I am so excited to find out how you guys like this story, that I urged poor
fonulyn to post the first chapter soon. So here it is^^ I hope you're not too bothered by the length of it. Some will be this long, some shorter. Just see for yourselves. I'm just all too bouncy about this and about the fact that our beloved
totchan has drawn a picture for this story (which she'll post soon, I hope *biiig hugs*). You'll see. Okay, I stop myself now or my brains will overheat^^ Just go and read and tell us if you like it *is addicted to comments*
fonulyn: Well, what to say about this? I’ve always wanted to write a vampire story of sorts, and although there are a lot of those already the topic still always interested me. So we decided to give it a try, since
seinen_no is as much of a freak as I am x) I personally like the mood in this story, as it’s not as ‘happy’, but not that ‘angsty’ either. It’s just cool :D haha, just see for yourself.
The thin line between fate, coincidence and stupidity
Chapter 1
The last rays of the sun had just vanished behind the horizon and made way for a thick leaden grey darkness when a black carriage, pulled by four raven black horses, raced on the yard and suddenly stopped. A rough wind blew the dried leaves across the ground and ripped the remaining ones off the trees violently. The driver, clad in a black robe, wearing a top-hat, turned around. "We're there, sire."
He opened the door and bowed lowly when a small slim man descended the carriage. The man was completely dressed in black as well, his movements filigree and smooth like a cat's as he crossed the yard and headed towards the door. Only when the light of a street lantern hit his form, one could see that there was a purple shimmer in his long black hair which made his appearance even more supernatural than it already was.
A small, white hand knocked on the door. It creaked open and the peachy face of a small round woman appeared in the gap. "Yes?" When she spotted the stranger, she automatically took a step backwards and bowed a bit.
"My horses need new shoes and I heard your husband is the best blacksmith in town." The stranger's voice was low and deep, causing gooseflesh on her skin and her hackles to curl. He seemed younger than he appeared and there was something mysterious to him, something that caused shivers down the woman's spine. "He is indeed, sire. Please come inside. It's no weather for a noble man like you." She didn't notice the content smile that tugged the corners of the man's mouth when he set foot over the threshold and entered the small living-room.
As if he was at home, the stranger walked towards a chair and sat down without waiting for an invitation. "Is your husband at home too, lady? I have some business to do with him." Kaoru, the stranger, smiled a cocky smile and crossed his legs nonchalantly.
"Yes, sire," The woman bowed slightly again, somehow a bit intimidated by the stranger's appearance. It made her nervous, and she even forgot to offer the man something to drink, only stuttering an apology before vanishing to look for her husband.

A tall, young man pulled the dark cloak tighter around his thin form, trying to gain some shelter from the cold wind that seemed to blow straight to his bones. It was the kind of night that would've maybe frightened someone else, but he had gotten used to being alone outside at any possible hour of the day.
But as he came closer to his home, his steps slowed down considerably. Somehow the atmosphere around his home was strange, and he couldn't even blame it on the stormy night as he had seen many of those during his life already. There was something unnatural in the air, and it made him curious since it only seemed to be around the house.
***
The content smile on Kaoru's lips had widened noticeably. What minor beings humans were. One just had to wave with a bit of money and they'd believe everything you say, hypnotized by the promise of wealth. He had seen the greed in the blacksmith's eyes when he had dropped the small sack with the golden coins on the wooden table, had heard his heartbeat speeding up and felt the other's blood boil with excitement. The man hadn't hesitated a split-second to leave his son to the custody of a complete stranger, to deliver him to his good-will. That was what money did and that was one reason why Kaoru despised these unloyal creatures.
Too bad that he couldn't keep the boy for himself. He had seen him first some weeks ago already, had studied him, had followed his every footstep secretly, had lived on the scent of his blood, admired his boyish features and his slender yet strong body. It was unfair. Once he had spotted something he wanted to have, something pristine and perfect, something that was worth using and owning, he had to step back and hand it to his master who would destroy its beauty without paying respect to it.
It has been the day before when the dispatch had reached him, saying that the redheaded boy was the chosen one; the one who would bring death to all of their kind or eternal power for the one who drank his blood and knew the ritual. So Kaoru had been ordered to capture the boy and bring him to his master who was dwelling in a huge castle far far away in England. And as much as the purple-haired man would've just wanted to disobey the command, he couldn't, being dependant on his master's good will. The thought of spending more than a month long trip with a filthy human didn't appear very promising, even if the company would be his pristine creature.
The redhead in question had meanwhile reached his home and carefully opened the door, stepping inside. He was more careful than usual, on his toes all the time and trying to see if there was something out of ordinary. He didn't see his parents anywhere and after leaving his cloak near the door, he climbed up the narrow stairs to his room.
It was practically the attic, but he didn't complain, only enjoying the privacy it gave him since no one else ever went up there. But this time he froze in his movement in the doorframe, seeing a slim figure sitting on the edge of his bed.
The stranger had sensed the boy's aura long before he had set foot inside the house and although they were still divided by a few feet, his scent was indescribable, the sweetness of his blood almost irresistible. He didn't flinch, didn't even turn around and only spoke lowly. "Good evening, Daisuke. Come inside and sit down."
