[livejournal.com profile] seinen_no: Gah, there we thought we'd be able to post regularely, but as it seems, we're having too much stress. That's the reason why I didn't re-read this again. So have mercy on us if we overlooked mistakes or so. But I didn't want to let you wait longer and – to be honest – I'm too tired to read through it again now. So have fun with it still^^

Chapter 4

Kaoru felt the gaze upon him and it made his hackles curl in a not completely unpleasant way. After he was cleaned up, wearing his pants again, he approached the redhead, a smug smile on his lips. In a quick movement, he tugged the blanket away and hit him with the cold, wet washing cloth on the stomach. "Clean yourself." Yet, he didn't make a move to turn around. Quite the contrary, he kept his eyes glued to the other's form.

Instinctively Die grabbed the washcloth, but didn't make a move to do anything. He just stared at Kaoru, trying to signal he didn't want him to stand there and watch. As the look had no effect, he finally spoke up. "Turn."

The vampire hitched an eyebrow steeply. "Shy?" His voice gave away his amusement.

"Just turn." The redhead growled slightly annoyed.

Shaking his head, Kaoru did as he was told, reluctantly turning his back on him. However, he couldn't deny himself from stealing a glance at the mirror on the washing table, stubbornly wanting to have his will still.

Quickly Die cleaned himself with the washcloth, before reaching for his pants and pulling them on to cover his form. Somehow having clothes on made him feel more secure as ridiculous as it might've sounded.

"Are you done?" Kaoru asked, snickering a bit. Without waiting for an answer, he approached the bed again and sat down at its end. For a moment, he only watched the redhead contemplatively, asking himself the same question as the other. Did this change something between them? Certainly not his determination to finish his task. But what had happened that night had been different for the vampire, had elicited feelings he had never felt before.

"Yep," Die nodded as an answer to the question, although a bit late. He didn't say anything further, but kept his eyes on Kaoru, examining his features and trying to read something about his thoughts from his expression. He knew this hadn't changed anything when it came to his fate, and that he still would be brought to the vampire's master to get killed. But he didn't know how the rest of the journey would turn out now.

This time, the other's gaze made Kaoru feel a bit uneasy and to cover it, he reached out his hand and caressed Die's cheek in pretended affection. Or at least this was what he wanted it looked like, because there was true affection hidden in the soft touch. Grinning, the vampire winked at him. "You weren't that bad. For a human and for your first time. Still, you could improve."

The answer was a snort, and the young man shook his head a bit. "Don't you even try to complain." He couldn't deny though that he liked the way Kaoru touched his cheek, and the caress had made him even close his eyes for a split second.

The vampire smirked. "Oh, I don't complain. I'm only saying that I could teach you." Laughing, he stood up again and walked around the bed to lie down on his side, his back leaning comfortably against the bed-head.

"And why should I want to learn?" Die tilted his head, following him with his eyes. His heart had skipped at the words though, as that was clearly implying that the other wanted to relive the happenings.

"Because you enjoyed it more than you want to admit." Kaoru stated self-confidently and leaned a bit towards him, whispering. "And practice makes perfect." To him, it was out of the question that he wanted to re-enact this, wanted to feel again what he had felt while climaxing together with the human.

"Mock me one more time and that certainly makes sure I'll keep a fair distance from you." The redhead couldn't help but to grin a bit, noticing that he was trying to threaten a vampire who was many times stronger than he was and held the upper hand anyways.

"I didn't mock you." Though he meant it, Kaoru chuckled a bit, being threatened by a simple human. He shook his head. "And what am I supposed to do now? To keep my mouth shut and do as you say?"

"That would be awesome." Die admitted instantly. "But I doubt there's any chances to that."

The vampire only grinned, but remained quiet, playfully committing himself to the game. Outside, the sun had reached its highest stand and still he wasn't tired for some strange reason. His eyes never leaving the redhead's, he slid down and rested his head on the pillow.

For a long moment the young man only looked back, but finally wasn't able to handle the silence. "What?"

"I keep quiet." Was the simple reply that went along with a few amused chuckles. It was almost as if Kaoru was alive again, feeling carefree for once in a long time.

"Stop playing around." Die had to chuckle as well, and shook his head at the other's behaviour. "You're supposed to be serious and cool."

"Interesting." Kaoru arched an eyebrow, pretending to ponder. "Is that so? Well," he tilted his head a bit, looking straight at the young man. "You're supposed to be frightened to death and try to kill me."

