Heaven Sent
Chapter 1
The sun warmed his face with its rays, but still Kaoru didn't open his eyes instantly. It was Sunday, the only free day of the week for him and he didn't feel like letting go of sleep already. At moments like these, he asked himself why he worked such a shitty job. It wasn't exactly shitty, because he earned enough money to afford a nice apartment, even a car. The problem was though that his boss practically owned him and made him work overtime almost every day. However, it was Sunday and thus he shouldn't think about work and only about doing something nice.
He had met this girl at the office, Hanako, and since she had given him her number, he thought about inviting her to a coffee. But if he wanted to do that, he should better get up and take a shower to make a good impression. Tentatively, he opened his eyes, blinking against the brightness in the room. "Gods!"
Kaoru almost fell off the bed, flinching. A redheaded man sat at the edge of the bed, smiling broadly at him. "Who the hell are you and how did you get inside?" Staring at the stranger with wide eyes, Kaoru carefully turned around, intending to reach for the telephone and call the police.
"I wouldn't call anyone, since you're the only one who sees me anyways." The redhead advised, still grinning merrily, obviously amused by the other's reaction. "And to your questions; I'm Die and I got in through the door."
For a long moment, Kaoru only stared at the other, too shocked to react in any way. Swallowing the comment that the door was locked, he shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut for a moment only to find the redhead still there when he opened them again. Then, he searched for an easy way to escape and without re-thinking his decision, grabbed his phone, jumped off the bed and darted into the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
"Good heavens," he mumbled and dialled the number of the police. It seemed to take ages until somebody answered. "Listen mam, here's a burglar in my apartment. I am in the bathroom, please send somebody quickly." He stuttered, shaking a bit because he had no idea why the other had just sat there instead of taking what he wanted and leave again. The receptionist asked him for his address, tried to calm him and told him not to move away from where he was. The question if the burglar was armed couldn't be answered and thus she advised him not to make a move until the police arrived.
Nervously Kaoru turned to look at the door, to see if it was really safely locked. Suddenly, a merry voice sounded from behind his back. "I told you it's no use. But now you see yourself." The redhead was now sitting on the counter, swinging his legs that dangled over the edge.
It caused Kaoru almost a heart attack and he flung around. "How the hell did you get inside here?" Again, he closed his eyes, this time pinching himself hard to see if he was dreaming. With his hands behind his back, he unlocked the door, ready to flee again if the other made another move.
Die didn't move though, but smiled sweetly at the him. "I just came here. No big deal." There was the sound of people running up the stairs outside the apartment in the hall, and it made Die nod towards the door. "Don't you want to let your friends in?"
Utterly confused and unable to make anything of this situation, Kaoru nodded and went to get the door. The two policemen pushed him aside and entered the flat. "You called? We thought you're in the bathroom." "Well," Kaoru looked around nervously, "I was, but he came inside. He's still in there." The first cop nodded and together they were sneaking to the bathroom door, telling the burglar to give up and come out. But when they entered the room, they found it empty.
"Look sir, this is not funny." The cops admonished Kaoru angrily when they came back. "I swear, he was there just a few seconds ago. Maybe he escaped through the fire stairs." The black-haired man had no idea how the intruder should've left though without him noticing it, but he managed to convince the cops and they promised to search the neighbourhood for a tall redheaded man.
Once they were gone, Kaoru leaned his back against the door, sighing deeply. "What a morning."
"Well, maybe you should go back to bed?" A happy voice was there again beside him, and when he turned his head Die was there grinning at him. "I could accompany you."
"Fucking hell!" Kaoru pressed his hand on his heart, terrified. He really had thought the redhead had vanished somehow, had been even ready to believe he only had existed in his imagination, but now he stood there again. This time, he poked his finger into the intruder's stomach, trying to see if he was real. "W-what do you want?"
"I'm here to protect you. I'm an angel." Die informed as if it was the most natural thing in the whole world, smiling brightly at the other.
"Did the guys from the office send you? If they did, this is not funny." Just when the words had left Kaoru's mouth, he became aware that he was only wearing his boxers and the fact that this 'angel' was staring at him quite openly made him feel uncomfortable. "You better leave now. I have to get ready for a date." Ignoring the intruder, Kaoru turned around and walked back into the bathroom, intending to go on as if nothing had happened. He was sure that his colleagues had planned this joke and he would give them hell the next day.