"Who are you?" The addressed gave the other a suspicious glance, closed the door behind himself and took a step into the room, his eyes never leaving the sitting one.
"My name is Niikura Kaoru and we will go on a long journey together." Finally, the stranger turned his head, smiling indulgently. "You will begin an apprentice ship at my master's castle." Being so close to the redhead, Kaoru could feel the extraordinary about him almost corporally and although it was still a despisable human, there was also something enticing about this boy, something that had held a huge appeal to him when he had first spotted the other.
"And no one will ask my opinion?" Daisuke arched an eyebrow, knowing the answer before he had asked. The stranger wouldn't be so carefree in his home, if he wasn't already sure of his success. There was something in that man, showing he wasn't anything average. Wasn't human.
"It's an honor to work for my master and your parents were more than proud to hear he would take you." Kaoru still spoke lowly, completely certain that this would be a piece of cake. Though the boy seemed to be stubborn, his eyes bright and clever, he would stand no chance against him. Inwardly, the purple-haired man was hoping for some resistance. It would increase the fun for him, would allow him to show off his true nature.
"I see." The redhead nodded slowly. "So who is this master of yours?" He tilted his head, looking straight at the other. He thought it would be best to suppress his nervousness, to give the stranger the impression he wasn't afraid. "Or more like; What is he?"
The last question caused the smile on Kaoru's lips to widen. Suddenly, his facial features changed, became fiercer, sharper, and when he opened his mouth a bit, he bore a set of sharp canine teeth that reached to his bottom lip. He loved these moments when he revealed his true nature to the non-believers, to minor humans, to his prey and savored the sight of agony on their faces.
This young man seemed to be a slight disappointment though, since the only reaction from him was a small flinch. He had known this somehow, instinctively, and couldn't have explained how if someone asked.
Almost delighted, Kaoru noticed that his counterpart lacked the usual fear and finally stood up in a swift, fluent movement. "We don't have much time." He announced coolly and continued in a commanding tone. "You have ten minutes to pack your belongings. Your father should be done with my horses by now already."
"So you won't even tell me where we're going and expect me to follow?" The redhead didn't make a move to pack anything, just standing there and looking at the other.
"England." Came the short, slightly annoyed answer. "And you will follow without asking further questions. Pack your things or leave it be, I don't care. But we will leave in about eight minutes."
Seeing that there would be no sense in arguing, the young man turned around and gathered his belongings. It wasn't much though, only some clothes mainly, and he was done in no time, silently waiting for what would happen next. Before Kaoru stepped through the small door, he turned around to face the young man. "I advise you not to try anything if you want your family to live."
The sound of the open threat echoed in the room and the vampire couldn't deny that he was hoping the redhead would do something stupid. He hadn't fed in some time and would enjoy doing it in front of the other.
One could see that the young man was biting his teeth tight together, forcing himself to keep silent. He didn't care so much for his parents, but he felt he still owed them something, as he hadn't been an easy child to take care of. So he obediently followed, not causing troubles, at least not yet. He had something else in mind.
Patiently, Kaoru waited till the boy had bid farewell to his parents and then led him outside into the storm towards the carriage which was already awaiting them. Nervously, the horses were prancing on the spot, quietly neighing, obviously impatiently waiting to finally leave. The driver held the door open and bowed, carefully avoiding eye-sight with the vampire and his company.
One hand placed on the redhead's back, Kaoru pushed him in, quickly following after. Although the cold couldn't harm him, it still was unpleasant and he definitely preferred the shelter of a roof over his head.
They sat in complete silence, as the young man only tried to stare out of the window, despite the fact that he didn't even see anything. He would've probably been more scared otherwise, but he sensed somehow that the other wasn't going to harm him, at least not before he had taken him to his so called master.
Although the vampire's eyes were closed, he still was wide awake, noticing the young man's every movement, as small as it might have been. Being so close to a human, to a human with such an enticing scent, without being allowed to feed on him proved to be harder than he had thought. There was something to the redhead, something alluring that made it hard to resist.
The drive took long, and after a while Die grew tired, no matter how hard he tried not to. Reluctantly closing his eyes, he thought he might as well try to sleep for a moment since he would need all his strength if they'd make a stop somewhere. When his breath grew steady and he was lost deep in the land of dreams, Kaoru finally opened his eyes again, measuring the other's appearance carefully. If he weren't a filthy human, he'd make a good companion, at least something nice to show off which was what the vampire had planned for him, before his master had called.
Now, he wasn't allowed to make the redhead his and had to deal with his imperfect human arrogance throughout the whole journey. At least he could have his fun with him later on if he felt like it. That was not forbidden. But as for the moment, he would leave him alone. Slowly, he grew hungry. It had been too long since he had fed on fresh blood and he ran out of time. Suddenly, the carriage stopped though and a relieved sigh left the vampire's lips. "Wake up."
Die startled, blinking for a few moments to land back to reality and to force the sleep away. "Where are we?" His voice sounded thick with sleep, and he swallowed to make it more steady.