"Maybe I am frightened to death and trying to come up with a perfect murder-plot in my mind?" The redhead suggested innocently.

"No." The vampire shook his head, being serious. "You're not frightened." Winking, he added. "But I'm not sure about the murder-plot."

"Well, it's a lousy one this far." Die confessed and averted his gaze, directing it to his hands. Truth to be told, he hadn't even thought about killing the vampire, always concentrating on how to just simply escape.

"Tell me about it. Maybe I can give you a hint how to get rid of me." Kaoru offered generously, the smile back. He knew that it was dangerous to be trust this human too much. But it was Die's god given right to try to get rid of him and fight for his life, only that he wouldn't make it too easy for him.

"I don't really know how to get rid of you." The young man looked up, smiling slightly. "I only know that if I got you into daylight it wouldn't do good for you."

"A wooden stick through the heart does the trick too." The vampire explained and before he even realized what he was doing, he handed the other man a book, written in tiny handwriting. "Read it and you'll find a way." Actually, it didn't matter if Die learned how he could kill a vampire or not. He was still weaker than Kaoru, could neither mess with his speed nor with his perception.

"You've given me half a library already." Die grinned, but took the book and opened it from a random point. Fact was that he had grown to love books since they kept him company during the boring moments on the ship.

"I don't like the company of uneducated people." Kaoru stated snickering. Winking suggestively, he added. "But if you don't want to read, I know other ways to keep you entertained too."

The redhead rolled his eyes, but the annoyed expression was somewhat ruined by his grin. "And now the horny beast in you is unleashed?"

"It's never been down." The vampire smirked. "Maybe I've been a sailor in my previous life, what do you think?"

"You're not ugly enough."

A bit startled, Kaoru arched an eyebrow and looked at the young man intensely. There was something in the other's voice that made clear, he meant it and the vampire couldn't deny that it felt good to receive a compliment like this. Humans often felt strangely attracted to vampires. That is, if they weren't deadly afraid of them. Still, hearing something like that from the redhead's mouth was special for Kaoru. He didn't comment on that further, suddenly a bit uneasy with their conversation and with the fact that he enjoyed it more than he should; that he enjoyed Die's company more than he should. So he finally broke the eye-contact, turned around and intended to get some sleep before nightfall.

At first Die thought he should get up and take a short walk outside, but when he shifted, the burning feeling in his lower back made him change his mind. So he just took one of the books the vampire had given him and thought he could as well read something. He didn't manage to read long though, only a few lines before his thoughts wandered back to the other and he just got stuck staring at his back.

Kaoru's sleep was deep and dreamless, only blackness filling his mind. But even when he woke up, he kept his eyes closed and thought about the man whose presence he could feel so close to himself. Long ago, another vampire once had told him that he was too soft, too compassionate at times and that there still was something human about him as if he had just been turned.

The redhead had long ago let go of trying to think, as he knew he wouldn't be able to sort out the mass of thoughts from inside of his head. So he just staid there, looking at the form resting beside him.

"Want to go on with your training?" The vampire suddenly asked without having given away that he had been awake before. He knew that Die's butt would probably ache, but thought he could very well grind his teeth and go through practice still. After all, he hadn't used anything Kaoru had taught him so far to fend off the sailors. So there was still the need in practicing and the vampire thought about giving him an example lesson.

The exact same thing came to Die's mind, as he was ashamed that he hadn't managed to even try to fight the sailors on his own. So he nodded at the words, deciding he would be able to take the pain moving would cause. "Okay."

Together, they went outside on deck; the human following Kaoru wordlessly without asking questions. This lesson was different as the vampire had no mercy on him, attacked him and hit hard whenever Die let his guard down or forgot something he had been told. Whenever the redhead was close to collapsing already, panting and his face covered in sweat, he said something like "Go on. Your murderer doesn't wait till you caught your breath." and then attacked again.

Die would've given up long ago, if the other hadn't been throwing small mocking comments in between. Those made his blood boil and he just bit his teeth together, collecting the last remains of strength he had to go on with the fight. He wasn't sure how long he could take it though, but his stubbornness didn't allow him to back off at any point.

Kaoru forced him to reach his limits and then pushed him even further. His intentions were to make the redhead see what he was capable of, and when he landed a hit on the vampire's chin that forced him to take a step backwards, Kaoru clapped his hands and complimented him. However, when they were done, Die was through and couldn't move at all anymore.

