to do whatever he wanted, but that wouldn't give him a kick. From the first moment he had laid eyes on the young man, he had known that there was something special about him, indeed something irresistible. And slowly he began to doubt that it had something to do with him being the chosen one from the prophecy.
"Or then you just are unable to do anything." Die rolled his eyes, turning his back at the other and closing his eyes, intending on trying to get some sleep. He had just spoken without thinking it through, and wanted to hit himself as soon as the words left his lips. What in hell made him say that?
Before he noticed what had happened, his back was pinned down against the mattress, the vampire lying on top of him. There was still this supernatural smile on Kaoru's face when he took the redhead's hand and pressed it against his crotch. Indeed, there was a growing bulge to be felt. "Believe me. I'm fully functioning." As quick as it had happened, it was over and the other lay on his side again, his back facing Die as if he had never even stirred.
For a moment Die just staid unmoving, staring at the ceiling and trying to process what just had happened. The basic feeling was simply confusion, because he didn't know what to think about it. Strangely he was feeling even attracted to the vampire, but just blamed it on the other's mystic appearance.
Kaoru meanwhile closed his eyes and tried to control himself. He still felt the warmth of the touch in his crotch and couldn't deny that it felt good. However, eventually he managed to fall asleep again. It wasn't long till sundown and he needed a bit of rest still.
The young man wasn't able to sleep though, just lying completely still and trying to sort out his thoughts. He had never been attracted to a man before, and despite the fact that the other was a vampire, that's what he considered him primarily; a man. But instead of freaking him out like it should in his opinion, the revelation made Die only curious. What was it in the other exactly that held such a big appeal to him?
When Kaoru awoke, he was well rested and offered his bed-mate a huge smile before he stood up. After pouring some water into the washing-bowl, he stripped off his shirt and began to scrub himself. "You know, you could at least wash your face and hands more often." His tone was teasing and the statement accompanied by a few chuckles. "Or is that your clever plan to keep the sailors away?"
"Shut up." Die rolled his eyes at him, even shaking his head a bit. Despite the fact that he simply forgot to wash himself at times, there was something else to it. It made him nervous that the other was always there and watched him. But that he would never confess freewillingly.
As if Kaoru had read his thoughts, he dried himself and got dressed. "I will now talk to the captain and give a little speech to the sailors." Grinning dirtily, he added. "And tell them you're mine." With having said that, he left the room, quiet like the wind.
"Tell them you're mine..." The redhead repeated, shaking his head as the other was gone. With a small sigh he got rid of his shirt though, thinking he could as well use the moment to get cleaned up.
Indeed Kaoru talked to the captain and explained him that he was less than pleased about the fact that some men of his crew hit on his lover, yes, he used that word, while he was sleeping. He also made clear that it would have consequences if something like that would ever happen again. Not sure if the speech had any effect on the man and even more uncertain if the captain would talk to his crew, he went outside, standing on the rail to enjoy the cool breeze and the soft rain that fell from the sky, mixed with a bit of snow.
After a moment a voice sounded from behind his back. "It's beginning to be colder." The redhead stopped a few steps away from the vampire, hugging himself with his arms and staring into the distance.
"You washed yourself." Remarked the other on his side, the smell of soap mixing with Die's natural scent clearly noticeable. Slowly, Kaoru turned around and smiled at him.
Die shrugged, but answered the smile. "You told me to."
"Since when are you doing as I say?" The vampire stepped closer, attracted by the redhead's whole appearance. "Does that mean you're becoming weak?"
"No, that means I can admit when you sometimes happen to be right." The young man grinned, tilting his head and just looking at him, not moving from his place.
Content with that answer, Kaoru nodded. "I would've been disappointed if you said otherwise." He nodded towards the captain's cabin and grinned. "I gave him a speech, but I don't know if it had any effect." Smirking, he stepped even closer until he stood right in front of the redhead, their bodies almost touching. Although Die was a couple of inches taller than the vampire, the other still appeared gigantic. "So better stay close to me."
"I guess I have no choice." Being so close to Kaoru made Die somehow nervous, but he still didn't move and only looked straight at him. He didn't know what kind of nervousness it was though, since it wasn't fear as far as he knew.
"Oh, you have." The purple-haired nodded. "You're a free man. At least here on this ship." He had to admit that this trip would have been far more boring without the young man, without the stubbornness and strength with which Die challenged him every day.