"Well, technically it's a much higher power that sent me." The angel tilted his head, still smiling brightly. "And I won't be leaving. Just get ready for the date if you wish, but I'll follow along." He was staring at the other still, openly memorizing every curve of his body.
"That's it." Angrily, Kaoru slammed the towel he had just grabbed into the sink and faced the redhead. "Look, you can't expect me to believe such shit. I don't even believe in God, so why should I believe in angels?" Without waiting for an answer, he grabbed Die's shoulders, turned him around and pushed him towards the entrance door to get rid of his unwanted visitor. "And you certainly won't follow me along. Besides, it's not the noble English way to follow somebody into the bathroom." For some reason, he knew that the other wasn't dangerous, his first shock gone, drowned out by annoyance.
"Well, but I've got my orders." Die resisted quite easily, and just dodged a bit to the side so that it made Kaoru stumble. "And I won't let you out of my sight for a second."
"Fine then!" Kaoru threw up his hands in surrender. For a second, he thought about tying the redhead down and calling the police again, but something held him back. Why didn't they see him when he had been there all along? Could it be that he was going slightly mad, that he was more lonely than he thought and his mind now made up an invisible friend? Being a reasonable person, Kaoru decided to ignore the other from then on, sure he would go back to wherever he had come from.
So he took a deep breath and went back into the bathroom, slammed the door shut and locked it again. 'I'm becoming paranoid,' he told himself, stripped off his boxers and climbed into the shower. Maybe the warm spray would get him back to his senses.
It took a moment, but after some time he could feel someone staring at him. He was a bit nervous to turn his head somehow, but when he did he again saw the redhead. Die was sitting on the floor, shamelessly staring at the other and obviously liking what he saw. "You look good!" He commented as he saw the other had noticed him.
'He's not there. Just an imagination, just an imagination' Kaoru's mind was racing and despite the fact that he still was convinced the other was just a trick of his mind, the way he stared at him made him blush fiercely. Embarrassed, Kaoru turned so that his back was facing the redhead. But he didn't succeed in remaining silent too long and finally griped. "Get the hell outta here. I mean it. One doesn't just stare at a naked man and tell him that he looks good."
"I just did." The answer came with a happy chuckle. "And you look good. You should move around without clothes more. To give me a better view on everything."
The comment made Kaoru feel even more uncomfortable and now that he was practically done with the shower, he was facing another problem. How to get a towel without showing himself to the bluntly staring redhead again. "You definitely can't be an angel. Angels are pristine and nice creatures, and they certainly wouldn't just burst into someone's life and turn it upside down."
Anxiously covering his bareness with one hand, Kaoru tried to reach for a towel with the other. He had no idea why he was debating with the intruder, but something told him that he wouldn't get rid of him that easily. The plan of tying him down came back to his mind and he stored it there for later use. His first priority was to get dressed.
With a sweet smile the redhead handed him a towel, only to pull it back a bit to make Kaoru stumble and grab the shower for support which gave him the opportunity to stare once again. "Well, angels do what they're told to do. And you're my mission." His smile turned into a smirk. "And what a good looking mission that is."
With an angry growl, Kaoru yanked the towel away from the other's hand and quickly fastened it around his hips. His face was burning hot and he knew he was glowing like the lantern of a cheap Chinese restaurant. "Does that mission include molesting me?" he asked sarcastically and went to the door. Only when he turned the handle and found it still locked, he gasped in surprise. So the redhead indeed was only in his imagination, because there was no way that Kaoru believed this angel story. But why did his mind create a guy to keep him company; an overly horny guy as it seemed? Was there something wrong with him? These thoughts caused an unpleasant feeling inside him and Kaoru tried to shrug them off and instead get dressed quickly to go over to his plan and get rid of the intruder.
"Well," The redhead had got on his feet too, following the other man. He answered to the initial question, unaware of the battle inside the other's head. "The mission doesn't include molesting anyone necessarily, but we're going to spend a lot of time together and..." His voice held a clear suggestive undertone.
Kaoru, who had already put on some shorts without removing the towel, flung around and stared at the redhead in disbelief. "And...? And you're going to go on like this? Listen," he sighed, even rolling his eyes to show his annoyance, "didn't you watch Dogma? Angels don't have proper equipment. Thus, I'm not afraid of you." He nodded, emphasizing the certainty that resonated in his voice. Indeed if he ever imagined an angel, it would be a genderless creature and definitely without equipment.