He didn't even make it back to the cabin alone, and the vampire had to support him while walking. Stubbornly he didn't allow the other to carry him though, already thinking his pride was hurt enough because he needed to be backed up.

Kaoru respected it, although it would've been easy for him just to lift him into his arms and carry him. But he admired the strong will which guided Die's actions. However, when they reached the cabin, he gently forced him to rest on the bed and went away to fetch him a decent meal.

Somehow Die got some of the food eaten, but then simply had to rest on his place, not wanting to move a muscle. He was aching in places where he didn't know he even had muscles in. But there was some kind of pleasant feeling mixed in too, since he had managed to overcome himself, to just go further despite his tiredness.

***

The next harbor was on English ground and the ship docked there the next day. To Kaoru, this country had become something like a home, although he was born so far away from there. Thinking, that his human companion deserved a reward for his toughness, he took him out that night.

Since Die's muscles were still seriously sore, they took a carriage to town so that he wouldn't have to walk too much. Kaoru assumed that Die had never been to a real bathhouse, nor what ease a hot bath and a good massage could bring to his sore muscles. "Want to try it?" He asked friendly after leading the other into the huge hall.

"Okays." Die nodded instantly, always willing to try something new. It was something that he had always done, as he was just too curious about everything. "What do I need to do?"

The vampire grinned, nodding towards the counter. "Just follow the girl." He had been to that bath house before and had always enjoyed its special services. What Die didn't know was, that he had instructed the people around not to let him out of their sight and since he had tipped them well, they wouldn't disappoint him.

He wanted the redhead to be occupied and guarded for a few hours while he had to take care of some things, like sending his master a telegram, and organizing their further trip from the next harbor. There, they would leave the ship for good and travel on land.

As the vampire left him with the humans, Die thought this would be a chance for him to get away. His muscles were aching too much though, and there always were several people around him so that he didn't exactly have the possibility. So after a while he only concentrated on relaxing, enjoying both the hot bath and the long massage he received. He kept his eyes open though, in case a chance to run opened up.

There was no chance though, at least not at the moment and he was delivered to only enjoy the care he received. After he was bathed and massaged, he was brought to a sauna to get rid of the last remaining tension in his body. When the door opened, he spotted Kaoru sitting there. The vampire winked at him. "Had fun?" There was no sweat on his face, nothing that gave away for how long he had already been sitting there.

"Yes." Die gave him a smile, but sat down leaving a good safety distance between them. The other had a way to make him slightly nervous.

Noticing it, the smile on Kaoru's face widened. "How are your muscles? Feel better?" For the undead, the heat didn't cause him any troubles, but he smelled the sweat rise on the other's skin before it even broke free and had to admit that the scent was enticing.

"At least a lot more relaxed." The redhead nodded, leaning against the wall and letting out a small sigh as he relaxed. "I feel like a rich man. How can you afford all these?"

"Money is of no matter." Kaoru shrugged. "I'm old. At least if one looks at it through the eyes from one of your kind. I gathered enough treasures to afford little pleasures like this."

"How old are you then?" Die couldn't help but to ask, turning to look at the other curiously.

The vampire pondered silently for a moment, counting the years in his head. "238." he answered finally with a smile. "Well, 238 years as a vampire."

"And how old were you when you became one?" The young man went on with his questioning, needing to ask as long as there were questions in his mind.

"I was twenty-one years old." If one looked closely, one could see the slight melancholy hidden in the creature's black eyes. "It's long ago." The thought crossed his mind that if he had never become a vampire, he would've never met the redhead and he couldn't help but to think that this would've been a shame.

"Almost my age." Die nodded seriously, averting his gaze as he fell deep in thoughts. It seemed such a shame that the other had never had the chance to have a full life as a human. But was it that much of a loss eventually?

"Yeah, almost." Kaoru smiled, his eyes clouded by distant memories. "Well, I probably wouldn't have lived long anyways, seeing that my parents were poor peasants who belonged to their landlord."

"One never knows. You might've had a long life too." Die raised his gaze. He didn't say it to be evil, just spoke what was on his mind. No one knew about human life, and what would happen with it. He was probably going to be almost exactly as old as Kaoru had been when his end would come.

"At my time, people didn't get too old. Thirty, maybe forty." The vampire tilted his head, still smiling. "But what sense would it have made to become old, grow weak and still don't see anything, don't get anything from life. I would've married a girl, had gotten a bunch of children from which half had died again and would've worked my hands off on the fields to wrestle a few more months of life from earth."