Wordlessly, Kaoru dug out a rope and bound the boy's hands behind his back, twisting his arms effortlessly. Then, he bound his legs together with another rope and left the carriage. Before he closed the door, he addressed the redhead. "Just a precaution. Wait here. I'll be back soon." With having said that, he closed and locked the door and vanished into the darkness of the woods.
The redhead growled annoyedly, not liking the way he was being treated like a prisoner. Although that was what he was, he still didn't like it. Knowing he didn't have much time he tried to shift himself to reach for his bag, fumbling until he got his hands on the small knife he had hidden there. Adrenaline was pumping through his veins, making his heart beat faster as he tried to cut the ropes frantically. He assumed that the driver was still outside, but didn't worry that much about him. Now that the vampire was gone, this would be his only chance to escape.
Kaoru was on the hunt, his victim's frantic heartbeat leading his way through the darkness through which he moved without causing a single sound. It was as if the woods made way for his lithe form, too afraid to touch the supernatural.
***
The heartbeat slowed down and stopped completely as the life ran out of the limb body in his arms, leaving its owner through two small selective wounds, being sucked out.
He already knew that the redhead was gone before he reached the carriage. After freeing and threatening the driver that he should never let this happen again if he valued his life, he followed the trail of his prisoner. Somehow it amused him how stubbornly this boy believed he could just get away that easily.
Although Die had no idea where they were, he headed straight to the woods without hesitating. He had spent so much time in the forests that he knew how to move there and thought that if he would get far enough before the vampire returned to the carriage, he might stand a chance. So he ran, ran until his lungs were burning in the lack of air and his muscles were cramping.
"Hello Daisuke." A deep voice sounded calmly and a familiar figure stepped into the moonlight that illuminated the small clearance. There were no signs of exhaustion on the vampire's features, no sweat on his skin unlike on the redhead's. "Had fun?"
As long as Die had thought there might be a possibility to get away he had made it, no matter how exhausted he had been. But now that the other stood there in front of him, desperation washed over him and his legs gave in, making him collapse on the cold ground.
Mercilessly, Kaoru dragged him up again, staring straight into his eyes. "Your little escape cost me precious time. We need to hurry." With having said those words, he darted forward, his cold hand clutching the other's like a bench vice.
The redhead was helpless, and was practically being dragged along. He didn't have any strength to fight back at all, no possibility to resist at that moment.
Kaoru had ordered the driver to meet them somewhere half way and it didn't take too long before he and the exhausted human reached the carriage. When they were sitting inside, Die panting heavily, he spoke again. "I hope you see now that it makes no sense to try to escape." He knew the other was thirsty, yearning for a drink and finally had mercy on him. With an arrogant gesture, he dug out a bottle of water from under the seat and held it up for the other.
Die would've rather just slapped the bottle away, but his body was screaming for water and he took the bottle to take long sips instantly. Stubbornly he didn't say anything to the vampire though, didn't even look at him. And in his mind he wasn't defeated and was sure his chance would still come.
The vampire could sense that he wasn't broken and had to admit that he marvelled his mental strength. Usually, people were petrified once he had revealed his true nature to them, but there was nothing usual in this boy with the flaming red hair.
Smiling, Kaoru closed his eyes and leaned his head against the backrest, pretending to sleep. Hopefully they would reach their destination before the break of day. It was too dangerous for him at that time, although no light would reach inside the carriage. But having such a strong prisoner always bore a certain danger and Kaoru didn't want to commit the mistake to underestimate him.
Die knew he shouldn't try to run instantly again, it would make no sense as he was still tired from the last attempt and the vampire was there watching him all along. So he just relaxed, tried to regain his strength and rest for a while and waited for his next opportunity.
Just in time, only a few minutes before the break of dawn, the carriage stopped in front of a small house. They were awaited by a tall thin man who led them inside, submissively walking behind the vampire and Die. The boy was brought into a small, windowless room that reminded of a dungeon where a meal was waiting for him along with a small bunk-bed. Kaoru was guided into another room where he could rest for the day.
The food didn't taste much like anything but Die ate it nevertheless, as he hadn't had eaten in a long time. Although he was alone, his thoughts circled around the vampire all along. The man was strangely attractive, but he blamed it on him being something unnatural. After eating Die checked the door, only to notice it was locked and he had no way to break it. And as the room had no windows, it effectively prevented every single attempt to escape. Furiously he kicked the door a couple of times, trying if it would give in, but he gained nothing out of it. Finally he lay down in the bunk and tried to think of another way out.
Kaoru's thoughts were circling around his prisoner as well and a smile curled his lips when he imagined him going on a rampage in his room, trying to escape. Content with himself so far, he turned around in his bed and fell into one of his typical deep and dreamless sleeps.
Sometime, the door to Die's prison creaked open and a young girl entered, carrying a plate with more food and wine which she set on the table wordlessly. At first Die tried to talk to her, to make her help him and let him go, promising her anything he had to offer, but it had no effect and eventually, he just lay back down on his bed, not even stirring once someone entered the room.
