Comments:
[livejournal.com profile] fonulyn: This is made for the D/K Oktoberfest AU week! Originally, I had something completely different in mind and I even began working on it, but in the end I ran out of time x) I will finish that other ficcie too, just not for the fest. And this would kind of work for the Halloween-theme too, but since I don’t have an AU-fic I decided that I would use it now^^ Thank you for my dear [livejournal.com profile] seinen_no for proofreading this for me and being the inspiration and support she is ♥

And feel free to add our journal if you like the stories!
Plus, the archive.

Bound

The city lights never seemed to be as bright as in the dead of night, the neon signs lighting the empty streets and alleys like huge artificial torches, reaching their long fingers around the corners of the buildings. Skyscrapers stood proud against the darkening sky, not a single sign of the stars and the moon visible behind the thick veil of black storm clouds. Even the smothering rain didn’t have any effect on the lights that pierced through the darkness, reflected by the raindrops that only seemed to strengthen them.

Not a single human being in their right mind would be outside at a moment like that. It seemed that the ghosts of the past had awakened and were floating through the air, whispering in their warnings while gracing your spine with their icy fingers.

There’s death in the air tonight. All you have to do is reach out and grab it.

The rain was ceasing, but the clouds didn’t seem to move an inch. The thick fog almost looked like blood, filtrating the bright red of the neon signs in a way that gave it an eerie touch. One could imagine that the end of the world would look like this, the calm before the storm, just before hell would break loose. Windows were closed tight, doors locked and people were hiding in their houses, scared. Even the homeless sought shelter from the churches, from hospitals, from any public building that was open at a late hour like that.

Still, the streets weren’t empty. There was a long, lean figure standing in a dark alleyway, concealed by the shadows so well that it was impossible to spot him until you were only a few steps away. And then it would already be too late. His coat was so black that it seemed to suck all colour and light in, like death itself that didn’t let a single sign of life escape. In contrast to that stood his white, porcelain skin, flawless to the point of being scary. Dark ebony eyes seemed to have the same effect than the man’s coat, not a single reflection or emotion to be seen in them. This all was framed by dark red hair that was hanging on his shoulders like a stream of thick blood. A shocking drop of colour in the midst of his faded existence.

The man, Die, took a look over his shoulder. The cold wind blew some red strands of hair on his face and he brushed them off annoyedly before killing the remains of his cigarette on the concrete wall beside him. It wasn’t as if he would’ve been bothered by the ruthless wind, or the big raindrops that were falling down almost lazily, hovering in the air before finally slamming down on the wet ground. Those were only minor annoyances, remains of the human life he still remembered vaguely somewhere deep inside.

He was waiting. He had been waiting for hours now, ever since the sun had sunken down beneath the horizon and delivered the world to the arms of the night. He was just about to give up and leave, when suddenly he heard a rustling noise from around the corner. He didn’t even startle, his whole posture remaining as casual as before, and there was no way to see his surprise. Not even when the silence was cut by a voice resonating in the air, amusement clear in the tone of it.

“Smoking is bad for you.”

That made Die snort and he turned around, arching an eyebrow as he eyed the lean figure standing only a few feet away from him. “So? It’s not like it could kill me.” He retorted casually although what he really wanted to do was to yell at the other man for being so late, for making him wait here feeling like an idiot. He didn’t wait for anyone, he came and went by his own rules and didn’t give a shit about what others told him to do. So why had he patiently waited for this meeting even when it had been obvious it would run late?

The smaller man stepped closer, and even through the fog Die could make out his sharp features, the almost fragile frame that held overwhelming power despite that. Die could feel a small shiver go down his spine, another remain of the human life. He had already thought he had forgotten all about it, had given up on the desperate craving to cling on to something at least remotely human. Yet, ever since he had met the other man the first time, those memories and feelings had been resurfacing time and time again. He knew nothing of his companion, except for his name. Kaoru. He knew nothing of him, and yet he was drawn towards him time and time again.

It made no sense to Die, no matter how he tried to twist it in his mind. He was a creature of the night, completely in control of himself now that his master had been destroyed, he shouldn’t be drawn to anyone. There was no supernatural bond to keep him attached to another being. There shouldn’t be. Yet, there was. The craving to see Kaoru was almost as strong inside of him as the craving for blood, those two urges dominating his existence, every second of his waking hours. And although he didn’t know anything about Kaoru, he knew that the obsession was mutual. Why else would the other man always keep coming back to him, keep hunting him down when they had lost each other, keep coming close to him time and time again?