"But you would've had happy moments with your wife and children, loved them and laughed with them." The redhead smiled softly. "It's not that bad to be human."

"But it doesn't make sense in the end." There was defiance and stubbornness in Kaoru's gaze and suddenly, he asked. "Do you believe in God, Die? Do you believe that he created the world?"

"I don't know." Die fell silent for a moment, thinking of the question. His mother had believed, but his father had always been more just a hard working man, not wasting a thought about those things. So at home he hadn't learned much of anything. "I guess I do, in a way."

"Then you must believe in the devil too. Am I a devil or one of God's creations?" The question had always bothered Kaoru since he had become a vampire. His parents had been buddhists, but he had learned about God and other religions later, had seen how much people had been ruled by them, how much it had been used to control them in the western world.

"I don't know." The redhead looked him straight in the eye, answering as honestly as he was able to. "Maybe both? There are always many sides to one thing."

"You are clever, Die. Clever indeed." Kaoru smiled, really meaning it. Suddenly, the conversation went too deep for him, stirred things inside him that had been sleeping for a long time, had been locked away in a secret part of his soul. He got up. "I think it's time for you to cool down again and for us to get going."

They left the room together, and Die was guided to take a short bath again before he got to dry himself and to get fully dressed again. He was a bit more quiet than usually as some things they'd talked about were still bothering him somewhat.

Silently, they walked through the snowy streets until Kaoru stopped a carriage, deciding to get back to the ship as quickly as possible. It wouldn't be long until it would set sail again with the rising flood.

They didn't even exchange a word before they were back in their cabin on the ship. Die had learned to hate that room, since it was like a cage to him as he rarely even set foot out of it. He went straight to his side of the bed, intending to get some sleep. His sleeping rhythm had begun to resemble the vampire's, since he used boring moments during the day to sleep to be awake when they could spend time together training of studying during the night.

Kaoru knew that he was the reason why Die rarely saw the sunlight and he pitied that fact. Inwardly, he thought that the other should use any given possibility to enjoy its rays on his skin, even if it was only the cold winter sun, before he would be sentenced to death. He should appreciate and enjoy everything in life, every single breath, every blink of his eyes, consciously before it was too late.

So when the sun rose and the vampire was still awake, he nudged his companion. "I want you to go and read your books on deck. Your eyes will become bad when you're only sitting here in the darkness with me and watch my sleep."

Die looked honestly surprised, and was about to protest, but eventually changed his mind and just nodded. He liked the sunlight, and now he trusted himself enough to dare to go on deck although there were sailors who still gave him longing glances.

Somehow he had still enjoyed Kaoru's company in a way, although he had been asleep throughout the day. But from then on Die spent more time on deck, reading his books or just sitting there his eyes closed and letting the sun warm his face slightly.

But the trip came to an end soon and they left the ship for good. Kaoru didn't inform his prisoner about the destination, but they still had to travel a good amount of space and since the vampire was old fashioned and despised new-fashioned stuff such as trains, they travelled old style by carriage.

One day they stopped in a small town, because the vampire desperately needed blood, having been without for some time already then. Usually he had still tied Die up when leaving and locked the door of the carriage, even leaving someone to watch over it so that the redhead couldn't get out. But this time he left in a slight hurry and forgot to bind his prisoner.

Sensing his chances Die waited for a while until he was pretty sure the vampire wouldn't be near anymore and attacked the lock of the door. It didn't even take long for him to get it opened, and as he got out it wasn't even hard for him to get rid of his guards with the skills the vampire had taught him himself. So once again he was on the run, hoping this time he would somehow manage to get away from his fate.

It took quite long until Kaoru returned to the carriage, only to find it abandoned. He could smell that Die had a head start of almost two hours and it raised the excitement of a hunting predator in him. For a second, he thought about letting the human run, thought about telling his master that he had failed and face the inevitable punishment without fear. But then, he was a true hunter, loved the challenge of chasing somebody, especially if he was as clever as the redhead. Adrenalin, or something that evoked the same feeling, was coursing through his dead veins when he rushed through the night, trying not to lose the track.