Shortly before sundown, Kaoru slipped into his room, silent like a soft breeze. Backwards, he sat down on a chair, crossing his arms on the backrest. He didn't even know why he had come there, why he was seeking the other's proximity, but subconsciously he knew there was more to the young man than met the eye or his nose as his scent still had a major effect on him.
At first the redhead didn't notice it, but after some time he sensed even in his sleep that there was someone else in the same room; someone with a strong presence. Flinching he opened his eyes, just to see his capturer sitting only a few feet away from him.
"Rested well?" Although the human's condition didn't interest him in the least, Kaoru felt the need to talk to him. Being a vampire made lonely and one was forced to learn to deal without conversation. It wasn't that, once you turn, you just get rid of all the natural needs instantly and in the beginning, you even still breathe from time to time although it was unnecessary. Same went with food. Kaoru didn't need to eat, but that didn't mean that he couldn't appreciate a glass of good wine for example.
"I suppose so." Die arched an eyebrow suspiciously, inching a bit away from the other. His presence made him somehow uneasy, not scared in the literal meaning of the word but still it disturbed him somehow.
"We'll reach the boat the day after tomorrow." Why Kaoru informed the other about that, he had no idea. "That is," he grinned meaningfully, "if you don't try to run away again. Believe me, there's no way to escape me."
"You think so." The redhead snorted, getting up from the bed to see if there was anything to eat on the table, because he was hungry.
"I know so." The grin was still there and the vampire pointed at a plate with bread and meat, pushing it towards the redhead. "You will learn that I'm right. The hard or the easy way." Somehow he still tried to impress the young man, tried to show him that he wouldn't stand a chance even without laying hands on him.
Die took the food, stuffing it into his mouth and chewing swiftly. He didn't bother to comment on the other's words though, just stubbornly thinking he was wrong, and that he'd make it eventually.
Kaoru watched him intensely, trying to remember the feeling when you were practically starving and finally had some food to fill your stomach. It was one of the simple human delights which a vampire lacked. And that redhead ate with such relish that it was pure joy to watch him, to see how bite after bite passed his lush lips that were so full of life.
Die noticed the eyes on him, but tried to pretend he didn't. He concentrated on eating, and only when he had swallowed the last bite he turned to face Kaoru. "When are we leaving?" Subconsciously he licked his lips, reaching for the small bottle of water that was on the edge of the table.
For a second, the vampire remained silent, listening to his inner clock that would tell him when the sun had sunk. "When you're done here." His voice had changed slightly, was a tad bit softer than the day before which made him appear almost human.
"When I'm done?" Die looked suspicious, no believing he had anything to decide in the eyes of the creature in front of him.
Kaoru noticed the slight disbelieving undertone and cleared his throat. "I think you're finished now. C'mon, the carriage is waiting." With having said that, he got up and left the room. The people in the house would make sure the redhead would follow anyways, but he somehow wanted to give him the chance to do it freewillingly.
Die followed, knowing his chances to escape were so tiny that it wasn't worth the try. Soon they were both sitting in the carriage again, the human still refusing to look straight at the vampire.
For the first time in many years, Kaoru was bored. Truly and deeply bored. It was something in the redhead that made him hope they could run a conversation, but when the other just remained silent, this almost forgotten feeling was seeping into the vampire, touched something inside him. Soon, the feeling changed though and he became annoyed, even angry at the other and at the fact that he had to deal with him, angry because he was craving for his blood and yet had to refrain.
Die tried not to notice the other man at all, not sure how he should even react to him. He was partly angry since the other had just come and taken him away from his life, turning everything upside down. And he knew whatever Kaoru had planned for him couldn't be that good. Still, he was curious, but he fought hard not to give in to it.
That was one other thing that disturbed the vampire. He had to deliver this human to his master who would become the most powerful vampire of all times with his help. Why shouldn't he just take the power for himself? What kept him from just sinking his teeth into the warm soft flesh right above the carotid and drink in eternal power?
Technically, he didn't know if this would be enough to unleash it, or if there was some kind of ritual attached to the prophecy. Why else should he bring the boy to England? Inwardly, he was discussing with himself, thinking everything through and through again. But finally, he didn't want to risk drawing his master's eternal wrath at himself if things went wrong and he settled for just fulfilling his task. Besides, he still wasn't free, was partly connected to his master and he would instantly know when he did something against his will.
The moments passed by in uneasy silence, Die just trying to stare out of the window and ignore the other's presence. Finally his natural curiosity won the battle inside of him and he spoke up, without turning his gaze though. "Why me?"
Startling, the purple-haired man looked up, being dragged out of his contemplations. He wasn't sure what he should answer, if he should tell him the truth or part of it. "I don't know. My master wanted just you." He finally said. And that wasn't even a lie, because his master hadn't told him much more, probably didn't even know Kaoru knew about the prophecy. He had heard about it by chance once and never told anybody that he knew. Only when the dispatch read "He is the chosen one", he instantly had understood the magnitude of this task.