There was a bond between them. A bond neither of them could explain. A bond neither of them wanted to acknowledge. A bond neither of them ever spoke about.

The silence was cut again, interrupting Die’s racing thoughts, and he tilted his head ever so slightly to be able to look the other man in the eye, to watch his lips as he spoke, drink in every small gesture he made. “No,” Kaoru replied calmly, not minding that the silence had dragged on for long already after his companions words. There was a small smirk gracing his lips as he went on, the amusement evident in his voice once again. “But it makes you taste bad.”

Before Die even had the time to reply to that, he found himself pinned against the rough surface of the wall behind him, his wrists trapped and a hungry mouth closing over his. Sharp fangs pierced his bottom lip and he could almost sense the familiar taste of iron in his mouth, even though that was only in his imagination, somewhere deep in his subconsciousness. Die knew he could break free from the possessive grip if he wanted to, knew that he only would need to push the smaller man off him. Yet he didn’t. He didn’t make a single move to shove Kaoru off, didn’t even try to resist. Contrarily, he even willingly tilted his head and yielded to the kiss, responding to it with equal fervour.

It almost felt to the redhead that his heart started to beat again in his chest, melted the ice around itself and began pumping air through his empty veins. When he closed his eyes, he could see the way Kaoru had looked the first time he had seen him. He couldn’t forget that sight, it was branded on his retinas whether he wanted it or not. He had caught the smaller man feeding, his delicate features covered in blood that was dripping down his chin, a fierce glow in his eyes as he had spun around until they faced each other. It was a moment Die couldn’t forget. He had seen dozens of his kind feed on humans, and yet this one moment kept haunting him time and time again. Time had frozen then, and from that split second on, things had changed.

The kiss lasted an eternity and at the same time was over within the blink of an eye. Even when Kaoru pulled back he didn’t release the taller man from his grasp, didn’t even try to break the moment and the way their bodies were close, almost too close. There still was that small, eternal smirk dancing on his lips and for a split second, there was a sparkle in his eyes. It was barely there, and yet Die would’ve sworn that he saw it, knowing that it was mirrored in his own eyes at the same second.

They knew this would lead to their demise. There was no way such a bond between creatures like them would ever bring anything good. Others would notice it, would hunt them down and use it against them. In the end they would end up losing everything, tortured and broken. A fate worse than death.

Yet the temptation was too big. There was no way they could resist it.

Nor did they want to.

I can only repeat myself that I love, love, love this! The mood is dark, sexy and just perfect hunny. Although it's short, there's so much happening between the lines and it always makes me yearn for more like this.
I especially like that they are drawn to each other without even knowing why and although they both seem to know for sure that such a bond is dangerous in their situation, they simply can't let go of each other although they are both such independant personalites.

It's just perfect!

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't emphasize how glad I am that it gets things across even though it is so short. Since damn, I still can't write long things alone XD But I loved the idea and wanted to make something good out of it, so it makes me incredibly bouncy to hear you like it! :3

I love that too, the thought of having them bound to each other and they can't resist no matter what they do. And whatever they try, they're always drawn back to each other too. I really wanna write something longer like it together x)

Thank you hun ♥ So much!

About the corrections made, I'm not 100% sure about some things but I changed a couple of things back from what you said x) So if I changed them back to wrong, I take the blame XD

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about the corrections. It was fine before already and I only give suggestions anyways. I still don't know most of the rules, but do it with a gut-feeling^^

But really, this would have been perfect for a Halloween fic too. The mood is a bit like in our Descendants of Darkness and I am craving for these thigns. Like, they are bad motherfuckers, feed on humans, don't give a shit about any living or dead creature, but they are bound to each other on a level beyond love. My, that's just romantic if you ask me XD

[identity profile] sugfan.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I just can't describe how much i love this! The mood is just Sexy, Dark and well Perfect.
I love how they are so bound to eachother, and can not resist not matter what they do. They are just so drawn to eachother.

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw thank you so much! I am glad that you liked it :) I always live off of making the mood come across, so if I managed with that I'm happy XD

I really love that thought. Being bound to each other in a way that makes it impossible for them to resist it. I dunno why it's so fascinating XD

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It was mostly with prepositions, since you offered 'at' in several places where I thought it's 'in' XD So I went with my way since to me it sounded much better.