This time Die had known better than to just run until he collapsed, and was able to save his strength enough so he could keep going for longer. He knew that he should aim for a place full of people since it wouldn't leave that many options for the vampire to get him without causing a major scene. But he faced a problem he'd never thought possible; language. He didn't understand a word these people here spoke, and as he tried to ask for directions or help, people kept shaking their heads and didn't understand him.

Kaoru sensed that he made headway, got closer to his prey and it gave him another push. He was curious though what Die would do, where he wanted to run in a foreign country full of strangers that were probably only staring at his flaming red hair and his strange features in shock.

For a moment, he thought he had lost him, couldn't sense his presence anymore since this city offered various smells that were distracting him. But when he had already given up hope and thought he would have to return to find a hideout for the day, he felt him again. So Die was running to the woods? That had been a big mistake.

The only reason why Die had been heading to the woods was that he had slowly become desperate since no one could understand what he was talking and no one was seemingly able to give him a place to hide. So he had taken the last option he had although he knew it wasn't a good one, heading to the forest and hoping he'd find a place to hide, or to at least be able to keep away from the vampire until the day came and would buy him more time.

Once deep in the woods, Kaoru could clearly sense the redhead's presence again, could practically feel his racing heart and smell the sweat and adrenalin of his human body. Once he knew the direction, he took a huge turn to cut him off. Anger was slowly mixing into the excitement though. Anger that Die caused him a major delay, anger that it was so late already and became dangerous to be this far away from a hideout for the day.

This time, he didn't go for a theatrical appearance, this time he would punish the other and remind him that he still was only human while Kaoru was the powerful vampire with supernatural strength. So he stopped behind a big tree when he already heard Die's footsteps come closer, racing through the thick darkness.

And then, without pre-notice, Kaoru reached out his arm, grabbed the young man by the throat, swung him around and pressed him hard against a tree. "I told you it's futile. You can run from me, but you can't hide."

A desperate growl erupted from the redhead's throat, and he closed his eyes for a moment in disappointment. He had thought he had had a chance, but again all his hopes had been in vain and he was back again just where he had started. Running from Kaoru seemed to be an impossible task.

Still clutching Die's throat, the vampire lifted him off the ground, his eyes sparkling dangerously in the night. "But you achieved something. You fucking know that we're in the middle of nowhere with the sun rising soon?" He knew that this fact would most definitely cause something like triumph inside his prisoner and although he had to hurry, his anger needed to be released first.

"If I have to die, I will take you with me." He growled, bearing his long fangs. It was just meant to frighten the redhead, but he didn't quite succeed. They had grown too close, knew each other too well for the human to be afraid of his vampire side. "Go ahead. I told you before to just kill me, and you didn't." Die raised his chin defiantly, staring straight at the vampire. His voice sounded strange though, as the other pressed his throat rather forcefully which made breathing a tad bit more laborious for the young man. Somehow he knew the vampire wouldn't kill him and it gave him the final needed courage to stand up against him.

Growling frustratedly, Kaoru opened his mouth, releasing an inhuman sound. He couldn't. Even if he hadn't been bound by his master's will, he just couldn't kill the redhead. This realization made him even more furious, although the anger was directed more at himself than at the other man.

Abruptly, he dropped his prisoner, turned him around to face the tree and pressed himself close against him. "If I can't kill you," he whispered intensely, "and I have to die anyways, then I want to enjoy my last moments to the fullest." With having said those words, he practically tore Die's pants away, the cloth giving way as if it had been made of paper.

Die let out a surprised yelp, trying to turn around and get away from between the tree and the vampire. His heart was beating frantically, and he could feel the adrenalin rushing through his veins as his instincts told him to fight and run. But somehow he couldn’t, his own mind didn’t let him. Although he wouldn't have wanted to, he had to admit that there was some anticipation mixing with the reluctance though. But he refused to admit to himself that he wanted the other, telling himself that he wasn't thinking straight anymore.

But the vampire knew very well what he wanted. The other man. He had been yearning to re-enact their one night of passion again, had been thinking about it quite often. It had made him feel so good, so alive. Almost as if he had died and gone to heaven; although he didn't believe in heaven and hell. The mere thought of that night aroused him endlessly. Easily, he held Die in place, pressed him hard against the bark of the tree. Impatiently, he parted the other's legs with his knee, tugged his own trousers down and buried himself in the tight heat.

The redhead screamed since he felt like he was practically being torn apart. Closing his eyes he let his head fall forward, clutching the rough surface of the tree with his fingers as hard as he was able to. Feeling the other behind him caused odd sensations to run through him though. The knowledge of who he was with made his heart beat faster, and not due to fear but due to completely other feelings.