For a moment the young man didn't move, seemingly thinking about what he had just heard. But finally he turned, looking straight at the one before him. "There must be a reason why he wants me dragged all the way there. And I want to know it."
For some strange reason, Kaoru thought that the other deserved to know the truth. After all, this journey would end with his death and he should get the chance to enjoy his last days as much as he could. "There is something about your blood. Something special, and he wants it." The vampire flinched unnoticeably at his words and he truly didn't know why he was so open, why the other's fate suddenly affected him so much.
"So I'm travelling to my end here?" Die nodded, knowing the answer before the other said anything. It only made him more determined though, determined to escape and this time finally make it without being captured again.
The vampire didn't answer with words, but he nodded slightly. He thought it had been a mistake to be so open and moreover that he wasn't the right person for this job. He hadn't been attracted to the redhead before he was chosen for the task without a reason and the more time he spent together with him, the more he wanted him for himself.
The redhead didn't say anything further anymore, staying silently on his place, lost in his thoughts. He just decided to wait for a proper chance and then try to run again.
Kaoru knew that his honesty would probably lead to Die trying to run again, but he didn't care. The only thing that bothered him was that every escape would cost him precious time, but he was sure he could prevent the other from slipping away again.
At one point Die had even fallen asleep again, not knowing how long they had been travelling. And he hadn't slept very well as they'd stopped, just trying to think of a way to get flee.
Motionlessly, Kaoru watched him all the time, dwelling on his thoughts as well. He had never been in such a situation, had never been so strangely attracted to a mere human being, yet repelled at the same time. He was torn between want and disgust, between loyalty and seeking his own fulfilment.
The young man had been awake for longer, but only opened his eyes as the carriage stopped suddenly. He wasn't sure if it would be just a short stop, or if they had already reached their destination and would leave the carriage behind. He turned to look at the vampire, silently examining his features before asking. "Now what?"
"Now I have to dispatch an important telegram and if you promise to behave, I allow you to accompany me and to stretch your limbs a bit." Even for a vampire, a long carriage ride was uncomfortable, but Kaoru knew that it was torture for the human body. So he had decided to take the other along. Of course under the pretence to have an eye on him.
"Okay," Die nodded, thinking his chances to get away might be better outside if there were people around them. He could just try to hide in the crowd. So he followed Kaoru out, inhaling the fresh air deep into his lungs.
It had stopped raining, but the streets were still wet and a cold wind blew into their faces when they were walking through the night. There, in a big city, the streets were still full of life, people enjoying themselves in one of the countless nightclubs, bars and brothels. Determinedly, Kaoru led the way to a small office where he could telegraph to his master that he was on his way and that they would reach the ship the following night. When he was done, he turned to face the redhead and grinned. "There's still time and you look like you would want a beer."
"I most definitely would." Die grinned as well. It was the first time that he smiled after he had been dragged away from his former life. He knew to appreciate a glass of beer when he got one, and this was a moment in his life when he needed it.
The sparkle in the human's eyes touched something inside Kaoru and for a moment, he felt more alive again, living through the other's anticipation for something simple like a glass of beer. So they entered a small dark bar and the vampire gestured for his companion to sit down, generously ordering a huge drink for him. "Enjoy it. It might be your last."
"Well thank you for reminding me," the redhead snorted, taking a long sip of the liquid as soon as he received it. "You want too?" He arched an eyebrow at the other, before grinning slightly. "Oh, but I guess you don't know how to appreciate it. Poor thing."
The comment elicited a fierce grin on Kaoru's lips and he arched an eyebrow. "Well, I think I pass this one. It's the drink of poor people. I prefer wine." In reality, he liked beer but the appetite for normal foods had grown less and less throughout the years of his undead life until he only rarely could really enjoy it.
"You must miss the joys of living," Die looked at his counterpart, his voice mock compassionate. "Think of it, you can't enjoy things like a good drink, delicious food, the warmth of the sun on your face," he enumerated, a dreamy expression on his face, "how nice it's to finally fall asleep after a hard day, to get laid..." He shrugged, trying to pretend he attended his drink again although he kept a close look on the other from the corner of his eye.
Outwardly, Kaoru was calm, but he had to bite the inside of his cheek. Out of all things the other had mentioned, he missed the sun the most, missed its warmth and the way its rays coloured the earth. The last thing elicited a grin though.
He had often met people who were convinced vampires didn't take pleasure in sharing their beds with a warm body and he had to admit that it wasn't common. But in his case, that was one thing he still had in common with the humans. Mockingly, he arched an eyebrow. "You shouldn't talk about things you don't know. I bet you've never seen a woman's chamber from the inside. Despite your mother's."
"Oh, you have no idea," Die chuckled, shaking his head. "I've seen more than most men at my age." He didn't even lie, since it had never been a problem for him to find a girl ever. Although most people thought he was frightening with his flaming red hair, there were enough who thought it was enticing.
Smirking, Kaoru leaned a bit forward and brought their faces closer. "You must be a rich man then. There's no way a decent girl gives herself to a freak like you without payment." He eyed the other man intensely and knew he had told the truth. Inwardly, he asked himself if he had ever been with a man too.