"I do have the necessary bodyparts." Die laughed, shaking his head at the other's words. "I can show you if you don't believe me." He winked, slowly strolling closer.
"Go ahead!" Kaoru smirked, but involuntarily took a few steps backwards, not liking the expression on the other's face. But he was sure, no matter if this was just a prank of his colleagues or a trick of his mind, the angel wouldn't walk the talk. There was just no way a human would be this dodgy and surely his mind wouldn't provide him with a sight like that either.
He was totally wrong again though, as the angel just shrugged and opened the knot of the rope that held his loose pants up. Obviously he wasn't really ashamed of anything, and ready to prove his words right.
When the pants dropped to the floor, Kaoru covered his eyes with his hands, releasing a shocked sound. "It's okay, I do believe you." However, he couldn't deny himself from taking a peek at the redhead through a small gap between his fingers. And indeed, the other was fully equipped.
Nodding contently Die pulled his pants back on, before turning to grin at the other. "Good. So you thought about my suggestion?"
"Your suggestion?" Kaoru looked pricelessly dumb as he stared at his counterpart open-mouthed, not knowing what he had meant. "What suggestion?"
"About getting to bed." The grin on the angel's face widened even more if possible.
"Hell no!" Kaoru stumbled a few steps backwards, frantically shaking his head. It was settled now, he was going mad, a nutcase. And above all, a gay one as it seemed. His flight was limited by the bed behind him and before he could prevent it, he fell backwards down on it, still staring at the other in shock.
Slowly the redhead took a few steps closer, chuckling a bit. This human was truly both, attractive and his reactions amusing. "Come on. It won't hurt you. I'd just show you a bit of heaven. Like a glimpse of the future, so to say."
Quickly, Kaoru got a hold of himself and rolled over, getting off the bed on the other side. The other's last sentence had caught his attention and without reacting to the suggestive undertone, he asked. "What do you mean by saying you give me a glimpse of the future? Am I going to die?"
"Well eventually yes. Everyone dies one day." Die shrugged, getting on the bed and crawling a bit closer to the other. "But I know that a gorgeous thing like you will definitely go to heaven when the time comes."
A relieved sigh left Kaoru's lips. "So I'm not going to die soon?" Only then, he realized the other part of the comment and it made him frown. "What if I sinned? What if my soul is spoiled, will I go to heaven still then because YOU think I look good?" Inwardly, he couldn't believe that he actually began to address the other as a creature of god, but suddenly a smirk found its way to his lips. "If you're an angel, where are your wings and the gloriole? And why should I believe that you're not a devil, seeing your red hair?" Maybe he could trick the other like this and distract him so much that he could find something with which he could tie him down.
"Well, not everything's like it's in the books or the movies." The redhead shrugged, obviously not disturbed by the questions. "I have my wings too. And you just need to believe me." He took on an adorable smile, blinking innocently at the other. "Aren't I just too cute to be a devil?"
The last question made Kaoru laugh whole-heartedly and for a moment, he forgot the circumstances that had brought the other into his bedroom. "Well, I somehow always imagined devils to be more cute, alluring. But you definitely know how to take on a face that makes one believe butter wouldn't melt in your mouth."
"Well, you just need to trust me when I tell you I'm an angel." Die concluded, his smile widening. he tried to sneak a bit closer to the other without him noticing as they were speaking.
And as Kaoru's brains were too occupied with trying to process this situation still, he didn't notice it, looking into the distance. "Well, I think I don't have much of a choice."
The angel smiled contently as he got almost beside the other, and reached out his hand, intending on pulling him closer.
"Hey!" When Kaoru noticed it, he slapped the angel's hand away. "What do you want? I mean, how do I get rid of you again?"
"There's no way." Die smiled even more brightly, obviously enthusiastic. "I'm gonna follow you for good now."
"For... good?" Kaoru sounded disbelieving and hung his head. Suddenly, he remembered something and a smile found its way back to his lips. "Well then." Shrugging, he bent down a bit, bringing his face closer to the redhead's. "If we're to spend the rest of my life together, I can very well enjoy it too, right?" Slowly, he climbed on the bed, urging Die to move backwards, gazing deep into his eyes.
The angel looked a bit surprised, but let the other move him further on the bed. He couldn't help but to chuckle, thinking that he was just too good. "I knew you'd come to your senses."