"A free man to get myself into troubles?" The redhead arched an eyebrow at the vampire, even chuckling a bit. "You know I'd have no chance against those sailors. The bastards attack in groups."
Grinning, Kaoru leaned forward, bringing his lips closely to the young man's ear. "But only one can fuck you at a time." Suddenly, the closeness seemed too much to bear for him and he turned around swiftly, facing the open water. "You don't need to fight all of them at once. Just kill the leader, then the others will let go." He knew what he was talking about, had fought several wars like that.
Die had closed his eyes as the other had leaned closer, but now opened them again, shrugging. "And how do you suppose I should kill the leader? They're twice my weight and a lot stronger at least from what I can tell."
"You don't need to be stronger. Only quicker and more clever." The vampire chuckled, peeking over his shoulder at the redhead. "And after what I know, you're an intelligent boy."
The young man grinned at the words, not able to deny that receiving a compliment felt nice. "I might survive when it comes down to it. But I don't like taking stupid risks."
"Only one advice." Suddenly, the vampire was close again, stood right in front of him. "When it comes down to it once, be charming. Tell the leader you'll do anything he wants, but he should get rid of the others, because you want him alone." The eyes narrowed to small slits. "And then, you kill him without him realizing what happens." Kaoru stepped behind the redhead, putting one cold hand on his chin. "Don't think about it and break his neck when he thinks he's safe."
A shiver ran through the redhead, but he didn't know whether it was because of the words, the cold touch or the other's proximity. Whichever it was, he forced himself to seem calm, and swallowed before talking to make his voice steady. "What if I don't know who the leader is?"
"You will know. Watch them closely. It's not always the one who talks the most or the strongest. It's the most dominant. The one who doesn't have to say anything and still everybody makes way when he walks through the crowd." The vampire remained standing behind the young man, secretly closing his eyes and concentrating on the other's presence.
"I can teach you how to defend yourself. Teach you how to use a weapon, how to wield a sword or fence with an epee." Kaoru knew it wouldn't be clever to commit Die in the art of war, but it would kill both of them some time. Besides, he would still never be able to kill a vampire. The true reason was though that the vampire already thought about giving the other a chance to fight for his life, maybe even letting him go. Still, he had to be careful because his master would sense if he did something against his will. Thus, both of them should be prepared for every possibility.
Die nodded firmly, appreciating the offer. Not only because it would help him if the sailors tried to attack him once, but because he was interested in it in general. And it would give him something to do during the long days. He already loved studying the books, but it was beginning to be a bit tiring to always just sit inside his nose buried into the book. Now he would get to do something outside in the fresh air.
"And what do you want in return?" He turned his head a bit to look at the other, not believing he'd promise to train him for nothing.
As trivial as it was, but Kaoru indeed hadn't thought about asking for something in return. Just teaching the other man would kill boredom, would even give him joy enough. But now that Die asked so openly, a shiver ran down his spine. Refraining himself from saying what was lying on his tongue, the vampire shook his head.
"Nothing. But I warn you. If we begin to train, I demand your full attention, want you to give a hundred percent without complaining."
"I can do that." Die nodded instantly, believing he would be able to do that. If he wanted something, he was able to work hard to get it. But he still didn't believe that Kaoru would do something like this out of pure good will.
They began with the first lesson that very night. Kaoru taught Die how to dodge hits without losing the ability to attack on his side, using the movement. He made him repeat every single attack so often until the motion sequence had burned-in in his memory, until he knew what to do by heart. With delight, Kaoru saw how eager his student was, how far he pushed himself and his body. He might've been thin, but he was wiry.
They both enjoyed the lessons, for a bit different reasons though. Kaoru took delight in what a hard working and promising student he had, and Die enjoyed learning new things. He was beginning to be stronger too, and his self confidence strengthened when it came to dealing with the sailors, as he occasionally dared to come to the deck alone again.
They learned to know more about each other too by the way, without even noticing it really. Previously they had always slept backs against each other, trying to keep a good distance between them, but now it wasn't that important anymore, as they were more relaxed in each other's company.
Kaoru was proud of the human, how hard he was working and how eagerly he accepted his advices, always trying to make everything right. He hadn't been wrong in assuming that Die was clever indeed and even when he told him complicated things about psychological warfare, about tricks how to fool people and make them underestimate your own strength, he instantly understood what he meant.
The more time they spent like this, close to each other when Kaoru showed Die a certain hold or kick, the more attached the vampire felt to the human being and the harder it became for him to keep his distance during the days when they were sleeping in the small bed, exhausted from a long night of exercising.