"You would be surprised." The redhead stared right back. "Many would be willing to pay me for it."
"Too bad that the story of the new Don Juan will be over soon though." The vampire had taken on the same mocking and teasing undertone with which the redhead had begun the conversation. "But now that you say it, I could make some money with you to pay my expenses. You eat a lot."
"You don't need to feed me." Die didn't even flinch at the other's words. "It must pain you to see someone so alive close to you while you're just an empty shell yourself."
"If you go on talking like that, I will feed on you and suck the life out of your body." Kaoru said calmly without turning a hair. And although he knew he wasn't allowed to do so, he would've loved to do just that; only to make the other shut up.
"You won't." The young man wasn't dumb, and he knew the vampire wasn't allowed to hurt him, since he apparently belonged to his master now. "Your master wouldn't like it."
For a short moment, it seemed as if the redhead had won and Kaoru was defeated, but then, he reached out his arm, catching the other's chin between his cold thumb and index finger. "Well," he purred grinning, "I might not be allowed to feed upon you, but other than that, I can do as I wish."
"And what will it leave you?" Die pulled back abruptly, yanking his chin away from the other. "Nothing."
The vampire grinned cockily, but left the question open. "We need to go. Finish your beer." He thought that if the redhead continued to be as disrespectful and insubordinate as that, he would give him a taste of his powers sooner or later and show him some manners.
Silently the young man finished his drink, but didn't enjoy it as much as before their little talk. The vampire annoyed him, but he couldn't quite place why. As the other stood up to leave the place he followed obediently, but as they stepped outside where the people were still walking along the street he slipped into the crowd, quickly making his way away.
Kaoru had been distracted by his trail of thoughts and was careless for only a second. When he noticed that the redhead was gone again, he began to laugh whole-heartedly. The sound was so odd that people were drawing huge circles around the purple-haired man, avoiding coming too close.
Then, the vampire began his hunt, making his way smoothly through the crowd. It was different than in the woods though, because here were more living souls who distracted him and made it harder to sense Die's aura, to smell his blood and hear his racing heartbeat.
Die carefully kept in the crowds, thinking it'd be best to try to mix with people. He knew his red hair would stick out of the mass of people still, and he raised his cloak to cover it. He didn't really have any plan but to get as far from the vampire as possible, hoping to find shelter somewhere.
It wasn't clever of him though that he was moving deeper into the more poor districts with shaggy bars and smelly backyards. He couldn't know that the vampire had spotted him some time ago already and only waited for his chance to drag him away without causing a major uproar amongst people.
Delighted, Kaoru saw him enter a small, dimly light tavern and waited a few moments before he followed him inside, covering his purple hair with the hood of his cloak. Kaoru went straight to the innkeeper and exchanged a few words. After a generous amount of money had changed the owner, he turned around and went upstairs, knowing that the redhead would most definitely ask for a place to stay over the night and try to escape during daylight. There were still too many people to just kidnap him there and so Kaoru had to wait and hope everything would go according to his plan.
He had predicted right, and Die asked the man in the tavern to give him a place to stay for the night. He even had some money, since he had had a few savings and he'd taken them with him as they'd left his home. When he walked up the creaking stairs, heading to a room he had rented for the night, he felt like things might turn out well after all.
Kaoru was waiting for him behind the door and at the moment when the redhead stepped inside, he laced his fingers around his throat and pressed him against the wood. "I told you you won't escape." There was amusement dancing in his voice and he tightened his hold on the other, threatening to choke him, lifting his feet off the ground in a display of his true strength.
Instinctively Die kicked and tried to hit his capturer, struggling to get away from the strong grip. It was in vain though, and it was just getting harder for him to gasp for air as the hold of his throat only tightened.
The vampire felt his fear, the heart thudding frantically against Die's chest in agony, pumping precious blood though his veins. All these impressions were closing in on Kaoru, the other's scent being the sweetest he had ever smelled.
Slowly, without him being able to control it, he turned, his features changing and his fangs growing. "You really think we can't feel pleasure?" He asked mockingly and ripped the other man's shirt open without effort. He sat his feet back down on the ground, but still held him by the throat, unaffected by the kicks and hits he received. In a swift movement, he opened the trousers as well, almost tearing them off.
Die's frantic kicking and swinging was ceasing a bit due to the firm grip on his throat, but when his clothes were torn off he managed to gain extra strength from somewhere, desperately trying to make the other let go of him. Die's heart was racing and for the first time after he had met the vampire he was truly scared, terrified of what would come and he practically feared for his life although he knew the other wasn't allowed to kill him.
For a moment, it looked as if Kaoru would let go off him as the grip loosened a bit and he gave Die the chance to take a few deep breaths. But then, effortlessly, he lifted him up again and threw him on the bed. In the blink of an eye, the vampire was beside him, showing his teeth, and tugged the last remains of clothing away from the other man.
Grinning, he measured his victim's body, licking his lips and when his eyes had reached the other's groin, the grin turned into a smug smirk. "A natural redhead indeed. And now I see why the women enjoyed your company."