"Yes, who could resist an angel? Definitely not a mortal man like me." Smiling sweetly, Kaoru lowered his head and closed his eyes half way as if to kiss Die. Just when their lips were about to meet, something fastened around the angel's wrist and then on the bedhead. "Ha!" The black-haired man laughed. "I never thought I would have any use for them." He nodded at the cuffs that were covered by a fluffy pink cloth.
"Hey!" Die pouted instantly, somehow guessing that this wasn't just some kinky turn on for the other man but that he was simply being tricked. "That wasn't nice!"
"No, but only fair. I certainly won't take you on a date with me." With a content smile on his lips, Kaoru retreated and went into the living room to call Hanako and ask her if she would like to have a coffee with him, maybe even dinner later. Certain that the angel couldn't get into his way anymore now, his good mood returned and he even thought he wasn't going insane after all.
Before he left the apartment, he went back to his bedroom though. Partly to make sure that Die was still cuffed to the bed and partly to show him that he had won after all. "Have fun here. I figure angels don't need to eat, do they?"
"Nope." Die tilted his head, glaring at the other and clearly pouting. His pride was deeply hurt.
"You indeed are cute when you look like that." The human teased winking and then turned around to leave. A date with Hanako would certainly bring him back to his senses and this spawn of his mind would vanish like it had appeared. He still couldn't believe that he had invented himself a male horny angel. Pushing that thought to the background, Kaoru took his car and drove off to pick up Hanako, whistling merrily.
The girl obviously liked Kaoru, and was determined to have fun with him. They had had their coffee, and agreed on to have dinner together as well. Everything went well, and Kaoru already congratulated himself several times about both; getting rid of the angel and making a good impression on Hanako.
They were having dinner in a small and cosy restaurant, already almost finished with their meals, when Kaoru suddenly felt a somewhat familiar presence again. "You thought you'd won?" A happy voice sounded from his side, and the redheaded angel was sitting on the edge of the next table. There was one older man who sat beside the same table, but he didn't even seem to notice the redhead and only concentrated on his food.
Kaoru flinched, almost jumped off his chair. "What the fuck are you doing here? How did you get free?" Only then, he noticed that Hanako was staring at him. Instantly, he got a hold of himself, coughing to cover his nervousness. "I'm sorry. I thought I saw an old acquaintance. I was obviously mistaken." Ignoring the redhead, he took a sip of his drink and smiled at the girl.
She looked a bit puzzled, but finally melted into a smile. "It happens to everyone. Don't worry." Die snorted in his place, measuring Hanako's appearance thoroughly. "She's too skinny for a woman." He commented, arching an eyebrow.
"She is not!" hissed Kaoru automatically, defending his date. Slowly, sweat was rising on his forehead. This could become quite a challenge for him. For a moment, he closed his eyes, telling himself that the redhead was just an imagination, still just a trick of his mind. For the next moments, Kaoru tried his best to ignore the angel and directed his attention to Hanako again, beginning a shallow conversation to distract her from his slight inconvenience.
"But look at her!" Die spoke up after Kaoru already thought he'd given up. "She doesn't even have decent boobs!" He had moved closer, and was now standing almost beside the girl, who didn't react in any way though, obviously unaware of his presence.
"Don't you stare at her like that." Before Kaoru knew what he was doing, he had jumped up and pushed the angel backwards. "And she has very nice boobs!"
Hanako was blushing fiercely as everybody in the room directed his gaze at her. "Kaoru! That's no way to compliment a girl." She glared at the black-haired man who only then saw what he had done. "Oh, I'm sorry. I mean.. but..." he stuttered, not knowing how he should apologize for his rudeness. Slowly, he sat down again, glaring at Die fiercely.
Die on the other hand seemed to be totally happy with himself. "Well, maybe you just like them different than I do." He shrugged, moving closer to Kaoru. "But I think that you're much more gorgeous than this girl anyways."
"Get away from me!" Kaoru hissed through clenched teeth, not moving his lips. It took him some convincing and a lot of sweet talk, but he managed to calm Hanako down and make her believe that he wasn't just a lunatic, although the angel remained close to him and limited his actions. But then, Kaoru's hard work paid off and Hanako leaned over the table, allowing him to kiss her.
Die couldn't resist the temptation to mess up things a bit more now, and leaned closer, nuzzling his nose against the soft skin below Kaoru's ear. Coevally he brought their bodies a bit closer together.