Many times Die turned closer to the other in his sleep, only subconsciously though, and he would've been extremely embarrassed if he had known it. But almost every time the vampire got up before he did, if one didn't count the small trips the redhead made to the deck during the day. The sailors hadn't tried anything in a long time, but they still stared at Die, casting long and needy glances at him.
One night, the ship had docked at a small harbor again and Kaoru had taken Die to town with him, he went to the post office, receiving a message from his master. He reminded that they ran out of time and that Kaoru was supposed to make sure there were no further delays. Actually it said as long as the redhead was still breathing, it would be enough. Obviously the master had gotten a hint from somebody that Kaoru treated his prisoner better than he should have, that he even allowed him to move freely in town.
When they were back in their small cabin, the vampire sat down on the chair, lost in deep thoughts. Finally, he raised his gaze at the young man, but remained silent.
For a moment Die looked back, completely puzzled and not knowing what the hell was going on in the other's head. "What?" Finally he wasn't able to take it anymore, and had to break the silence with the short question.
The vampire startled and took a deep breath. It was still a habit, only a sigh to show his inner turmoil, for his lungs didn't demand oxygen. "You can't trust anybody, Die. I treat you too nice and somebody has spilled the beans over it." He saw no sense in lying, had developed some kind of trust towards the young man that went along with training the arts of war together, that went along with spending every single minute of a day together.
"You saying you have to stop being too nice then?" Die couldn't help but to feel uneasy, scared that the studying and the training would stop. That would leave him just thinking of his upcoming fate again, and make his remaining time so much more miserable.
The fear that resonated in the question elicited a soft smile on Kaoru's lips and he shook his head. "No. I won't change anything. I'm not treating you like I do because somebody forced or allowed it. I'm treating you as you deserve."
The redhead smiled at the words, relieved that things would at least remain as they were now. "Thanks."
The answer was a simple nod. Kaoru would've never admitted it openly, but deep inside his mind, he was still thinking about a way out, about a way not to deliver the other to his fate. But he knew that there wasn't. From a human's point of view, he might've been strong, but his master was ancient, a vampire of indescribable powers, even for him.
As Die didn't know what to say, or how to react to the situation further, he just averted his gaze to the ground. He sensed that he was causing troubles for the other somehow, and it made him feel a bit bad in a way.
That night, Kaoru went to bed long before dawn. He wanted to use the time when he slept to think about his situation, to find back to his natural vampire self. He wasn't supposed to have reproaches to deliver a human being to his master and thus, death. He shouldn't be so attracted to a filthy and incomplete being such as the redhead.
So why on earth didn't he use him for his own pleasure as long as he could and then just go and find the next one? Yes, why didn't he? No matter how long he pondered, from which side he looked at it, Kaoru couldn't come up with a decent explanation for his behavior.
For some time they were both more or less lost in their thoughts, just remaining silent and going through the things in their mind over and over again. Die had noticed how he seemed to subconsciously always trying to get as close to the vampire as possible without it seeming overly weird. And he didn't know why he yearned for the proximity so much. Or he did, but he didn't want to admit it to himself.
Finally, Kaoru found himself unable to sleep properly with the redhead so close to him. He stayed still, not moving at all and only focused on fighting the urge to slide closer to the other's warmth. One night, he suddenly turned around, his bright eyes staring at the young man. "You're too close." He remarked coldly. "I can't guarantee that I don't just slash your throat in my sleep on instinct."
Of course that was a lie. He had learned to control his bloodthirst towards the other very well, although it was still lingering deep inside his soul as a tiny spark. No, he was lusting after the redhead's body, but he had promised not to do anything and for some reason thought he should stick to it, should respect a dying man's wish.
"You never did it before, why should you do it now?" Die arched an eyebrow, not moving an inch. For some reason he was feeling stubborn, and didn't want to move. "Besides why should I care? I'm going to die sooner or later anyways." There was a bit of bitterness laced in his voice, as lately he'd been thinking of his future more often than before.
They needed distance. At least that was what Kaoru thought and he moved so quick again that the other had no chance to see it with his eyes. Pinning him down on the mattress, the vampire bore his fangs and brought them dangerously close to Die's neck. "You sure you don't care? If you die right now, you will never know what would've happened to you."