Swiftly, he flipped Die over so that he lay on his stomach, bringing his lips close to his ear. "Want me to show you how it feels to be the girl? To show you how much a vampire like me can enjoy himself with a warm, living human being?"
"No!" The redhead flinched, as much at the other's words as at his own voice that sounded odd in his ears, mostly desperate. He still tried to struggle against the firm hold the vampire had of him, although he knew it would be impossible to break free from the grip. Still, the panic gave him some extra strength and he tried to fight back, no matter how futile the attempts turned out to be.
Kaoru wanted to play with him, wanted to show him that there was no sense in fighting, that he would never stand a chance against his powers. Usually, he didn't take delight in games like this, enjoyed more the freewilling, or paid company of humans, liked to feel their warmth. Only when he was on the hunt, he toyed with his victims, took pleasure in their fear for their lives. But this was different. A part of him wanted to kill the redhead, wanted his blood while another part wanted to own his soul and because he couldn't have either of it, he wanted to take what was left.
Easily, he pulled Die on his lap, controlling him with one arm while his free hand travelled down to his groin and palmed his length. He knew that he was able, knew that, although the touch was cold, no living breathing creature could resist him. "See, your own body betrays you and belies your words." He whispered lowly when he felt the flesh swell in his hand.
The answer was a low groan, as the redhead closed his eyes and tried to force himself to calm down, tried to gain control over his body again. His heart was beating frantically, adrenalin coursing through him, and his first instinct was to run. But although the grip he other had on him had loosened a bit his struggling got less as he just tried to gain control over himself.
Straight from the beginning when he had first seen the vampire, there had been something extraordinary in him, something that had made him attractive in Die's eyes. And even in a moment like that, still fearing for his life, a part of his mind actually noticed the other's presence, his scent and all the small things that made him him.
When Kaoru felt his struggling became weaker, he couldn’t help but to be delighted. It was so easy to play humans if one knew what buttons one had to push. Still, as much as he tried to make himself believe, he didn't think of the redhead as the filthy human he would have wanted to. There was something precious about him, something more than his mere blood and the more time the vampire spent with him, the more clear it came that it was his soul.
So even to his own surprise, he didn't walk the talk, didn't make the other his, didn't just fuck him. Instead, he held him pressed against himself, Die's warmth and scent devolving on him, seeping to his bones, causing shivers down his spine. Yet, he didn't stop his ministrations, drinking in every display of pleasure, partly because he knew it was against the other's will, because he tried to fight it with all his might.
Die still tried to gain control over his own body, but with each passing moment it became harder and harder and his mind was getting lost somewhere in the pleasure that filled him although he had tried to resist. He was struggling weakly still, but it wasn't even enough to properly distract the vampire.
At one point, Kaoru couldn't resist and ran his open mouth down white skin of the redhead's neck. It took a lot of willpower not to scratch him with his teeth, but he knew once he tasted a drop of his blood, there would be no holding back anymore. What he tasted as he licked with his tongue was enough to make his head spin and even caused a sigh to spill from his lips.
When Die's struggling had become practically non-existent, the vampire released him of his grip and instead brought his other hand between his legs, softly brushing along his inner thighs. "See, you can't resist me. Feels good, doesn't it? And I bet you would love to kill me now."
The response was an angry growl, but evolved into a surprised yelp as another wave of pleasure ran through the redhead, making his back arch involuntarily. He was unable to gather a clear thought, everything just mixing into one big mass of things he couldn't sort out.
But his body was willing no matter what he tried, and it didn't take long anymore before his back arched again, almost violently as the climax hit him forcefully. For those few seconds the pleasure blinded every thought from his mind; the anger, confusion, disgust and a mix of something else he couldn't define.
A lot of impressions where crushing in on Kaoru and made him shudder when he felt the body in his arms tense and finally the younger man's hot seed run over his hand. He was so full of life and displayed it in every single of his movements, in the noises he made. Wrapping one arm around Die's waist to keep him from sliding off his lap, Kaoru brought the stained hand to his mouth and licked away the salty semen, closing his eyes and focusing on the things it did to him, did to his undead body and soul.
They had already wasted a lot of time and he knew if they staid longer, everything would've been in vain and Die would see right through him, would see that he just couldn't harm him.
"Too bad there's no time anymore to fuck you. But we will make it up to that sometime later. Now get dressed." With that, he shoved Die off his lap ungently and stood up, taking on a malicious grin as he watched the other closely, saw how he was still trembling from the lingering pleasure.
The feeling dominating Die's mind right now was shame, along with anger. He was angry at the vampire for what he had done, angry at his own body for betraying him and reacting so easily to the advances. In addition he felt like passing out, the pleasure still lingering in him and making him tremble. In the attempt to cover his weakness, he reached for his shirt though and pulled it on, growling annoyedly as his hand got stuck in one sleeve for a moment.
His eyes locked on the redhead, Kaoru approached him and took a hold of the trousers' cuff in which the other had just stepped, pulling them up and buttoning them with a smug smile. "Be happy that I don't drag you along naked. That's what you deserve for running away again." In reality, he only wanted to touch the other's warm skin again, drawn to him like a moth to a flame. But he used the moment to humiliate him and to tease him.