The sound that tore its way out of the young man's throat went straight through the vampire, caused him to shiver and despite the fact that Die wouldn't stand a chance against him, he kind of knew deep down that he didn't even want to escape anymore.

His hands roamed down to Die's hips, clawing the soft flesh to steady him when he began to thrust harshly into his body. He knew that when he reached deep enough, it would touch that certain spot that would provide ultimate pleasure for the other, pleasure he couldn't resist.

The vampire was right in his assumptions, as the redhead was getting lost in the moment with each passing second. Without noticing it himself he begun to push back, to meet the thrusts as best as he was able to, to force the other in deeper with each movement. Briefly it hit him that he would've wanted their time of shared passion to happen again sooner already, but he shrugged it off, only concentrating on feeling.

And just like at their fist time, Kaoru was surprised and enthralled by the way the other reacted to him; by how demandingly he moved against him, not wanting to be controlled completely. It added up to the pleasure the vampire felt already, made him groan and blindly harden his thrusts as if to claim him, wanting to make him his. His chest was heaving as he subconsciously began to inhale Die's scent deeply, perceiving him with all his senses.

Die didn't notice that though, being too lost in the pleasure to know anything at all. He was gasping for air, being seriously out of breath already, his chest heaving forcefully. A constant flow of more or less incoherent sounds was leaving his parted lips, without him even noticing. After a particularly forceful thrust he even groaned out the vampire's name, only subconsciously though.

That was something Kaoru had never experienced throughout his existence as a vampire, not even when he had been human. Hearing his own name, voiced in utter pleasure, awoke a feeling inside him that caused certain warmth to flood his being, a feeling he couldn't quite place. Groaning in return, he withdrew one hand from Die's hip and instead laced his fingers around his arousal, yearning for more sounds, hoping he would say his name again.

A wave of pleasure after another coursed through the redhead's being, and he wasn't able to gain even the slightest control over himself anymore. He was groaning, whimpering and screaming, squirming on his place and trying to move back and force the other in deeper, simply just acting on pure instinct, guided by passion.

Kaoru felt himself near the edge without him being able to control it. There was too much pleasure, too many unknown sensations running through him to even process them. Subconsciously, he ran his lips down Die's neck, licked away the sweat, tasting him. Almost forgetting everything, he bit the soft flesh to channel the blissful feelings he didn't understand. Luckily he came back to reality partly before the skin broke, and he quickly withdrew again.

As if to punish the other for being so tempting, he thrust in as hard and deep as possible a couple of times. It proved to be too much for himself though, the redhead’s violently clenching muscles adding too much friction, bringing ultimate pleasure and finally sending Kaoru over the cliff.

It didn't take long, and Die followed almost at the same second, the climax hitting him forcefully and blinding his senses with its force. He tensed until every single muscle in his body threatened to snap, screaming almost desperately as the feelings were just too much to take, making him almost lose consciousness.

Even after both their bodies had relaxed again, Kaoru held him tightly. The electric waves of his orgasm hadn't left him completely and he rested his head on Die's back, listening to the racing heart underneath. Knowing that they had to hurry, of course he had no intentions to die in the sunlight, the vampire pulled away soon, but made sure the other man wouldn't just collapse to the ground.

As the other already pulled away Die was still only gasping for breath, his body trembling as he was still lingering in the blissful feelings. He wasn't able to make a move, only leaning heavily against his companion.

Carefully, Kaoru leaned him against the tree to button his own pants. Die's trousers were only rags though and not usable anymore. After a moment of thinking, the vampire wrapped him in his coat and lifted him up. They had to run now, a twitch in his stomach telling him that there were only a few minutes until sunrise. So he ran through the woods, carrying his human lover's body as if it was weightless.

Only on some level Die realized that they were moving, the vampire carrying him and making his way through the woods. As the mist was clearing from his mind he realized that, if he would now put up a fight, it might slow the other down to buy him enough time until the sun rose. But for some reason he didn't do it and only leaned heavily against the other. To himself, he explained it so that he was still too exhausted to try anything effective.

Kaoru knew that he wouldn't make it to the carriage or to one of the houses where people knew about him. He was forced to change plans and find another hideout. After crossing a field, a huge barn came in sight and just at the moment when he stepped inside, the first rays of the sun were rising behind him.