Forcefully the redhead bit the insides of his cheeks, staring up at the other and stubbornly not giving in. "Go on." He managed to make his voice sound steady somehow, although his heart was racing and his instincts told him to escape. "If that's what you want the most, then do it."
The vampire closed his eyes, fighting the urge to do just that. He wasn't even sure if that was what he wanted the most, to taste the other's warm blood, but it was a natural instinct which was hard to fight. Slowly, he lowered his head, touched the soft skin with his lips and sank his teeth in the other's neck.
But he had changed back. There were no sharp canines breaking the skin, only human teeth tantalizing it. Still, a shudder ran through Kaoru's body as he was so close to the redhead's warmth, felt him pressed against his own body, could smell the hot blood flow through his veins, pumped by his racing heart. "I told you I got more self-control than a simple human being."
"Too bad." Die closed his eyes, letting the air escape his lungs although he hadn't even noticed he'd been holding his breath. He didn't know if he was more disappointed or thankful though, he simply didn't know anything anymore. On the other hand he shouldn't mind dying, as it would at least allow him to escape this all. But he still clung to the life, to the hope that everything might turn out better, unable to let go.
"You're not disappointed." Kaoru withdrew a bit, yet remained lying half on top of the other man. "You're grateful. Life is too precious for you and you enjoy it way too much." He stated certainly. His whole body was tense, like a cat's when it was on the hunt and had spotted a mouse. Only that he was tense because of the closeness to the human, because of what it did to his mind and body.
"You call this life?" Die shook his head frantically. "I'm trapped in a goddamned boat, with no possibility to ever get out of it to live a normal life." He didn't know how to explain the things which were coursing through his mind, so he might've sounded a bit incoherent but he didn't care. "Humans aren't meant to be alone like this!" Although there was truth in his words too, it wasn't all. He had never really been a part of the society, so he had been alone in a certain sense of the word before he had ever met the vampire. But only now, it had begun to bother him somehow.
"But you aren't an average human." Kaoru contradicted, suddenly feeling the need to soothe the young man, to take away a bit of his fear and to give him back hope. Because if Die lost all hope, he would change, wouldn't be the strong willed person anymore which the vampire had learned to admire, whose company he enjoyed more than anybody's in centuries.
"You are the chosen one. You are mentioned in an ancient prophecy and it's up to you how the story will end." He meant it. Only the journey was written, not the destination and Kaoru was old enough to know that they weren't only figures in a game of chess. Everybody, even the lowest, stupidest human being had a chance to change his fate. Only that he saw no chance for himself to act differently than he did at that moment.
Die didn't say anything, only stared at the other intensely, trying to read something in his eyes. He had been at the verge of giving up, but somehow his determination got a needed push to get going again. To his own surprise, even he didn't want to go back to the life he had lived before. But he didn't want to die either.
Knowing that he had given away too much, that he had revealed a part of his soul Die shouldn't ever see, Kaoru retreated quickly and turned his back on him. He still could feel the other's gaze, felt it corporally and it made him uneasy for the first time since they had met, frightened him even because he saw that Die understood that he had just displayed weakness. A weakness he wasn't supposed to have.
The redhead turned on his side, curling up into a ball and trying to calm himself down. It was all too hard on him, and he was too confused to know what he was supposed to do or feel.
***
The ship didn't stop in a harbor for the next three days and both, vampire and human tried to get back to what they had done so far; to exercise, and to tease each other with the weaknesses of their existence from time to time. It became colder and snow fell down more often now, making it harder for Die to stay outside for long. Part of the crew had been exchanged in the last harbor and the new men weren't any better than the old, giving the redhead still lusty glances and naughty comments whenever he stepped on deck during day.
Slowly, rumors were spreading why his master was never seen during daylight and seemed to hide from it, only coming out after the sun had sunk behind the horizon. However, although Kaoru had been determined to keep his distance from Die, his body did betray him, since he began to turn in his sleep, subconsciously leaning closer to the other's warm body.
Usually, when he woke up before Die, the vampire quickly slid further, but couldn't deny himself from touching the human, from feeling the life flow through his veins which ran shortly underneath his skin. Again, Kaoru thought about breaking his promise, thought about making at least the other's body his if he wasn't allowed to drink his blood and could never own his soul because Die was too strong in mind.
Die grew more close to the vampire each day, the other being practically everything he had. The sailors didn't bother him when they were together, and although he now trusted that he would be able to fight them off himself too, he felt more at ease when he wasn't alone.