First, Kaoru was determined to kiss the girl still, fighting to ignore the angel's advances. But just when their lips were about to meet, he felt Die's tongue on his skin and it made him flinch and slap his head. "Bastard!"
That proved to be too much for his date though and Hanako jumped up from her seat, glaring at Kaoru with a blushed face. "Nobody in my entire life ever called me like that. You are a bastard yourself, Kaoru. Good night!" With having said that, she turned around and left, holding her head up high. "Hanako, wait." But all Kaoru's attempts to fix things and to make her stay were in vain. All that was left for him to do was to pay the bill and think about a murder-plot for the redhead.
"I still say she was too flat chested." Die chuckled at the other man's furious expression, standing only a few steps away from him. "And she wouldn't have given you any anyways."
"She would have." Fuming, Kaoru waked along the street, taking long strides. "Do you have the slightest idea how long it's been since I got laid? And I was this close." He didn't care for the weird glances he received from passers-by who probably thought he had lost his mind, talking to himself.
"Well, I offered you some already." The redhead chuckled, practically bouncing as he walked beside the other. "And she wouldn't have."
"Your chest is even flatter than hers." His own choice of words managed to make Kaoru chuckle despite his anger. There was something innocent in the redhead that made it hard to remain angry at him. "And she would have."
"I know, but I'm not a woman. That's a difference." Die didn't seem to be bothered by the other's anger in the first place. "And she wouldn't have."
"What makes you so sure?" In the middle of the crowd, Kaoru stopped abruptly and faced the angel. "I swear, she was ready! And that tiny fact that you're not a woman keeps me from agreeing upon your offer."
"You really don't know that it's even better with a man, do you?" The angel giggled merrily, looking at the other with sparkling eyes. "And she was just the type. She would've led you on but then refused to get further."
"Of course I have never been with a man." Kaoru yelped shocked. "And believe me, I'm quite good. She would've let me!" Suddenly aware of the stares he got from the people around them, he descended the stairs to the underground, just wanting to flee the scene, wanting to be back in the safety of his home and think about calling a psychiatrist.
"Well, you might be right though..." Die frowned ponderingly. "After all you ARE gorgeous. But I still say she wouldn't have." He followed the other like a shadow, not letting him but a couple of steps away.
Kaoru didn't answer to that comment, only gave Die a glare over his shoulder. Only when he sat in the wagon, he addressed the redhead again. "Could you stop breathing down my neck? I'm getting paranoid!" Another passenger looked offended and quickly took a few steps away from him, shaking his head. "They are going to deliver me to the mental asylum, I'm sure." Kaoru's voice was quiet and he sighed deeply.
"You just need to remember others can't see me, but can very well hear you." The redhead laughed, sitting in a free seat beside the other. He would've wanted to sit on his lap in reality, but got a hold of himself.
"That's not easy." The rest of the trip went by in silence since Kaoru just kept his mouth shut and ignored the importunate angel. But at the moment when he had closed the door to his apartment behind him, he turned around to address the other, only to find him standing in the middle of the living room already. "How do you do this? You were behind me all the time." However, there was something else bothering Kaoru and he just had to ask. "Why can I touch you while other's seemingly can't?"
"I'm YOUR angel." Die shrugged, plopping to sit down on the couch. "And I can control it somewhat. If I want to, then I can make others see me for a moment too, but it's hard."
"You were just having the time of your life ruining my date, right?" Although he didn't want to, Kaoru had to smile a bit because this situation was just too weird. He sat down in his armchair, anxious to have enough safety distance between himself and HIS angel.
"Well, it was amusing, yes." The redhead laughed, shaking his head at the memory. "She had such funny expressions."
"You could've shown yourself to her though and apologize. At least I would've had a nice night then after all." Sighing again, Kaoru stood up and went to the kitchen to fetch himself a drink, needing something strong.
"But then I wouldn't have had a nice night." Die was there in the kitchen already when the other got there.
"Fucking hell! Stop doing that." Kaoru jumped startled, but got a hold of himself quickly. "If your 'nice night' includes me, count me out," he just said and poured himself a double scotch after dropping some ice-cubes into a glass. He emptied it in one huge gulp and quickly refilled it. Maybe the angel would disappear when he was drunk?
"Well, if you keep on drinking like that I can definitely count you in," the angel laughed freely.