I was thinking of saving it for halloween, but then I just decided that since I do have something for it already I can use this for AU instead x) haha and now I wanna write something dark and mysterious XD

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I want dark and mysterious too :D Totally!

And well, it really is mostly 'at' when I offered it. But it doesn't matter really. Damn, I really love this short fic.

Can't we write something similar? Don't you have a plot in mind for it? Don't you? Don't you?

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, that sounded just like what I said XD
It's such a cool story, right? I can't stop reading it again and again!

And sorry for butting in :D

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I still think it's "in the dead of night" and "in one's right mind" x) But I can't be sure.

I don't really have a plot in mind, I'm afraid :/ I would love to write something dark and mysterious and cool and damn. We'd have to think of it.

And did I already thank you for your kind words? :D

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes mylady, you thanked me already the first time I told you ^_^

Okay, when I dunno what preposition to use, I think of songs:

And at dead of night the whistle blows
And people fear she's running still...

Remember the song? Heh, we should make it a fic once, btw. Would do for dark and mysterious. Although I am trying to write something to that right now. But I fear it won't get done for AU week. Damn, I need more time :D

Still, I have to repeat myself here. This is so perfect from the mood and it would be so cool if we managed to write something like that together. Maybe something where the main characters aren't even together all the time. You know, like where they interact with others and such. Gods, my brains are goo, sorry.

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, don't remember it. But I know another song in which they say 'in' the dead of night XD But well, it's not that serious. I should ask someone who knows English properly x)

*hugs tight* Nah, I understood what you meant! And it'd be a bit like with that one travel-fic we talked about where there'd be interaction with others and they would only meet in the end. I think we should manage.

[identity profile] seinen-no.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, that didn't leave me alone and apparently, for 'dead of night' both prepositions go. Heh, funny that you like 'in' more when I prefer 'at' x)

Well, I feel like we don't manage anything long at the moment at all ... It's so hard at the moment.

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see XD I never heard 'at' with that before you used it, and to me 'in' just sounds much more familiar. Maybe it's something one just gets used to.

Hey, we did the travel-story! It was fairly long at least, several chapters. Otherwise you're right though, it feels that we constantly don't have enough time or energy :/

[identity profile] sugfan.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
oh well i guess great minds think a like XD

[identity profile] sanghamyers.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoooo, now THAT was really a fine piece of fic. I'm impressed at the whole scenario you've created. I'm stunned. Now there's a sequel in my imaginaton in which the two of them go fucking their brains out! That's awesome! Thanks! XD

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank youuu~! 8D I was really hoping that I would get the mood across, and hey, if it provoked a sequel in your mind even that's all the better! ;D haha, originally I wanted to write it longer too, but it seemed to end nicely there so I let it be x) Me and my short ficlets...

Thanks so much for your words, dear ;D

[identity profile] sanghamyers.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome! Your ficlets are always worth it and this one is truly awesome.

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) I really am happy that you liked it!

[identity profile] fatal-complexes.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
dark & sexy ;D

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! <3

[identity profile] elloran.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
I simply had to read this again. I really like the mood here.
Do you plan on writing a longer vampire fic some time again?

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much dear :) I'm happy you liked it!

Actually, Pia and I were planning on several longer vampire fics. We just lack a bit of a plot for them still, and we somehow don't seem to have the time for any! Plus we dunno yet if we wanna make them circle around Die and Kaoru or Die and Tosh x) Anyways. And I'd kinda wanna write something longer too, alone, with cool vampires and all, but I don't know if I can XD

... and sorry for babbling x)

[identity profile] elloran.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's great! There can never be enough vampire stories! I'm sure you'll find the missing pieces of the plot :)
Aww, I'm sure you can do that alone. Why do you think you couldn't?

No need to be sorry, I can deal with your babbling if you can deal with my short comments *laughs*

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so too x) It's a pity there aren't more of them to read :D heh and yeah, we will, it just might take ages x)

Well, the thing is, I can't write anything long with a plot on my own x) I only write these snippets, glimpses of life and those always end up more like long drabbles than real fics. So somehow I just can't carry a plot alone...

heh, it's a deal then! XD