Sometimes the sailors were asking him questions about Kaoru when he was alone on deck at the sunny time of the day. He had developed a habit to answer them that 'his master' was too tired to come out since he had had a rough night. If he added a wink to the explanation, all the sailors bought it completely, thinking that the young man was there only to make the long journey more pleasant for noble man.
Die didn't mind that everyone assumed they were screwing each other every night, but it made him think. Think of how it would be if it was true instead of just something they made others believe. But he shrugged the thought off soon, refusing to acknowledge it.
The long time without human blood was shown in Kaoru's mood after a couple of days. He grew almost bitchy, making Die work harder on his exercises than necessary, taking delight in showing off his superiority every once in a while. Living off rats and mice just wasn't something he could deal with very well, the shabby blood making him restless. It was almost as if he were human, only that his reactions were unpredictable. One time, he would openly hit on the redhead, would drop teasing allusions, even touch him wanting. And one other time, he would growl if Die only lay too close to him, disturbed by his mere presence.
Soon the redhead learned to live with it though, being on guard all the time and reacting in the way he thought would be the best. If the vampire was annoyed he tried to stay out of his way, and if he seemed to be in a better mood they had these weird teasing conversations. As the other was suffering at the loss of human blood to drink, Die found himself having other kind of problems. He was still human, had certain needs and he hadn't had any possibilities to share intimate moments with another person for what felt like ages.
That fact didn't pass by Kaoru unnoticed and he took a certain delight in teasing the young man with it; if not openly dropping suggestive remarks. But when he was in a good mood, he began to talk about his sexual adventures, told the other about things that happened more than two centuries ago. Of course his explanations were detailed as he wanted to see how Die would react to them.
The redhead tried to keep cool and not to show to the other how it affected him. It disturbed him quite a lot that he had started to look at the vampire for too long sometimes, noticing how attractive his features were, along with this certain way he just was.
What Die didn't know was that, despite the need for blood, Kaoru had always been the kind of vampire who had enjoyed sex more than others of his kind and that he did miss that too. It was slightly different from the need the young man felt though, but it was still there. If he had noticed the way the other looked at him, he would've probably waited patiently, hoping Die would release him from the promise not to touch him. But he didn't and he still was determined to keep that promise.
One day, the ship had docked in a harbor again, the vampire went to town alone and when he returned, he was accompanied by a young boy with smooth, porcelain skin, full red lips and huge green eyes. The purple-haired man nodded at his roommate, displaying a smug smile. "Out."
For a moment Die stared, eyes wide and mouth slightly open, just looking from the boy to the vampire and back. He didn't know why, but somehow he felt hurt, angry on top of all, and he got even angrier since he didn't know where the anger came from. Wordlessly he made his way out of the cabin and to the deck, fuming inside and kicking random things on his way to relieve some of the pressure.
The vampire didn't care for his anger and once the door was closed, turned to smile at the shy boy, beckoning him to come closer.
When Die turned around a corner, one of the crew men, obviously drunken, blocked his way. It was a tall, broad man with rough skin and pale blue eyes. He grabbed the redhead's arm and pulled him close against his chest. "Hey lad. I've seen your master with that boy. Don't worry, I can do you better than he."
"Shut up!" Die was still too angry to think clearly, and only yanked his arm free, intending on getting past the sailor and somewhere where he would be alone. Who the hell did Kaoru think he was, coming back like that with that kid and throwing him out of the room!?
But when he turned around, a large hand was pressed on his mouth and he was thrown over a pile of boxes. Suddenly, there were two more sailors who were cheering for the first one. As it seemed, they had only been waiting for the right moment to get into Die's pants and seeing that his master had brought home somebody else gave them hope he would be too distracted to notice anything before they were done.
The man's stinking, alcohol-laced, breath struck Die's cheek when he bent forward, tugging the redhead's pants down. "You can judge later who of us is better than your master."
Only now Die's brains started to function and he realized what was going on. In the panic of the moment everything the vampire had taught him just escaped his mind and he tried to kick and hit frantically, just hoping the man would let go of him. He tried to scream, although he knew there was no one to help him anyways, but the sailor's hand on his mouth muffled all sounds effectively.
The other two men held him down while the sailor behind him opened his own pants. "C'mon, don't be a spoil-sport. We know you like it every day." He grunted and gave Die a jab in the ribs that squeezed all the air out of his lungs at once.