It wasn't completely dark inside the shaggy building and the vampire looked around where it would be save enough to rest. Finally, he built some kind of cave out of a few hay bales and crawled inside, pulling Die with him. "You almost made it," he whispered once he had gotten comfortable. "You brought me into serious troubles."

"Does it mean you hate me now and will slash my throat?" Die grinned merrily, even chuckling a bit. A part of him had been even worried that they wouldn't make it inside before sun came out, but that he didn't want to admit.

"If I wanted to do that, I would've done it before." The purple-haired creature answered the smile and shifted a bit under the pretence to get more comfortable. Actually though, he only wanted to get closer to the redhead in their anyways small cave.

"You know that it won't be hard for me to get away once you fall asleep, right?" The redhead looked seriously at the other, not knowing what had made him say that. It was true in a way, since when the sun was shining he only needed to get outside and the vampire wouldn't be able to follow.

"I would wake up when you even think about that." Kaoru answered self-confidently. "Besides, you're so exhausted that you will probably sleep like a stone." Inwardly, he had to admit that Die was right though. His powers weren't as strong during the day as at night and once Die was out, he would have no chance to catch him. "And I assume you're not eager to have the whole English community of vampires chasing after you." Maybe threatening him would work. In reality, he only wanted to keep the other at his side, feared the moment when he had to deliver him to his master already.

"I believe I could make it without you noticing. And when it comes to the whole community of English vampires," the redhead shrugged "I'd only have to see what fate brings." Subconsciously he pressed himself a bit closer to Kaoru though, in the pretence of shifting into a better position.

"Then I think we'll both have to be on the watch." Smiling, the vampire closed his eyes, intending not to sleep a single second. Die had the same intention but when the sun was sinking behind the horizon again, they both were fast asleep, lying entangled together in their small hideout. Once Die had woken up during the day, but because he didn't get up instantly he soon was asleep again. Outside the sun was already setting when they stirred the next time.

Although he would've never admitted it openly, Kaoru had been truly exhausted. Not only the chase through the woods and back to this barn, but the intense moment of passion was the reason for it. It made him chuckle for things like that had never affected his physical strength. So there was something special in his companion indeed, something despite his natural red hair and strong will.

Forcing every sign of affection out of his voice, Kaoru crawled out of the cave and dragged the other with him. "Let's go. We lost a complete night."

"But I want new pants." Die resisted, trying not to follow the other. "You bastard tore my only pair." He knew it was mostly just his stubbornness, but he indeed didn't feel comfortable walking around like that.

"You will have to deal with the coat for now." Grinning, the vampire arched an eyebrow and stared at him openly. "And if you're a good boy and behave yourself, I will maybe buy you new pants."

"Maybe?" The redhead frowned instantly. "I will make your life a living hell if I don't get a pair of pants."

"And how do you think you will do that with bound hands and feet and blindfolded?" The vampire asked dryly, grabbed Die's hand and dragged him along, really needing to hurry now.

"I'll figure something out." Die insisted stubbornly, trying to hold the coat around himself more securely.

He was moving too slow for the vampire's taste though and thus, he threw him over his shoulder and began to run again. They would make headway more quickly if they left the carriage and rode on horsebacks directly, but Kaoru wasn't sure if it would be a clever idea. So he decided against it. When they were reaching the inn where the driver should wait for them in case there were any troubles, he let the redhead down again.

The young man was frowning seriously, not liking the way the other just carried him around like a child. Still he followed wordlessly, not causing any more troubles at the moment. Soon they were in the carriage again, and a long journey ahead of them.

They were just silently looking at each other, Kaoru smiling faintly when he noticed how eagerly the human was covering his body with the coat he had given him. Finally, he reached for something under the seat and tossed a blanket towards him. "Take that for now."

After giving the vampire an angry glare the redhead wrapped the blanket around his form, before seating himself back down. He didn't sit still for long though, beginning to squirm a bit as he noticed that sitting was less than pleasant.

"Sore?" Kaoru asked mockingly, a smug smile dancing on his lips. "It's only a light punishment for what you did."

The answer was another angry glare. "Shut up. You would've run too if you were me."

"And you would've hunted me down if you were me." Kaoru stated securely. Bending forward a bit, he stared at him from below. "And fucked me too."

"Maybe," Die gave the other a small grin.

"Certainly." The purple-haired leaned back in his seat and folded his arms across his chest, smiling smugly.