"Don't get your hopes too high. I can hold my drink very well." To prove it, Kaoru emptied the second glass as quickly as the first and again refilled it. Grabbing the bottle, he strolled back into the living-room, this time flopping down on the couch.
And there the angel was again, sitting right beside him. "Well, but I can always hope."
"If you like to get disappointed." Kaoru grinned at the other, for once not bothering that he was so close. It was the first time that he took a closer look at the angel, at his sparkling chocolate brown eyes, his nice, potato-shaped nose to his big mouth with a pair of full lips. And the human had to admit that the angel indeed was cute, for a guy.
"So maybe we could just try to get to know each other." Die smiled sweetly, leaning a bit against the other and making himself comfortable.
"You really are importunate, did somebody ever tell you that?" Kaoru asked chuckling but allowed the angel to come closer. "Okay, if you don't expect anything else, feel free to ask whatever you want to know." He blamed it on the alcohol, but suddenly it wasn't too uncomfortable anymore to have the other near. To keep that feeling, Kaoru emptied his glass again and then lifted the bottle, offering it to Die. "Can you drink or not?"
"Of course I can. I don't really get drunk though." Die grinned, and indeed took the bottle and took a long sip of the liquid. "And just tell me something about yourself. What do you do?"
"I work at a huge trading company in the office. Arrange the shippings and such. Boring and stressy but well paid." Slowly, Kaoru began to give away facts of his life, even told the angel that he played the guitar when he had been younger. But somewhere in between, he looked up, a frown on his forehead. "Hey, when you're MY angel, shouldn't you know all these things?"
"I know most of them." Die smiled. "But it's nicer to hear them from you." He had rested his head on the other's shoulder at one point.
Again, Kaoru ignored this gesture and shrugged. "Okay." He went on to tell the angel about his life and after some time, felt as if he was talking to an old friend. Of course, how else should he feel when he was talking to an imagination of his mind in reality.
After a few more scotch, he became tired and yawned. "I think I go to bed. I have to get up early for work. You can sleep on the couch. It's quite comfortable and there's a woollen blanket in case you're cold."
"But I wanna sleep in the bed!" Instantly the angel created an adorable pout, looking as if he was ready to beg.
"And have you molest me while I sleep? No way. You are a good boy and stay here." Like talking to a dog, Kaoru patted Die's head and then went into his bedroom, fully trusting that the other wouldn't follow him.
Again he was wrong, as the redhead wasn't going to give in. He waited until the other man was in bed though, and appeared there beside him. He had taken the blanket with him though, and didn't try to make his way under the other's.
Seeing this as a compromise, Kaoru didn't order him back to the living-room and settled for just turning his back on his unwanted visitor. He was determined to make the best of his situation and was dearly hoping that this slight mental disturbance would pass him by soon. Of course he was in no way convinced that the redhead indeed was an angel.
They both fell asleep after some time, since even the angel's presence didn't bother Kaoru too much. Somewhere in the middle of the night Die turned towards the other, wrapping one arm around his waist.
Subconsciously, Kaoru moved closer to the warmth behind him, even enjoying it. But when his alarm shrieked and he opened his eyes again, he quickly moved away from the redhead and blushed because he had been sleeping so intimately close to a man.
Die seemed to be fully awake at the same instant, and practically beamed up at the other. "Morning! Slept well?"
The answer came a bit reluctant, but was nevertheless honest. "Yeah." Suddenly, Kaoru remembered something and turned around to face the other. "Listen, I gotta work today and I really have an asshole-boss. So please don't do anything, okay?"
"Okays," The redhead promised, looking as innocent as possible. "I promise I won't do anything in front of your boss."
Not noticing the limitation in Die's statement, Kaoru sighed relieved. "Thank you. Really." Quickly, he got dressed and slipped into a jacket. Only then, he remembered his car. "Fucking hell. I forgot my car at the restaurant." The crazy idea that Die could fetch the car was discarded as quickly as it had popped into his mind. "Well, I will get it after work then." He never used the car to get to work. It was too stressy to drive into town through the rush-hour.
"WE will get it after work then." Die corrected automatically, standing beside the other although a moment ago he had still been lying on the bed.
All Kaoru could do was to laugh and shake his head. "Will you always stay with me? I mean, when I marry, will you be there at my wedding night, or when my first child is born?"
"I will." The redhead nodded instantly, handing the other his keys. ”You won't get rid of me." Inwardly he shuddered at the mention of the marriage though, as he already was jealous and didn't want to see anyone lay his hands on Kaoru.