Suddenly, he turned his head around, alarmed by a noise like the rustling of clothes in the wind. In the next second, the man fell limply to the floor, with a broken neck. The vampire stepped out of the shadows, infuriated, his eyes gleaming dangerously as he bared his fangs openly.
Shocked to death, the other two sailors let go of their victim, taking a step backwards, lifting their arms pleadingly. The redhead fell on his knees, still trying to gasp for breath because of the hit he had received. He didn't even notice what had happened before the two sailors practically kneeled on the desk, begging for mercy, which made him turn his head and look at what had caused this.
Kaoru stepped next to Die and, without taking his eyes off the two other men, grabbed the collar of his shirt, dragging him up on his feet. "What shall I do to them?" he asked lowly, his lips not even moving. His chest was heaving, but not due to heavy respiration but more due to the excitement of an anticipated kill. Although he had fed that night already and thus wasn't truly in the need for blood.
Die looked at him eyes wide, not knowing what to say. On one hand he would've wanted to see the two men dead, simply angry at them for what they had tried. But on the other hand he knew it would be better to let them live, since then they'd pass the word and the other sailors wouldn't ever dare to touch him during the rest of the trip. "Let 'em go." He shook his head finally, suppressing his own want to kill.
A bit disappointed, the vampire kept on staring at the two, but nodded finally. "Go. One word about me to others and you're history." Within the blink of an eye, the two rushed away, running for their lives. Instantly, Kaoru changed back, his features calm and human again, his eyes only looking soft at the young man.
"I am sorry." He said quietly, knowing that the attack had been his fault. If he hadn't kicked Die out of their room, something like that would've never happened. Easily, he lifted the dead sailor off the ground and threw his dead body into the water, not caring if somebody found him or not.
"Shouldn't you be having fun with that kid you brought?" Die hadn't intended to sound so harsh, but somehow he still was angry at the other for what he had done, and even more angry at himself for reacting this forcefully.
"I already did." Kaoru answered coldly.
It was a lie. Actually, once he had been alone with the boy, had had his warm body close, he realized that it wasn't what he wanted, who he wanted. The scent was different and if one broke it down, it was just a filthy simple human, no matter how beautiful he was. Never before had this fact disturbed him, but he hadn't known a human like the redhead before either. Convincing himself that he maybe just wasn't in the mood, he had paid the boy generously and had sent that frightened thing home.
"I'm going back in." Somehow hearing that disturbed the young man even more, and he had rather not heard it at all. After straightening his clothes he determinedly marched towards their cabin.
Wordlessly, the vampire followed shortly after, biting his bottom lip contemplatively. If the other reacted like that, did it mean that he was jealous? Or did he only despise him for buying young boys for his own pleasure? Disturbed, that there was nothing in the redhead's behavior which gave away why he was so cold all of a sudden, Kaoru decided to find out.
Once the door had closed behind them, he grabbed the other's wrist and pulled him around, forcing him to face him. "How about thanking me for saving your virginity?"
"Shall I thank you for getting me into troubles at the same time as well?" Die stared at Kaoru defiantly, the anger inside still not fading. "And thank you for turning my whole life upside down with forcing me to come with you?" He tried to yank his wrist free but it was in vain, the vampire being too strong for him. He knew that he was acting like he was being jealous, but he was too frustrated to care right at that moment.
Kaoru's voice was only an intense hissing. "If I hadn't come to get you, another of my kind would have. How about that? Would you have preferred one of those soul-less vampires, one that takes delight in teasing his victim, in torturing him in all the possible ways? Would you have liked that?" Effortlessly, he pulled Die closer, staring right in his eyes. "Would you have preferred if I had fucked you instead of that boy?"
Die flinched noticeably, shaking his head at the question although he knew the right answer would've been yes. He would've never freewillingly admitted it out loud, but he had developed some sort of obsession towards the vampire, and couldn't deny it himself anymore.
There was a certain tension between them and Kaoru wasn't sure if his senses betrayed him or told him the truth. But he was certain that there was something in Die's eyes, something hidden behind this mask of anger and disgust; something like affection. "See," he purred lowly, not releasing the other from his grip, "that's why I went out and took the boy. Because I wanted to keep my promise, but couldn't guarantee it if I hadn't."
Grinning, the vampire stepped forward until their chests were touching. "Too bad only that I didn't fuck him because I smelled your fear suddenly and thought I have to make sure my treasure doesn't get a scratch." He bent the truth a bit, because he could've never admitted what he had finally realized himself.