Die gave him a murderous glare, stepping away as soon as he could. Inwardly, he still was thinking he might try to run again if the perfect situation came. But he had gotten the fright of his life, and had to admit he had underestimated the vampire this far.
Arrogantly, Kaoru led the way, not even turning around to make sure the redhead was following after. He would notice it anyways if Die decided to run again and now that he had tasted him, if not completely, it would be easier to hunt him down. Never in his entire undead life had he tasted and smelled something so enticing and intense. He would never forget it and would be able to sense him in a billion people.
The carriage was awaiting them still where they had left, the driver being a bit nervous. "It's late sire. We won't make it before dawn." Kaoru only grinned coolly. "I know. The carriage is safe, so we will risk it."
As Die was pushed inside the carriage he instantly settled into the farmost corner, trying to get as much distance between him and the creature as possible. He was still seriously fuming with anger, but didn't know whether he was angrier at himself or at the other.
Amusedly, Kaoru noticed it and decided to tease his prisoner further, finally feeling afloat again. "Embarrassed?" he asked grinning and continued with mock compassion. "You shouldn't be. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. At least you're not tiny."
"Shut up." The redhead growled, only glancing at him angrily before turning away again.
Somehow it was cute how embarrassed the young man actually was and how angry. Kaoru startled a bit when he noticed this feeling inside him, something he hadn't felt in years. So it was the second emotion the redhead had brought back to him, had reminded him of. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing after all that he had been chosen to deliver him to his master. But that also meant he would deliver him to death and the more time they spent together, the more reluctant and unsure Kaoru became about this matter.
The thing that bothered Die the most was that he actually didn't despise the vampire any more after this incident. He was supposed to hate him with all his heart, was supposed to be furious at him, but he was just mostly angry at himself.
So they spent the drive in silence again. Die avoiding looking at the vampire, always keeping his eyes cast down while Kaoru openly stared at him, knowing that this was the reason for the slight blush on the redhead's cheeks.
When you're a vampire, your body has the same temperature as your environment, because there was no bloodflow that keeps it warm, no life inside. And suddenly, Kaoru found himself yearning for the other's warmth, wanting to feel it and make it his own. In his mind, he relived the moment when he had held Die, when he had sat on his lap, and remembered the enormous heat that had radiated from him while he had been lost in pleasure.
The redhead on his side tried to forget the whole thing, but didn't have that much luck with it. No matter where he tried to direct his thoughts to they always came back to the moment they had just gone through in that dim room in the cheap tavern. He shifted uncomfortably on his seat more than once, not knowing how to distract himself.
Although no natural light was seeping into the carriage, Kaoru flinched a bit when he felt the sun rise. There was a twitch in his stomach and he couldn't deny that he feared it. Hopefully, nothing would stop them and the redhead wouldn't try something stupid.
Die noticed the change in the other's behaviour, as the self confidence seemed to escape him somehow. It made him smile ever so slightly, as for the first time he felt like he had some sort of upper hand in the situation.
It was as if the vampire's powers were fading, the higher the sun rose. He still was stronger than any human being, but knew that he was also more slow and vulnerable at this time. Besides, he grew tired, and his concentration failed from time to time, no matter how hard the tried to avoid it.
The redhead was watching him, only waiting for a possibility to run. At one point, he noticed his concentration getting less though and he simply forgot to watch his counterpart.
By the time the carriage stopped, both of them were sleeping deeply, exhausted from the various things they had both gone through the previous night. Kaoru was the first to flinch and sit up. There was a problem for him to get inside the house where they were supposed to stay, because the sun shone brightly above them. The driver organized a couple of thick blankets though, in which he was wrapped, to shield him from the death brining light.
Die was still half asleep when someone grabbed his arm and helped him out of the carriage, and he didn't even manage to think about running. Only when he already was inside the house he begun to blink, his brains starting to work and he cursed out loud as he noticed his chance had passed by.
That day, they had to stay in the same room, more like a cell deep in the cellar of the house. Kaoru didn't waste a single glance at the redhead and only turned around in the bed, facing the wall before drifting off again. Yes, even vampires needed to rest.
The young man used a moment to just look at him, but then tried to find if there was a way for him to get out of the room. There were no windows, so he had to focus on the door, using his whole bodyweight to slam against it, hoping it'd give in.
After some time, Kaoru spoke without turning around. "Give up. You only hurt your shoulder and bereave me of my sleep."
Die flinched as he hadn't noticed that the other was awake, but didn't say anything, trying to get the door opened once more.
Suddenly, the vampire stood right beside him. In a swift movement, Kaoru turned him around and pressed him against the door with his body. "I said," he growled dangerously. "stop that."
"And what are you going to do if I won't?" The redhead stared at the other defiantly, but couldn't help a slight nervousness to spread in him.
"I'm gonna fuck you until you're too exhausted to disturb my sleep again." Came the answer with a casual shrug and a smug smile.