"Well, if that's the case. Then I'll be grey and old until I find a woman who can stand my weird dropouts when I yell at you." For some reason, Kaoru was in a very good mood and even held the door open for the angel although he knew it wasn't necessary.
At work, he was facing Hanako again and thought it would be best to go over to her directly and to apologize. "Listen Hanako, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I don't know, but I think I'm a bit stressed out from work. The boss made me work overtime so much. Please forgive me and gimme another chance."
All he received was a rather cold stare. "Well," she hesitated, because she truly liked Kaoru and would've somehow wanted to give in. "Maybe we could try again once." Die somehow didn't approve though, stepped behind Kaoru and sneaked his arms around his waist, breathing against his neck. "You really wanna see her again?"
Kaoru flinched only barely noticeable, determined not to mess this up again. "Thanks Hanako. You will see, I'm no lunatic." He gave her his most stunning smile and then wanted to turn around, but was limited by Die's arms that were still wrapped tightly around his waist.
"But you are, a tiny bit lunatic." Die chuckled, pressing a line of wet kisses along the other man's neck, pulling him a bit closer. Hanako looked a bit suspicious, examining Kaoru's slightly weird expression.
Bewildered, Kaoru tried to wriggle free without drawing too much attention at the movement, but when Die's breath struck the wet skin, he couldn't prevent a small shudder to run down his spine and to tilt his head slightly. Using his last opportunity, he quickly bent down, pretending to pick something up.
The redhead laughed merrily, satisfied as he saw the other's reaction. Hanako on the other hand quickly excused herself and went back to work.
Forcing the weird feelings inside him to the background, Kaoru quickly went to his desk as well and switched on the computer. He had some orders to take care of and all in all this looked like becoming just another stressy and annoying day. At least his boss wasn't there at the moment and didn't look for somebody to pick on.
Die seated himself at the edge of Kaoru's table, swinging his legs merrily. After some time he got bored though, and eventually was practically lying on the table and judged Kaoru's co-workers by their looks. "…and that one is just too old and fat!" he ended his explanations, pointing his finger in the general direction of a man who approached them along the corridor.
"That's my fucking boss." Quickly, Kaoru jumped up and bowed to his boss who was apparently approaching him. He didn't like that man at all who thought he owned his workers as much as the company. "You were late, Niikura." Was the only comment he received before the man disappeared in his office again and left a relieved sighing Kaoru behind.
"I'm gonna go and pay him a visit." Die chuckled merrily, obviously intending on playing some sort of prank on the boss. He even sat up, ready to get on his feet.
"No!" In the nick of time, Kaoru grabbed his arm and tried to hold him back, only then realizing that some of his co-workers had turned their heads to look at him. Instantly, he smiled. "Just something that went wrong." Inwardly, he drooped, thinking that the angel would manage to make him lose his job if he went on like that.
"But he's ugly and mean." Die pouted instantly. "And I want to do SOMETHING. This is boring."
"You promised." Kaoru reminded whispering. But then he smiled. "Just go and find something to distract you. Something that won't endanger my job."
"I promised not to make you look like a moron in front of him." The angel reminded the other, smiling. "I didn't promise not to touch him." He sighed in deep, rolling on his stomach and resting his chin on his palm. "How do you stand it from one day to another?"
"Well, it's routine." Kaoru answered with a small shrug. Actually, he didn't want to think about his work too much, because it indeed made him feel miserable, as if he was wrong there. And if one asked him, he would've more than just gladly told his boss what he thought of him. "Then go and annoy him. But make it so that he doesn't think it's one of us who tries to trick him. Last time, he got so annoyed that a colleague of mine committed suicide because he couldn't take it anymore."
"Really?" Die's eyes widened as he looked surprised at the other. "He's a total bastard!" He was determined to do something about it, but this needed a good plan. So that he'd get his amusement but that the boss wouldn't be able to blame anyone.
"I told you that he was. But he pays well." Somehow, Kaoru thought he should take back what he had said and whispered. "Just don't interfere. It's okay as it is and the job can be fun too." A look in the angel's sparkling eyes told him though that it was too late, that he was already plotting a plan.
The rest of the day went by surprisingly well, as Die was too distracted with plotting something to cause troubles. He wanted this to work out and besides, it gave him something to do.

And here you can see a small graphic-type of thing kinda included with the story^^