"But you told me..." The words escaped the redhead before he could stop himself, but he bit his lip as soon as he heard himself talk.
"I only told you I had fun with him, nothing more." Smirking, Kaoru finally released Die from his grip, but remained standing right in front of him. "I took a sip of his blood. That's all."
Instinctively Die rubbed his wrist although it wasn't that badly hurt, but didn't move away from the other. "You bastard."
"Bastard?" The vampire laughed throatily. "You don't understand," he continued in an admonishing tone. "He offered it freewillingly."
"I didn't mean that. Drink him dry for all I care." The redhead finally took a step away, still not knowing how to channel the rest of the anger inside of him.
He received a shove that threw him on the bed, face down. "Now I understand..." Kaoru's spoke directly into his ear. "You call me bastard, because you thought I lied to you." Swiftly, he turned the helpless human around, his face so close that their noses were almost touching. "Because you were jealous." The vampire's cold hand travelled down Die's chest, finally stopping at his crotch. "Because you would've wanted to take his place."
The redhead struggled, trying to get away from underneath the other. It was a half-hearted attempt though, because he wasn't even sure if he wanted to get away. "Too bad that none of that matters now." He stared the vampire straight into the eye. "Because you already made your choice when you brought him here."
"I made my choice when I promised you not to touch you against your will." Kaoru's voice was so low, barely a whisper, and yet resonated strangely audible in the quiet room. Unable to resist Die's whole appearance, his defiance only turning him on more, he withdrew his hand shortly, only to open and tug down the trousers teasingly slow.
That resulted in another half-hearted attempt to struggle from the young man, but still his own mind betrayed him as his every movement spoke of want instead of disgust or fear. As the other's cold fingertips touched him, a shiver ran through his spine, causing gooseflesh on his skin.
"I can't hear you." The trousers were down and swiftly, Kaoru undid the shoes to get rid of them completely. Leaning forward, he ghosted his lips along the other man's neck, scraped his teeth over the taut skin while he ably undid the buttons of his shirt. "Don't you want to tell me to stop?" he asked teasingly once the redhead lay completely naked beneath him and his hand had found its way back to the other's arousal, barely touching him.
Die groaned, hardly audible, trying to arch up into the touch. His mind was racing as fast as his heart, as he tried to sort out his own feelings. But the truth was that he didn't want the other to stop, although that was what his rational mind told him. To answer the question, he only shook his head a bit, not trusting his voice completely.
It elicited a content smile from the vampire and he fumbled for the buttons of his own shirt with one hand, coevally pleasuring the redhead, his hand slowly growing warm under the touch of the hard, hot flesh in it. He could feel and smell the blood rush through the human's body, his heartbeat increasing steadily with every passing second. He couldn’t deny it, the human was something more attractive and arousing than anything he’d seen in a long time.
And with each passing moment the redhead's rational mind was being silenced more and more, soon completely forgotten. What did he have to lose anyways? He wasn't going to live for long anymore, so he could just throw himself into this without caring for the consequences.
Once Kaoru was rid of his clothes as well, he pressed himself against the warm body beneath him and closed his eyes for a moment. There was indeed something special in Die, something pristine and unbroken that caused a shiver down his spine. Easily, the vampire lifted the other's lower bodypart off the bed, made him spread his legs a bit further and finally invaded him. Knowing that it was Die's first time, he moved careful at first, but once he was fully buried inside him, instantly began to move.
A strangled cry escaped the redhead as he was being filled so intensely, but somehow even the pain felt good, made him yearn for more. He tried to move his hips against the other to meet the thrusts, guided by the heat inside of him, acting purely on instinct.
The movement elicited a surprised groan from Kaoru and his eyes fell shut as he picked up a quick rhythm. It was pure pleasure for him to feel the other's immense heat around him, to feel it devolve on his own body and finally to feel how he was silently asking for more. It had been long since the vampire had had a lover who didn't only lie there, waiting for him to take action but who on his side demanded his share of the pleasure as well. And never did he have one who was so strong-minded.
As the thrusts grew more forceful and deep, something inside Die was struck and he arched up violently, white flashing in front of his eyes as the bliss coursed through him. A surprised cry fell from his lips, and he instantly tried to move harder against the other, needing more of that.
Delighted not only by the pleasure that coursed through his own body, but by the reactions he elicited from Die with his doings, the vampire lifted him up a bit more. Angling his thrusts differently, he managed to drive deeper inside him, more forceful. At one point, he couldn't hold back the sounds that spoke of how much he enjoyed himself, in form of deep, throaty moans.
On their own Die's hands found their way to Kaoru's shoulders, simply in the need of something to hold on to. It felt strange, how the other's skin was so cold on some places, while his own body had heated him on others. It was an enticing mixture.
The more passion grew between them, the more grew Kaoru's yearning for the human's blood. It would be so easy, Die wouldn't probably even notice when he sank his teeth in his neck and fed on him. Only a few drops, not much, just a taste. Still, the vampire managed to fight the urge down, but it needed all his willpower and thus he had no control over his body otherwise. Quick and hard, he thrust inside the warm body, willed on by the noises Die made which grew more and more audible with each thrust.
At some point Die felt like exploding, the pleasure mixing with pain and creating something he couldn't deal with, something that he could only call divine. It only took a few more of those deep, harsh thrusts and the climax hit him forcefully. Screaming out loud the redhead arched up from the mattress, releasing himself while bliss blinded everything from his mind.
The vampire growled as the tightness around him increased and squeezed his eyes shut. A shiver shook his whole being, simply because the witnessed the other's climax so intensely as if it was his own as well, smelled how his own scent was mixing with the redhead's, with his sweat and fluids that were staining his stomach.
Everything added up until his body reached its limits as well, his orgasm going along with a deep, inhuman noise that originated somewhere deep in Kaoru's throat. Of course there was no seed dribbling inside the other, but there definitely was something. It was part of the supernatural creature, a bit of his own self, of his soul which he gave away.
The redhead had practically collapsed on the mattress, his chest heaving with the force of his laborious breaths. A part of him couldn't even believe what had just happened, and he was even slightly angry at himself for giving in so easily. But a far bigger part of him was just amazed of how intense the moment they had just shared had been. And how much he had enjoyed it.
Carefully, Kaoru pulled away and let go of him. Bliss still blurred his mind, muffled the sounds that were reaching his ears. This had been different from what he had experienced with humans before, better, so good that it even frightened him. His body had reacted in a way it had never before, had given away something it shouldn't.
He didn't show any of this insecurity though and only lay down next to the young man, gently pulling him into his arms, wanting to enjoy the blissful aftermath together with him.
Die allowed himself to be pulled against the vampire, even smiling a tiny bit. Tiredness was spreading into his limbs rapidly, because he was so pleasantly exhausted. Not even the burning pain in his lower back managed to bother him at that moment, and there wasn't even a single thought in his mind, only total blankness.
Kaoru was neither tired nor exhausted, but he enjoyed the way his companion was resting against him way too much to get up. For once, he didn't even care that the other's sticky body stained his own as well. Usually he would've gotten up and cleaned himself instantly, not wanting the human smell to mix with his own scent. But with the redhead, it was different and he had to admit that he actually liked how their scents were mixing into one.
Somewhere in his mind Die thought that he probably should say something, but he didn't have the needed energy to do anything about it. Even before he noticed he had drifted off to sleep, his body requiring the strength.
Once the warm body in his arms relaxed and Die's breathing had become regular, Kaoru covered him with the blanket and granted himself a short nap as well. While sleeping, he always managed to sort his thoughts best, to get his feelings straight.
It took a long while before the redhead even stirred, and it was hard for him to wake up even then. Forcing his eyes open, he took a look around himself like always, and couldn't help but to flinch a bit when he saw the vampire beside him and remembered the just experienced.
Kaoru had been awake for longer already and when the other stirred, opened his eyes. He looked straight at him, an amused glimmer hidden in the almost black depths. "And? Hate me even more now?" He asked teasingly, a small grin tugging the corners of his mouth.
"I should." The young man tilted his head, looking straight back at him. He didn't explain anything further though, not even knowing himself what to make of the mix of things in his head.
"That's okay." The vampire winked, the grin widening considerably. "No matter what you say, I know you enjoyed it." Suddenly, he stood up and went to the small washing table, pouring a bit water into the bowl to finally clean himself. He could practically feel the young man's confusion and that amused him even more.
Die frowned, not liking the way the other seemed to be so much in control of the situation while he was confused as hell. Biting his lower lip to suppress the pain the movement caused, he forced himself to sit up on the bed, but still didn't say anything, only casting a covert glance at the vampire. Did this change something between them, or was the other determined to go on like before? And, would this happen again?
